Instead of the toggle button.
I think if it came to it I would possibly pay (a small nominal amount) to get the armor with the helmet.
I agree with everyone that state that they have not used any DLC armor due to the fact that the main characters face is not visible.
Something for BW to note : if I was asked to pay for DLC armor in the future and it came only with a helmet I would not purchase it.
Does everyone agree?

Couldn't they just release the armor meshes without the helmet? So have one set with and one without. That would satisfy everyone?

They could release the armor without the helmet, rather than a toggle, but they'd still need to rebuild it. Thats literally the hurdle at the moment. They cant just impliment a toggle button or anything. The actual structure of the armor is a single mesh and texture. They'd have to go b ack and rebuild the armor without the helmet, and then rebuild the texture. Sadly that extra work is probably why we wont see it happenin.
But yeah, I totally agree when it comes for future armor. Its frustrating that the current armor is a single mesh, and I think BioWare made a mistake there, but if they dont want to go back and change that I can understand. Future stuff that I have to pay for? I expect removable helments. They fans have voiced their complaint, and if we're paying for the content we should be getting the best quality.
Oh, and the group has now reached 300+ members! Fantastic!

Perhaps when they take the time to go back over the static structures and repair the bounding issues that cause the absurd clipping into objects/on-to bounding boxes they'll also break apart the helmet... and maybe we'll see a Xenon invasion too in ME3... both seem about as equally likely to happen.

Fixing the game for unsupported single core CPUs was extra work. They did it.
They could do the same for armors.

Yeah, but they probably wont. I dont know how much work was created for the CPU altering. Some testing involved obviously, but it could have been as something as 'simple' as reworking some code in how it recognises and uses CPU cores. As BioWare stated, they were not toally sure the 'fix' would work for everybody anyway as the game was not designed for single cores.
For the armors they're literally going to have to overhaul the mesh and texture, rebuild them, repackage them, and re-program their use in the game. Based on how the armor system is set up they'd probably have to patch the core game too to recognise 'head/body' parts for extra armor, since they currently work on their own tab.
Throw in testing to make sure everything works, and you've got a pretty unlikely scenario.

But really, has Bioware addressed this issue yet? I have heard stuff here and there about how this fix will not happen... but where did these info came from?

This group has reached 300+ members, and there's still tons of people out there who love Bioware's games but don't bother with forums - and I'm certain the majority of em would agree with us here. heck I'm friends with 5 such people & every one of em has echoed our discontent about helmets, and you guessed it - they don't bother with any of the DLC armor either for this exact reason.
Luckily, this is Bioware, I have no doubt our voices have been heard. Although I doubt anything will be done about the current state of affairs, I'm pretty certain we wont run into this helmet issue again in the future.
And if that proves to be the case, then I'm happy.

From someone who has been involved in texture modification in the past, there are usually two sets of images. One set is layered and easily editable, and the other is the flattened set the end user recieves.
I haven't done alot of mesh editing, but I know from a friend of mine that he usually keeps a set of project files that are easily editable in 3DSMax, and a set of working models that have been exported for specific use and are no longer easily editable.
I promise you Bioware still has the working editable project files.
Furthermore, a mesh can reference different areas of the same texture.
It could also be similar to the Chinese Stealth Armor in Fallout 3. Everyone assumed it was all one mesh since you couldn't remove the helmet. But when you actually got into the toolkit, you found that the armor already had separate meshes, but that they had assembled the two pieces together as one item in the toolkit, making them easy to separate into two pieces of armor.
This is nowhere near as difficult to fix as you are implying.

Color customization on the DLC armors would be grand as well.

I know, I just dont see them making the change. They dont come to work to sit on their hands and I can imagine most of their time is occupied with other things.
Not that I'd shy away from a change. That is partly the point of the group and this thread after all

And remember, joining the group is not about getting the change right now. Its about your opinion on the matter being heard, whether BioWare make the change or not. Even if they choose to leave the armor unaltered, voicing your opinion gives them knowledge for the future.
So dont be disheartened!
