Tali'Zorah nar Rayya. It may be 688+ pages on the second (or 10th, depending on who's counting) Tali thread, and yet I STILL can't believe Bioware acquiesced to our desire to romance her in ME2. I always thought I was a minority for liking her more than Ashley or Liara, but she was just too cute, too charming, too non-assuming, too self-less, too exotic, and too sweet not to like.
And now in ME2, everything, EVERYTHING just "works" perfectly. It feels so natural. It makes sense. It's handled in a realistic, mature, sweet, and believable way. More than any other "romance" it FEELS like a romance, rather than a couple of saucy innuendos or flirting like with the other LIs. This was something that built up over time, years, a proverbial powder keg waiting for the right spark (thank you, Kelly, for alerting me to this...)
And I love how the relationship still isn't going to be easy. The complications and risks were addressed and minimized, but a relationship like this can't be "just a fling". It would require lots of work, sacrifice, commitment.... basically, all the best qualities of true love. And yet, Tali risks everything she is, puts her life entirely in your hands, and demonstrates the most intimate and personal display of love and trust anybody could ever demonstrate... and that certainly serves as a key motivator to step it up for her. She could have done what others in her culture did, but she wouldn't do that for you. She felt you deserved better... and by extension, she deserved the best.
Strange that you're the savior of the Citadel, the hero of the galaxy, the paradigm of humanity, the champion of the Alliance... and yet around Tali all those achievements pale in comparison to being the man she wants and needs you to be. No other romantic interest evokes that same feeling of nobility, of strength. Tali is unique in that, and that's precisely what makes her not just great, but perfect.

Who else wants to punch the c-sec officer and the volus on the citadel? Wish you could give that quarian some money, plus they were insulting Tali!!

Not really meaning to but in here, but I feel like I should. I just read "My Choices, My Mistakes" from the first page, and...damn. That was pretty excellent writing, congratulations to the author.
I read it to after you mentioned it: heart-wrenching to say the least. Whoever wrote this is incredibly talented though: I wish as a writer I had the ability to capture emotions that well.
Good morning ladies and gentlemen!
Aye, that story "My Choices, My Mistakes" had me crying several times. There are some spelling errors, etc. yet the story is so emotionally potent and well put together that one can easily ignore the minor flaws and savour the story telling itself.
Two thumbs up from my quarter.

Dude I totally waited to bring Tali with me to this on my 2nd playthrough and I was so pissed off at the end result. I mean I have 500,000 credits here... Why the F cant I buy her a ship? Or hey there was that MSV Strontium Mule and she IS a quarian.
As tali said. "Shepard please, Im a quarian! Give me a hunk of scrap metal a circuit board and some element zero and I will have it doing precision jumps!"
So why can't I give the broken freighter that I rescued with a busted FTL drive to the Quarian on pilgrimage? I mean I can give the one on Omega a thousand credits but I can't give this one a busted up freighter?

i agree on all that everyone has said about the quarian in the citadel, plus the usual attitude given to the quarians
but the attitude is caused by the creation of the geth, the flotilla kinda acting like a hive of locust when they enter a system, and i imagine after the geth attack on the citedal, it'd be even worse.

I think shoving the Volus and making that C-sec officer look like an inept racist was plenty for her. She was after all shopping for used ships before she was bumped into
