Yeah i brought that up on the old thread, but like everything i say they thought i was "overreacting"...
It seems quite clear to me, based off of his other comments earlier in the game, that Kenneth pretends to be a chauvinist rogue with risque and sexually provocative jibs yet without any real intent of hurting nor causing offence to anyone. It's humor and while he may indeed admire Tali's curves it's not as though he's hanging over her shoulder trying to grope her. Let's be frank: Tali does have a very attractive figure by human standards. If Kenneth takes a peek from afar now and then so what? As long as Tali stays loyal and Kenneth doesn't do more than that no harm done. Jealousy is for the most part born out of insecurity.

I don't want it to sound rude about Tali herself, but her personality in many books appears very often. I won't bring back any of those, but there is always some character that has a beutifull soul ( mostly also looks ), hidden behind a wall of stereotypes, obstacles that stand in the one's way. In Tali's case, those are health problems ( immune system stuff ), the fact of wearing a life supporting mask that hides her expressions, being too shy to express true feelings towards Shepard.XX55XX wrote...
Have any of you guys read Great Expectations by Charles Dickens? I am reading it as part of homework right now and the character Biddy (Pip's friend) reminds a fair deal of Tali. She is sweet and gentle, stern, yet not harsh.
I can find Tali-like characters anywhere now!

So Tali was built out of a stereotype. Makes sense.

although her personality may seem a bit cliché thats doesn't mean its not good... and it doesn't mean her character isn't unoriginal... take a look at the movie Avatar the story in that movie was so cliché yet the movie itself was still good...

But being like this in the first place, gives the game developers a chance to let her turn the fate's judgement. The joy of revealing her "soul" was one of, if not the greatest RPG game's plot we have seen.XX55XX wrote...

I don't have a sister, but I would say that if you are saying that on a civilized tone, I wouldn't mind. Appreciating beauty (either character or physical) is not wrong. Being a d**k about it is wrong.
Based on this, yes, I don't have a problem with Kal and Tali.

You know, I already tought about Avatar too. In it, the whole Na'vi population were alike Tali only. Foreign, shadowy in some way, insecure, untrustfull. But after a closer look it made Sully ( the main character ) leave everything he has achieved as a human, just to live along with Na'vi.Admiral-165 wrote...

As it so happens I have a sister that is, by classical Western standards and according to the opinions of many, many people spanning four different continents, very attractive - even beautiful. I've had classmates, friends, strangers, etc. make comments to me, tease me about it, etc. While part of my emotional side may at times have felt defensive I still preside over my rational side and can choose how to react to the banter. Jealousy may be justified in some instances though that would often mean that your love interest is reciprocating the advances of another in which case you may have other things to consider than being jealous at the third party (namely, whether you even wish to continue being in the relationship with the love interest). There is a difference between being jealous and being offended.
Feel free to tell me that you think my sister is hot. I agree that I have a good looking sister and she's a wonderful sister, and one of my best friends, to boot. She can take care of herself and happens to be married to a giant of a man (who's a good guy) so by all means, knock yourself out!

I think archetype might be the word you're looking for. If so, then I agree. All great characters in literature share qualities with an archetype. And Tali is truly a great character, and BioWare has advanced game design to an art.

Although that hasn't actually happened so to speak in ME yet (Shepard leaving the humans to be with Tali and the Quarians). In a way it has since hes in love with Tali... so i guess emotionally he's left the humans but physically he hasn't... if that makes sense...

Yeah, they spend all that time down in the engineering alone...
Though someone somewhere suggested Ken, gabby and Tali, implications disturbing
