Ok i am curious....who do you guys think is the Canon Love Interest in 2.....I really believe it is Tali in my opinion....
But I get the impression sometimes it was intended to be Miranda.
It's really hard to tell, there's so many possible hints for all of them.
Miranda- hired established actress to VO her and be her face
Jack- The Dev team talk about her alot in interviews, including Casey Hudson
Tali- cuz she's friggin incredible! Also, a returning character, and the first of your old team that you meet in the game.
then there's always
Ashley- sort of the canon for ME1 apparently
Liara- probably the most common LI choice in ME1
So i dunno. Seriously hope it's Tali tho
While I know you can pick who you want to be with there are still some things that stand in this games on going story. I beleive that Liara is the true intended LI of the ME trilogy and that Tali is their strong second. Both characters care for you deeply and they both hurt over your death and continued to either think about you and do things for you. This is dispite how you may have treated them in ME1.
Hmmm....you make a valid point....cause Liara does continue to help....but to me Tali is ahead of Liara because she actively cared about while you were dead and then wants to be with you. Liara kind of acts like she moved on and changed.
Liara was the one who went hunting for Shepard's body and worked with Cerberus to get him for their Lazarus project. Liara cared. Liara probably still cares.
but she still wants to flay the shadow broker... WITH HER MIND!
Am I the only one that thinks Liara's story arc makes a lot more sense if you didn't romance her? The whole recovering your body thing is nice, but I don't see it as an act of love, more like something that any good friend would do. The fact that she's willing to go in a completely different direction in the second game only strengthens that point. If she really loved you she would rather be with you getting revenge on the people that killed you rather than trying to get revenge on someone who tried to profit from your death.
Cared about you enough to save you, but not enough to go through hell with you. Sounds like a good friend, not a true love to me.
The same could be said for Ashley. She is way too quick to turn on you, she doesn't even listen to your story. If she truly loved you she would at least see for herself where Cerberus' motivations were.
IMO, Bioware really messed up by trying to play ME1's love interests as true loves. To me, they both just seem like quick flings, and the characters actions in ME2 only make that more obvious. Two conversations, one time having sex and two years being dead does not make a long lasting relationship.
Oh, and <3 Tali
