you didnt need to virmire her you can push her away by just picking bottom right when she comes to see you after the normandy is grounded and you're waiting for the message from anderson. when joker 'interrupted' we were both just standing there arms crossed looking angry.

I wasn´t sure I still could chose not to do her after virmire...well someone had to die.

I just dropped Ash like a cigarette and took up Tali.

Same here for both 'canon' Sheps.

i would like to redo ME1 to have no romance with Ash and save it all for Tali, but i like Ash in the first one. I want my decisions to carry over like they would in real life on my main Shep. Also some drama between Ash and Tali in ME3 won't be all that bad. Tali is staying with me thoughImage IPB

Concur. Also have Dmitri (Renegade lean) Shepard playthrough without ME1 romance.

i have my decisions set in stone for ME1.

Ummm....
*gives confused thumbs up*

First of all I have the game in French, so I don't really know the names in English, but you'll understand my point.

I would like to say something about Tali in Mass Effect 2, and it also get back to the problem and bitterness I had with this game.

To be honest, looking ME2 with high-level point of view, this game is a bit odd for the following reason:

8 missions to recruit people
you meet the bad people on the colony
8 missions to get the loyalty of your teammates
1 mission on the bad people ship
1 mission on the ship that will crush in the planet
Final mission. And that's it!

I would like to remember that the main scope of an RPG game is to recreate reality in fiction. It's not just about driving a car, shooting at people or killing them with a sword. One thing that makes an RPG so great is the interaction with the NPC and their story. Who doesn't remember the death of Iris in Final Fantasy VII????? Why was that game so great?? Not because of graphics, it outstanded all it's predecessors and the later ones. It's because it created an awesome story with people with their own personality!

So here is my point. Why is this game finally good? It becomes a great game once you enter Omega 4, once you the last mission. Until you come to the final mission it's boring and linear like hell. But the last mission is just joyful. If all the game was bringing as much adrenaline as the final mission, it would become a legend!!! After half of your team dies (at least mine) and you kill the final boss, you see Tali falling from the plateform and your heart starts to beat "OMG she is going to to fall and die!!!!!!!! But no!!! You save at the last moment". And this pushed adrenaline up. THIS IS THE KIND OF SCENARIO THAT SHOULD BE PRESENT ALL ALONG AN RPG. The ***ing interaction with NPC and the attachement you get with them!

In the end, it's actually Tali that made this game great!!!! Tali will make me remember my experience with ME2. If she wasn't there, I would just have said, "ME2 is a nice game, but not too much".

I am posting this message to BIOWARE and EA. You HAVE to keep Tali in Mass Effect 3 because she is the only data in this game that made ME2 outstand the other actual RPG!!

BIOWARE MUST MAKE TALI AN OUTSTADING CHARACTER IN MASS EFFECT 3!!!

And the last thing I will say is that if ME3 will be like ME2 but without Tali, it's simple, I will NOT buy it because SHE made that the game different to any other!

I have to disagree with you.  An RPG is in the end a sum of its parts.  All RPGs have a main linear story that you must follow and many side quest that you can do or leave behind.  Along the way you get to know the characters and become deeply involved with the world.  This game does the same thing.  The character depth is well above most RPGs that I have played and there are a lot of side missions that you can do if the length of the game is a problem for you.  The fact that most RPGs wouldnt even attempt to add character life spans in the game shows you just how great this game really is.  There are so many ways things can turn out and it is all based on how you play the game.  ME2 is a great action RPG in my book and I will keep playing it not just out of love for Tali but because I really enjoyed the ride and want to see how things turn out when I change the way I handle business in the game.

I agree when you say that the main plot of ME2 is unlike many rpg's. But i'd recommend that you look at Mass Effect as the trilogy that it is. In ME1 the universe is explained to the character and he learns about the baddies, even kills one. In ME2 he assembles the best of the best and destroys a baddy stronghold. So, it's not really the story here, but it's about the assembling. And it's pretty obvious that the team will be there in ME3. It would have been a waste of Shepards time to assemble them for just one mission when the real danger is still out there and ready to pounce at humanity. So from the story point of view its not a lot of progression but instead the game focuses on the personal side of the main characters.
And it does this remarkably well. The characters are more grown up and understandable in their motives than in most other games. Heck, it's even close to the density of Vampires 2... and surpasses the latter in its presentation by far.
The one question, though, it ME2 a RPG after all? I'd say no. No character-sheet, just a couple of abilites for the quickbar. No party tactics, no XP from enemy, no looting or inventory for that matter. I'd say that it lacks pretty much everything that your normal RPG has. It's an action game with dialogs and loads of cinematics. It's very good at what it is, no arguing about that, it's just not RPG.

And yeah, Tali rocks.

Be patient! I'm having too much fun in here to spare the time to read all of it.

Whenever a new section is posted I go back and read the previous sections again to appreciate the complete picture. It makes proof reading my own work a real pain in the ass, but makes for a good way to catch little SNAFU's and other mistakes.

Rest assured that you ARE good.

I dont see why anyone would worry about that happening.  It is not like when they did the fans a service in ME2 it came with a poor story.  They will keep things solid in ME3 and all things Tali will be even better then they were in this game.

Sadly, ME2 is indeed poorly written. In terms of having a cohesive narrative, ME1 is far superior. There was way too much filler in ME2. Someone else has called ME2 a "grocery list", and that's pretty much what it is. Only Legion, Tali, Miranda, and Mordin (and the outcomes of their personal missions - except for Miranda's) have done anything to greatly affect the ME universe. Yeah, the game was awesome; the missions well designed; some of the background stories were interesting. But overall, aside from the four I mentioned, everyone else is just cannon fodder.

At least, they compensated with Liara's and Ashley/Kaidan's minimal interaction in ME2 with the comics, but I was still disappointed at how they glossed over so many things. The trouble is that this game world is massive - perhaps too much so - for BioWare to successfully incorporate everything into three games (unless the third ends up having 3 dvd's plus a 4th for a short film).

I mentioned elsewhere that ME2 is merely a narrative bridge. I have huge expectations of ME3.

Anyways. Enough of my rambling. Carry on with the Tali goddess worship ^_^

Just posting here to show my support for Tali and Talimancers everywhere.

Oh Bioware, what horrible, horrible doors you have opened for me by allowing a Tali romance in ME:2. For now, I shall never be sated, never! ME:3 only brings disappointment and heartbreak, I fear.

.........unless you let me build Tali that house. *HINT* *HINT* ;x

too much filler in ME2? when was the last time you played ME1 the only missions that weren't filler were the plot worlds, none of the side missions had ANYTHING to do with the story.

Glad to see i was not the only one who "redid" Me1 just to end up as a singel shepard.
And since Tali basicly throws herself at you at Me2 ...  <3

then pounces on top of you.
