i guarantee you that there will be some epic fight cinematic in ME3 where she uses it. I can see BioWare doing that

in the final fight after being stabbed with it she pulls it out and throws it in harbinger's face and we all win.  no wait.... that's something else.

Whilst I somewhat agree with the plot critical planets vs exposition planets argument, I put forward this counter argument:

Mass Effect 2 is all about the crew. Shepard is practically a cardboard cut out when compared to - say - Garrus, or Zaeed. The collectors are Shepard's reason for being there. Shepard is the reason for the crew being there.

The collectors are there to give all your character development a situation/events to develop in. Mass Effect 2, like all other Bioware games, is not about the destination, but the journey you take, and who you take along for the ride.

I didn't play ME2 to kill collectors, I played it for more Garrus, more Wrex, more Joker, more Chakwas, and hell - even more Liara. I played it to meet these new characters, to get to know Thane, to wreck some **** with Jack, to stomp balls with Grunt, to smash geth aside with Kal'reeger...

...and to get Joker a "girlfriend", cos we all know he's the glue that binds the crew together. We love you Jeff!

But most of all, I played ME2 to spend time with Tali.

MY  Tali (the real one), is cuddling with Shepard on my cabin's couch as we speak.  So there.

Sidenote:  Does it bug anyone else that the two wine-glasses are present on the table while sitting there with Tali?  Apparently my Shep is an insensitive ****** and likes to remind his beloved Tali that she's stuck in that suit 99% of the time and can't even share a drink with him

Thats the unique Tali, all this is for that, for we will be able to complete our romance with Tali, and have a great experience of the writters of Bioware xD

But most of all, I played ME2 to spend time with Tali.

i didn't want toget back into the discussion cuz its so off topic but i just had to say how the plot worlds in me1 aren't any more story advancing than me2's recruitment missions. in me1 you go to a planet and collect a piece of info to help find the conduit but you still don't know what it is or why saren's doing his thing. Virmire is a little different with your chat with saren but you still don't learn much and ilos/citadel equates with the collector base. in me2 you go to a world to gain something to fight the collectors, afterwards you still don't know what theyre doing or why.

....and then I will buy Barbie's Malibu Dreamhouse, and assemble it with Shepard's own tiny plastic hands within a fully decorated sandbox to fulfill that promise in her father's stead.
