When I was playing on easy this was not an issue, but now as I play on
insanity I mentioned that armor sets that should provide additional
ammo do not work at all.

Without upgrade my M-8 Avenger had 40
in a clip and 400 in reserve. When I apply 10% additional ammo it
should provide me with 440 in reserve but instead I have still 400.

I had 3 playthroughs and every time its same problem.

How can I check if other stats of armor work at all?

I got extra ammo when I wore the belt (hand cannon pistol had 1 more round - 19 instead of 18 and the sniper rifle had quite a few extra rounds but not sure of exact number), don't know about the assault rifle as I never used it.
