Alright. It's finished. I've done and re-done it. Listened to it repeatedly. Fine polished and tuned it more than once....And it's as close to having the "tender" feel I wanted for it. I'm satisfied. Without further ado, ladies and gentlemen, I present to you: Solar Flower (Tali'Zorah vas Normandy)
Good stuff mate. It has got a good feel. But i kinda was lost in there.
Ummm, when i was listening, i kinda would have wanted/expected the
songs progression to be a bit different.
Kinda like in "Battle March". You know, you build up to the song up based on
how the emotions and the relationship progresses.
So in that sense the start could have been a bit darker and not as cheery.
Then it builds up to the cheeriness. Than comes the sad part, her fathers
death, as an very important part of Tali's life/story. And then after that to
tender loving bit, then the "Battle March" with some added darkness and heaviness,
to signify the last fight. And after that is done and you have more time for her,
then it would go back to the tender emotions, what you could associate with
laying on the bed and cuddling her after it is all finished.
That is what i was thinking.
But you probably didnt meant to make this song to tell a story like that.
And i still like it. It is nice. I like the airiness and running around on meadows
and fields and chasing butterflies. It is good.
Glad you liked it, Thompson, and thanks for the feedback. You are right on the money in regards to wanting to create a sense of "running around on meadows and fields and chasing butterflies". That is the sensation I was aiming for. The piece grew out of a desire I've had to compose something for Tali and an homage to the burgeoning love relationship between Tali and Shepard. Previously such efforts ended up not being satisfactory by my own standards. "Solar Flower (Tali'Zorah vas Normandy)" sort of ended up merging elements from both scenarios and focusing more on a light, breezy sensation of love as opposed to loss and sorrow. I'd love to do an expanded version someday covering Tali's life as we have come to experience it through the ME games, though it would probably run in to 15-30 minutes of length, if not more.
