I have to admit that I'm kind of surprised that this thread, instead of degenerating into flame-wars and such, actually allows people to have decent conversation on controversial topics. And this, hundreds of pages after hundreds of pages. And even with the ocasional troll here and there, stirring things up.
Beside the usual game-related topics, we have religion, exobiology, house-building, AI behaviour, and the list can go on and on... (and that's only what I have skimmed from about page 300 onwards)
It's clear - Tali brings out the best in everyone! BioWare - you have to have Tali in ME3, if you want an *epic* conclusion to the trilogy!
[EDIT: formatting issues]
It's funny that you say that, I recently said the same in a Liara thread. I think the people frequenting threads like these have learned to deal with the people who justt want to disrupt threads like these. Also the moderators won't tolerate it. And... The people filling the thread with hundreds of pages can't be all mad.
Keep up the good work.
Cheers AFW!
However, we have only had one single moderator officially post in this thread and that was around page 580. We also only had one official post from a moderator in the old thread and that was from Stanley Woo and his pimp ninja hand informing us that the thread of 380 pages had come to an end.
How are things over in Liara land?
I don't post a lot in those. However, recently I did, because I saw some people posting there that actually made sense and had views about the game that matched mine.
BTW: Sorry for the long post.

About Liara... I think a lot of the fans are disappointed by the brief cameo appearance. The awkward embrace and a picture on Shepard's desk is all they get. Every other part of the dialog is the same whether Liara was your LI or not. I for one am pretty disappointed. But I also have another minority view on the issue and I won't bother you with that (it will only derail the topic at hand).
About Tali... I have 13 ME1 saved games (and in all of them Liara was my LI). In most of these I often had Tali with me. At first I didn't use her much, but when I tried her at a high level in some mission I heard a couple of bangs followed by a loud explosion and saw a geth Juggernaut dropping. Surprised I turned around and saw Tali hunting another. Carnage rules! Hehe. From that time on she was a regular team mate. I think I used her a lot in the end game.
However, in ME2 I feel she is not as powerful. I take her along with me when there are lots of geth or androids in the mission, though. The devs shouldn't have taken away carnage. What the hell were they thinking.
I really love Tali's missions in ME2. It was really cool to see the flotilla and more of the quarians. It was nice to talk to some of the quarians you met earlier and the admirals.
The paragon interrupt (the famous hug) was brilliant! It brought a tear to me eye.
I won't be romancing Tali, though. My characters will stay loyal to Liara or be single. I have no other LIs besides Liara. I couldn't stand the others. And most of my characters are female, so that rules out Tali.
What disturbed me about Tali is that she seems to have no memory at all. If you are mean to her in ME1 or if you didn't give her the geth data then she doesn't mind at all in ME2. She will still welcome you with open arms. Now that's silly.
I hope you people are not mad at me for saying this... But it seems that the devs were too busy removing RPG elements from ME2. And that also caused the dialogs to suffer. If you are a FemShep then you can actually romance Tali up to a certain point and then the topic dies. In fact that seems to be true for nearly all characters. In ME1 you can talk to characters about other topics than romance. Romance was an additional topic. In ME2 you only have about 3 topics that stay the same throughout the game and the romance topic. Even Mordin thinks you are trying to romance him if you talk to him long enough. There are exceptions. Samara and Thane come to mind.. I think the way the devs handled dialogs is shallow. No depth at all. Sorry. I may have a minority view on this.
And don't get me started on Garrus. I made sure he became a proper paragon in ME1 and I find him doing things I convinced him not to do in ME1. All of a sudden I have to do a loyalty mission which turns out to be some personal vendetta thingie. Yeah... I know. The Council went renegade, but that is my problem with it. None of the Council/Anderson/Udina choices affected the game. Everything still played out the same. So much for the game decisions having a real impact.
One of the best things I have found in ME2 were the friendly geth. I remember that I started a thread on the old boards in which I said that I could not believe that all geth are evil. It would not make sense if the geth were sentient and capable of creative and independent thought. I also said that their religion must have been some kind of indoctrination from the reapers. And it was cool that these geth actually turned out to be the heretics in ME2. It almost felt like a personal victory. Nearly everyone else thought I was mad. Legion was cool. Too bad he turned up late in the game.

Sorry, if I derailed the thread. I tried to stay on topic. But I am Easily Sidetracked (name of a DA:O achievement).
Have fun.
