Mad-Hamlet.

There is raging debate within Bioware over the issue of helmets. Factional fighting and duels at 10 paces between team members. Its a contentious issue in the development of all their games.

Dragon Age has the same problem :)

Someone high up at Bioware clearly loves bucket heads, taking affirmative action to insure their continued existence in games, in the face of populist opinion.

Hopefully people will voice some support for this in this thread. I'm not confident it will change anything, but it would be really nice to be given that option.

My hope: That an actual helmet toggle is released sometime before ME3....

The more likely scenario:  Probably wont happen....

The squad ammo patch, we all knew was actually going to happen at some point...It was really a matter of time before they did it...This, however, probably wont but I am on the bandwagon of false hopefuls that somehow, sometime, that it DOES happen XD

wow 4 months and this issue hasn't been touched :( just started playing today and the lack of inventory etc is annoying but i spose i'll deal with it. but having dragon armour i cant use without looking like a muppet at points seems a little slack.

i agree the most important thing for me in conversations is to see Shepard's face, without that element the talking parts arnt as strong.

Not allowing player's to toggle helmets on or off is more than just an oversight - it is a serious blunder and I will list the reasons why:

Character customization is primarily focused on face - so wouldn't logic dictate that quite a few players who use this feature would want to see their characters face versus a 'static' helm?

Mass Effect 2 developers have done a superb job in how the character's show expressions during dialogue etc.  I imagine considerable time and effort went into this and if so why cover it up?  At least give gamers the ability to choose to see the amazing facial expression animations - no?

I understand that 'pleasing' gamers is not an easy task and developers are pressed on so many fronts but this issue with Mass Effect 2 really takes away/lessens from what is otherwise an incredible gaming experience.

Signed, uhm same reason as everyone else, put a whole lot of effort into making my female Shepard into looking attractive, don't want all that effort going to waste

True, support is still here. But why support and say 'I guess I'll deal with it'... We need to actually make a stand here instead of just pointing this out as annoying.

Unless you intend to firebomb the BioWare studios (which wont fix anything) there's really not much anybody can do other than vocalise their annoyance.

Well, I've only just got the game and only got as far as the first mission the Cerburus boss gives you. Thats ooh, three conversations and already I'm wishing I could toggle the helmet off, Or at least have Sheperd take it of automatically during conversations.

So +1 vote.

Seems such a shame to allow users to spend ages tweeking how Sheperd looks, only to have him or her hidden behind a helmet.

Can't be all negative though, I'm loving the visuals! The bit going through vacuum on the Normandy at the beggining had me stopping to gawk, fantastic work BioWare!

although I do get a chuckle every time Shepard gets a drink with the helmet on. Is there a drinking tube I don't see and if not why is he not wearing his/her drink?

You have my support. I am a bit of a DLC junkie so I bought pretty much all the ME2 DLC right after installing the game to get the full experience on my first playthrough. But the DLC armours are pretty much useless because I cannot toggle the helmets off.

So still nothing on this? I have to say after months of this and still nothing from Bioware about adding a simple ****ing goddamn TOGGLE, they probably aren't going to bother. There are many things I can understand from a design perspective, this however, is probably one of the dumbest things I've ever seen. If only for the fact its freaking SIMPLE compared to most issues. It's just a goddamn helmet option Biosuck. You had it in ME1, put it back in ME2. Not. Freaking. Hard.

Sadly no word from BioWare. I do wonder if the Aegis' pack and armor included is somewhat of a response to this complaint, in that BioWare will push customisable armor for the future. One can only hope.

It does bug me when you are on Tali's loyalty mission when she see's her father lying there I'd really like to see Shepard's look on his face when he give's her a hug
