Quick question: what happened to Tali's mom? I think this was mentioned in game but I can't remember

Sadly she dies from an outbreak on the Flotilla 7 years prior to ME2

this was mentioned in mass effect 2, and not 1, right?

No I think it was in ME1 that she says it.

NEway heading to bed, see you guys here in the morning or on 3.0 if it comes to that.

Found this on Deviantart. I would be very happy if this is the face Bioware used on tali, I only think the eyes should be a bit less bright.

http://st-dementia.d...Zorah-153633816

I saw this earlier, and I'll say now (approximately) what I said then: I like this interpretation, and would be thoroughly satisfied if BW were to have their own close variant. One of the better Tali-face pics I've seen.

A bit scary though, I might add.

A little. But if Bioware's were to be similar I'm sure they would soften it up in the right ways.

How.. is it scary? Have you looked at a Tuirian? next to a Tuirian that nothing.

Well yes, but Tali is not a Turian, she is a Quarian, who I find to be very attractive in my own mental picture. In fact, I'd rather Tali's face not be shown, her personality revolves around her mystery.

I think that's a bit unfair to our beloved to say her personality "revolves" around her mystery. The mystery is an element, certainly, but it is not her biggest merit. I personally am of the opinion that her face should eventually be shown.

I tend to disagree. I find that a primary reason some are attracted to Tali is due to the inability to focus on her face, as it is not shown. Think of it like blindness, if blind, other senses are enhanced. Translating to fan's attraction to Tali, more focus is on her personality than her body and face, they are concealed. This makes for mystery, "what does Tali look like?", which draws a picture in our head based on her personality as to what she looks like.

I think you're partially incorrect in your first major point. I believe that the the inability to focus on Tali's face is one of the biggest reasons many started to become attracted to her... but over the course of two games and numerous conversations with the lovely lady it is most certainly her charming personality that is the primary reason for attraction now. I find this is true of both myself and many people in this thread, who have previously relayed similar opinions. Sure, it can be fun to draw a mental image of her, but I feel there comes a time that this mysterious element of her must be cleared away. It is not essential that we see her face, but it seems like it would be a sad thing to be denied the pleasure. We've gone so long getting to know and love her, and to never be able to fully know her would just be tragic.

I see your point and I agree mostly. However I did mention that it was 'a' primary reason, not 'the' primary reason. I am quite indifferent to seeing her face, in fact, like most, I don't want to see it, but I really want to. There are actually few people that truly 100% want to see Tali's face and would die to do so, but then again, there is the large group that would like to, but grew up with Tali's face being concealed. Honestly, her mask makes her cute, you can't see an expression, so you focus on her voice. Her voice is then 'cute'. I fear that this trait will fade should her face be revealed for at least a long period of time. I wouldn't mind a glimpse though.

*nod* Her mask does make her adorable, and I certainly share in some of your concern... But overall I have faith that Bioware will deliver, and that since I already love Tali so much already, she'll seem beautiful to me regardless.

A glimpse might possibly be best, though. We'll see. :P

Well written, IMO. I'm not impartial in the debate as to whether Tali's face should be revealed or not (I favour such a move). There comes a time when curiosity for mystery must be rewarded by something tangible, otherwise it merely becomes an ongoing tease. While a certain amount of playful teasing can be enjoyable it can become trite if carried too far. Tali'Zorah's character deserves better than to become a tired, hollow tease, IMO.

I don't think it much matters past the first game's sidequests and opening scene... But yes "one" of my saves is an orphan.

D'awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww... Poor Tali, she has no family...

All the more reason for those two to get married! They both have no family.

Well, Shepard does or doesn't, depending on background. But my point remains!

My Shepard's mom - Capt. Hannah Shepard of the dreadnaught "Ishimura" - is proud of her son. I like to think she would be an accepting mother-in-law of the sweet girl that is Tali'Zorah.

Yeah so did my Shepherd. Grew up on the bad side, joined the military and became a hero. Has never found love until he met Tali.

I love how you can create your own stories in this game. Mass Effect  Rules!!

I wanted to change mine but have more or less resigned myself to the fact that the tedious and unorthodox create-your-own-avatar work around may not work for me. Oh well.....Besides, my female elven mage is gorgeous! :P
