Shepard fell for her when you did. Are Shepard, albeit in limited fashion.

I think it was a growing attraction. Initial attraction at Shepard for being in the nick of time, then accepting her into the crew. She got to serve on one of the most advanced warships in the galaxy, and I think that helped as well as treating her like an equal. I don't think many species do that for quarians in general. Then getting her the geth data probably sealed the deal for her, but she had the hurdle of her suit to overcome. Thankfully, she does in 2.

I think Tali fell in love with you during the course of ME1. You captured her interest right from the very beginning when you saved her life. Immediate interest generated there.

Then as things progressed, that interest grew. When you talk and check up on her, she grows very open with you. First she talks about your ship, then she talks about her people, then she talks about her family and finally herself.

As I stated elsewhere, even after her pilgrimage was over, Jacob informs you that she was still on the Normandy... with you. And when Tali confesses her feelings, she talks specifically about Feros and Virmire, so it's likely she fell in love with you during those missions.

I think the glowing eyes are really artistic license to allow for a little visual communication and expression.  If we could not see her blink or hold a steady gaze (such as when she levels a glare at Jacob when you first get her on board the Normandy in ME2) she might not be as engaging.  The glow could also be reflected light and not actually a glow at all.  Consider the glow cats' eyes get at night.

Given the somewhat *crash* crazy nature of the Thread today, this may be coming down a little late, or someone may beat me to this observation, but, the glowing Eyes of the Quarians makes sense if you take into account Haestrom. All the Major population areas there were underground, and keep in mind that this was before the Dark Energy event turned Haestrom's Sun into a Celestial Blow Tourch. If the Quarian people were, by nature, a subteranean-centric species, which does not exclude for some above ground habitation, it is likely they would develope a means to navigate in low light visibility. Many Earth-based life forms that are subteranean or at least spend a great deal of time in dark places tend to develope photo-sensitive eyes or, Like Alpha said, bioluminesence.

I haven't really been reading any Mass Effect fanfiction, let alone Tali romance fanfiction, but I've got to wonder what "rape fantasy" means. Did someone read one story of that nature and generalize? Or is the idea that just plain liking Tali is a rape fantasy for some reason?
