It is pretty disappointing how late in game Legion is, good thing you can keep playing after credits and talk to him more.

Easiest way its worked for me so far is having everyone loyal before going to the derelict reaper, then wake up Legion and talk to him again after his intro to activate his mission and go straight there.



Had a 100% loyal squad and the next time I activated the galaxy map it triggered the shuttle/joker sequence. Dont know if it mattered but I also had a few open assignments as well. And the ship was fully upgraded before heading to the reaper.

something strange was happened. during playing second time, after IFF, I rescued legion. but when I went to Al core, there was nobody. not even legion. I have no idea. he was just disappeared. or because IFF virus infiltrated Normandy, collector machine just killed him? I don't know. is it bug or not?

I don't really see how so many people can have this issue, talk to Legion after you get him, you immediately get his loyalty mission if you explore all possible dialogue... you go do that mission, then the IFF triggers, play as joker, then go through relay, save crew, kick ass. Just make sure you talk to Legion enough... this shouldn't be a problem!

sbear, you are almost right. This is how it goes:

1. Acquire Reaper iff and Legion

2. Activate Legion receive quest

3. a. SOMETIMES (dependent upon how many missions you have completed) The IFF and crew abduction will trigger here. If it does don't panic you can still do Legions side quest and save the crew.

3. b. If you have not done many missions at this point, the IFF and crew abduction will not trigger yet.

4. If 3.a. or 3.b. occur do legion's side quest anyway the crew will still survive if you go straight to step 5 after doing so.

5. Launch suicide mission.



What causes the death of the crew is how long you take to launch the suicide mission after the abduction. You have time only for one mission, no more. Any longer and all but Dr. Chakwas get killed and you have to watch Kelly Chambers get liquefied (just the thought of it makes me sad). If you waste no time however you watch Lilith from Horizon die.



Speaking of Horizon, can anyone tell me how Ash/ Kaiden don't get collected after being paralyzed? I'm still confused about that one.

This glitch just happened to my friend.  He said that the game cut immediately from the IFF debrief to the abduction intro without even giving him control of his character to run downstairs and activate Legion.  If this is truly the case, then it is not the fault of the people experiencing the glitch...  At least, not as far as their behaviors post-IFF as they have no chance to even do anything "wrong" before the abduction takes place.  There may be an unknown factor prior to the IFF mission that causes the immediate transition, but the evidence still seems to point toward this being a glitch.

Glitch aside, much of the information in this thread is contradictory to my personal experience.

1.  After obtaining the IFF, I immediately talked to Legion and got his quest.  From there, I did two N7 missions in the cluster that opened up with Legion's quest and the crew was abducted on my third mission:  Legion's loyalty quest.  Prior to the IFF mission, I literally cleaned out the galaxy of potential activities.  I had everyone loyal (except Legion obviously), everything researched (including the Med-Bay upgrade), all planets explored, and no outstanding side quests with the exception of that Salarian fetch-quest on Omega that I heard is bugged depending on how you handle it.  I had accomplished everything possible prior to the abduction, yet I still had two full missions before the abduction took place.  Clearly, being prepared for the endgame does not expedite its arrival.  The only thing this does not account for is the completion of Legion's loyalty quest prior to the abduction, but that exact point of discussion has absolutely nothing to do with ship upgrades.

2.  Following the abduction, I finished up Legion's loyalty quest and went straight to the Omega 4 Relay.  Half the crew died.  Based on this observation, it can be concluded that there is time for zero missions between the abduction and the endgame if you want to save the whole crew.  Some people are stating that you have time for one mission after the abduction, but this is untrue.  If you want to save the whole crew, you must go through the relay immediately following the abudction.

EDIT:  On point two, perhaps there is a variable factor involved as has been pointed out by the above poster (who ninja'ed my spot).  However, the fact remains that the only surefire way to save the whole crew is to go immediately from the abduction to the relay.

The Collector attack has a countdown, it will happen in around 2 mass relay trips after you get the IFF. Waiting to upgrade does nothing to delay it, since I got all of my upgrades after the kidnapping. It doesn't matter if you did Legion's Loyalty or someone elses, what matters if if you used the Mass Effect Relay or go on any mission.

I just did this and After getting it, I was able to do Tali's and Legion's quest.

Yeah, it's true about the game taking control. Allow me to interpret my point.



Playthrough 1: Completed All loyalty missions expect legion's (no N7 missions done). Acquired IFF + Legion. Activated Legion. Got Quest Immediately. Finished his quest. IFF got installed right after completing his mission and the abduction took place.



Playthrough 2: Completed All loyalty missions expect legion's. Acquired IFF + Legion. Activated Legion. Completed one N7 mission. Talked to Legion/got his loyalty mission. Completed 'A house divided' mission. IFF Installed and Abduction got triggered immediately.



Playthrough 3: Completed All loyalty missions expect legion's (no N7 missions done). Acquired IFF + Legion. Activated Legion. Got Quest Immediately. Went to the CIC Deck. EDI immediately informed me of the IFF instalation being finished and shuttle reccomendation. Went to Galaxy Map. Got Screwed!



I think it had to do with the fact that i had Kasumi and Zaeed's missions/recruitment early or later in the game. I was really ticked off and reloaded a save wherein I just finished acquiring legion. I rushed immediately to talk to him/it and got the loyalty mission. Sure enough, i timed my arrival on the CIC deck and after 1-2 conversations with Joker and Kelly EDI opened her Trap about the IFF being finished!!!

I've had it where it's taken so long to install the IFF that I've had to look up missions to do.

Ive managed to save my entire crew everytime I played, accpet the first time I played the game because I was not aware that there was a time limit set on when your crew gets kidnapped and spent quite a bit of time getting resources and such (to my ever lasting embarassment).

My suggestion, do every loyalty quest you want to do, get every ugrade you want (medbay is not neccessary 50k platinum are you serious??!! just to fix my face???) and do every side quest you want to do before doing the IFF mission. Once you have done it Edi tells you that you have to wait for the IFF to integrate, this gives you enough time to talk to Legion, open his Loyalty quest and get it done. The next time you hit the starmap, the cut scene where your squad all leave the ship in the shuttle should pop up. Joker saves the ship and so on and so forth. Hit the Omega 4 Relay immediately after this.



Save the crew.

I successfully got my entire squad through and rescued the entire normandy crew on insanity.



Although some of my squad were disloyal.

Exactly, however what I need to find out next is how to use Legion for a teammate on Tali's loyalty mission(coolest conversations I think). I've done it but got nabbed for IFF/Joker cut-scene before being able to do Legions loyalty mission. I think I'll try again without talking to legion about his loyalty mission until after Tali's and see if it still gets triggered.

Yes but my point was is that if you experienced that situation with the map, you must have found a lucky glitch because as far as I am aware, the ship upgrades can't account to any event unlocking if you can go through with no upgrades.


Edit: Yes if you go through the relay straight away it is one of the colonists that dies. Someone actually does state this. Most people believe the one in the pod is Lilith (the one Ash/Kaiden is speaking to in the horizon cut-scene)

She is Lilith. If you turn on subtitles you'll know it's her.

Don't you have time to do ONE mission after the crew gets taken before you start losing crewmembers to the Collectors? If you're able to do one mission between the IFF mission and the shuttle trip, then you could do both Legion and Tali's loyalty missions and then head immediately through the Omega 4 relay before any crewmembers got melted.

After you get the IFF, I believe you have time to do one or two missions before EDI says it's ready for shakedown. As soon as the crew is taken though, doing one mission will mean at least half of them will die.

Well I loaded right before waking up Legion after IFF mission. This time I DID NOT talk to him when Kelly tells you about his loyalty mission request. I ran around doing all kinds of planet scan missions, tali's loyalty mission, ran around checking that I bought all the armor and weapon upgrades and couldn't get the cut-scene to start.
After talking to legion about loyalty crap, did his mission, then next time I touched the galaxy map the cut-scene started.

Basically, don't talk to legion after he wants to talk to you and you should be ok.

Here's the quick and dirty, ready?



All loyalty missions must be done, but you know there are conflicts in between four of your squadmates; Legion/Tali, Miranda,/Jack. It's a lot easier if you import a para/ren Shep because you're already awarded extra points for either para/ren.



All loyalty missions must be complete. However, make sure however, that you save up your para/ren points up as much as possible before completing any of the groups listed above. For example, if you do Jack's loyalty mission in the middle, make sure to save Miri's for the end, same with Tali and Legion. You want to make sure you have enough to settle their fueds. Once this is complete all of your squadmates will be loyal.



IFF: Here's the deal with the IFF. Make sure you choose the option to talk to Legion prior to embarking on the mission with your entire crew while the IFF is being installed. Once you finish Legions loyalty mission you can then make your way to the galaxy map in which you will be prompted to play as joker while the collectors board your vessel and abduct your crew.



If you do all of this you should be able to save your entire crew and team during the suicide mission on any difficulty.

how can you get Legion's loyalty mission before you get the IFF? Legion is on the reaper where you find the IFF. One leads to the other.

I think he means before the IFF was installed, and if you've completed everyone elses loyalty missions it will postpone the crew abduction if you pick up his loyalty mission right away.

If you've recruited all the squad and have done all the loyalty missions before heading to the IFF, odds are you'll only have time to do one mission before EDI says the IFF is almost ready.

Recently, I did a playthrough where I got Legion as soon as possible, having done none of the loyalty missions and still needing to recruit Tali. In this case, I did quite a few missions before EDI said the IFF was almost ready. I had also hadn't talked to Legion about his loyalty mission because I was intent on not doing any of them for this particular playthrough.

So what triggers the crew kidnapping is either based on the number of missions you've done or possibly what level your character is.
