The closest analogy I can find would be the Matrix. They're controlling something non-existant when they jack in to the Matrix, but any damage they suffer gets translated to their real-world body. If the mind perceives the pain as real, it becomes real. If they die in the Matrix, their mind dies, and hence, their body dies.

With the exception of Neo and Trinity, of course. <_<

Harbinger has been destroyed. Soverign has failed. Now you must all bow before Shepard. Shepard has been uploaded into this Reaper form for.... error... error. I delete data like you on my way to real problems.... critical error... the galaxy is in danger and you should fix it yourself....

Didn't you hear him at the end? "Releasing control" Harbinger was disconnecting himself mentally from the Collector general so that he wouldn't be taken out like Sovereign was.

If you remember correctly, Sovereign was killed because he was connected to Saren's body, and when Shep destroyed Saren's body, he destroyed Sovereign because Sovereign was possessing Saren's body.

So Harbinger didn't want to suffer a similar fate.

You know what this proves to me? That the Geth are superior to the Old Machines. The Geth do not die. They simply upload COPIES of their programs to mobile platforms. Therefore if the platform is destroyed....the Geth survive to be copied again.

Reapers need to study their minions imo

The Geth are many VI interconnected to make one AI.
The Reapers are each a single AI. Sovereign was one AI. Harbinger is one AI.

Actually this may be true from technical point of view. It's alike you cut and paste something on a pendrive, then damage it. You know the consequences. And still, Reapers alike geth aren't bio-mechanics, they are programs. Only their moving platforms ( like souvereign the ship ) are strange bio-mechanic constructs.

Depends on your point of view. In the literal term of the world, they 'had sex.'

In the metaphorical term, they 'made love.' But they still had sex!

Hm, I think Sovereign was rather only weakened enough by Sarens death to get destroyed by the fleet, rather than dying outright because of it.
