A salient point...It is also one reason, amongst several others, why we would promptly build an enormous interstella fleet and be prepared to blow anything that so much as twitches at us in a perceived hostile manner to smithereens. Nothing quite warms a beating heart than overbearing firepower. :P In all seriousness though, there would certainly be a need for space naval capabilities. To protect civilian and military installations. To mount rescue operations when and where needed. To patrol and uphold the rule of law against pirates, other criminal elements and possibly secessionist colonies (though I would like to think they could be kept on board with a free and fair federal senate)....Oh, and just in case we should end up bumping in to something that's less than friendly it's always a sound policy to be able to hold and defend what you possess.

Who knows. Maybe we do find something on mars that jumps our technology 200 years ahead O.o

Dang it NASA! GO TO MARS ALREADY!

If Obama gets his way they are going to cancel all plans for mars and moon missions and focus on climatology instead... Image IPB Looks like our only hope for discovering that tech is China (plans to go to mars Image IPB) or Russia (I don't know if they do, but they might. They certainly have the tech advantage )

Which reminds me of a more contemporary debate. It has been argued that instead of setting aside upwards of 700 billion US dollars on keeping down pollution, etc. and spending some 40 billion US dollars on new energy technology, those figures should in fact be reversed. I agree with this idea. If we hit upon a plentiful energy source which may also be cleaner (fusion anyone?) it would go straight to the root of the problem and it's possible consequences (i.e. global warming). The current approach seems more akin to putting a band-aid on a gaping open heart surgery wound.

To relate that to what you were typing, sure, it would be fascinating if we found advanced alien technology (and presuming it didn't destroy us in our reverse engineering attempts), yet since that's a very big "what if" scenario I advocate that we commit ourselves, our resources and our skills to developing our own technological solutions. As things currently stand we have to depend on ourselves. This mentality incidentally reflects that of the true Geth. ^_^

For me it resembles some neurological responses to visual triggers.

China will have the advantage over Russia in due time. Russia's aging and delapidated aero industry is not what it used to be and the rest of Russia's infrastructure certainly does not seem to be up to snuff. It's a "Dutch" oil economy. If they want to establish a stable, long term society they need to develop other areas of their system, such as education/knowledge and high tech industries along with the accompanying service sectors to create an information-based economy as seen by some of the more successful Western nations. That said, that does need to be balanced with retaining some industrial capabilities. Outsource too much of that capacity and eventually you may find your country can't do much at all for a generation or two until its industrial sector is rebuilt. At the end of the day a physically tangible product has real value (ideas and knowledge too if applied in certain ways), whereas confusing financial schemes and figures have no value other than the earnings they may (or may not as we have witnessed) bring some silent partner in a firm. The Western nations would be wise to bear this in mind as well with regards to industrial output capabilities.

Addendum: I grow uneasy at the prospect of a Chinese superpower. Thus I hope to see America continue as a superpower as well, even if the world once more becomes bi-polar from a political ideological perspective reminiscent of the Cold War.

I wasn't a particularly big Tali fan in Mass1, she was okay, but she was more like a Codex entry with ample hips, a perky bussom, and a sexy voice. (Not that CodexGuy is a slacker!)

In Mass2, her characterization really did come out. It was a little teary eyed moment when she revealed her feelings for Shepard that had been brooding since mass1. I think I could relate to the "Shock" of that situation that it seems Shepard is meant to be hit by. Easily the best Romance of the Mass series so far. The rest come off as "Blowing off steam" situations.

No part of me has any Doubt that we will see Tali in Mass3, Relationships in Both 1 and 2 are supposed to carry over to 3, and 3 being the end of the Reaper trilogy, and with probably a blank-check backing it because of it's critical and public acclaim, it's fairly safe to say (Developer's sanity willing) Mass3 is going to go "All the way".

A little off topic, but I hope Morinth is a bigger character (Assuming you had high enough persuasion ability) since as far as a character, Morith beat down Samara, especially given how brief your time with Morinth is.

I just listened to the Casey Hudson interview in the Bombcast, and he basically said the Tali romance was basically a product of fan wishes after the first game (Garrus's too) So fans DO make a difference!

Tali was meant to be a love interest in the first game but one of the devs mentioned "chicken feet" and thought that would be a massive turn off, how wrong they were.

Well stated and I agree, except for the bit about Samara. :P True, I didn't spend much time with Morinth apart from Samara's loyalty mission (delicious voice work from both ladies, IMO). Bring Morinth/Samara back in ME3 and make them love interests by all means!

That's not what I've heard from some of the Devs.. Usually they say "They never thought anyone would want her as a LI considering she had what one of the devs called *chicken's feet*"

You can definitely romance (at your own risk) Morinth after you complete the Suicide Mission.

At first i didint even understand she was a diffrent race i thought she was an asari in a space suit cause she was an engineer
