As near as I can tell this fella is quite well educated and very good at statistical analysis. I hope that these results will be accepted in the spirit that they were developed with. Mr. xx55xx worked very hard to give us a detailed mathamatically spirited, and unbias analysis of the characters the fans (that be us) liked. Thankyou Mr. xx55xx, well done.
This character survey was designed and compiled by (xx55xx)
"Analysis Tali
Although the polls and fan responce on the Bioware forums suggest Tali is the most popular squadmate in all of Mass effect the numbers hint at a different story: Yes, she is popular, but not as popular as we have once thought. For example, her (mean) score of 8.05, while high, is somewhat lower than the (mean) scores of several other characters. Also, her (coefficient of variation) of 26.9% connotes a degree of variability (albeit not terribly great) in people's reactions twards Tali. Perhaps all the hype is causing a mild backlash in some quarters?"

The author goes on to describe that Tali ranks 5th out of the 16 characters.

This detailed survey can be found at "google docs" under "Mass Effect character survey - results and analysis.pdf"

I take it with a grain of salt, there no way to offically know any numbers outside of bioware feedback showing the most used squad mate/ LI.

Agreed.
Besides, how can Bioware ignore this.

This fella used his polls to compile these results and the polls are from this site. That is how.

That then voiding every person opinion not on the forum a shocking surprise most game owner do not visit the game they own forum, So again there no official number outside of the bioware feedback option, if you don't like that fact then your up a creek my friend as well as the person who made this supposedly "fact" post.

Yeah I understand, but that still doesn't really confirm that for sure.
I  wouldnt believe in an unofficial survey, but thanks for the info.

Though overall I admit to the validity of the poll, one must also take into account that some people ("trolls") who hate us Tali-lovers purposely vote against Tali in those sorts of things.

I never said that you had to be number one to stay in here frankly I thought that 5th was pretty darn skippy. She happens to be one of my favorite characters in the series so far. Would like to see her finish out the series myself.

So her ranking 5th out all 16 characters is bad... she is in the top five...  thats is nothing to worry about.. I have never seen a top 5 character get killed off...

We went over this earlier today.

The test population for this poll was mainly posters on these forums. That's not a very random test pool.

And anyone with half a wit knows that if the population selected for a survey isn't random, the results can be completely skewed and biased.

I'm not saying this to defend Tali. I'm not sure if she'd be the favourite character in a truly randomised survey, bu I at least know she'd be up there.

And while that understandable I still take it with a grain of salt, this forum is not all of Mass effect community hell I wouldn't be shocked if we were a small portion of it, any REAL number statistics come from bioware.

It has to be added that on this poll, Tali-haters and people who were trying to promote other characters may have intentionally given a poor score to tali, given the inmensely larger size of Tali-posts and supporters in this forum.

Polls are polls and can lie like a dog, spammers take advantage and will randomly select choices, it is by far very off balance at all times. Threads like these are what keeps Bioware attentiveness to Tali at a high level.

In all seriousness, I doubt anything we do will change whether or not Bioware uses Tali in ME3. I have no doubt in my mind that they've already had the min story arc for ME3 finished before ME2 was released. If they've already planned to have Tali as a squadmate or simply as an NPC, I doubt we'll change that. It's most likely too far into production to make major changes like that.

But, we can influence them on what to DO with Tali, interaction-wise!

I hope.

Wow I was offering this poll as information to actually support Tali yet I seem to get slammed for it.

As I have said in the past I really liked her character.
