Alright, so I've noticed that my allies seem to rock when they have the M-29 sniper, as opposed to the others. I decided to make a little test of that theory with my boys Zaeed and Garrus, and here's what I found:

M-29 Sniper with Allies (aka insanity easy mode)

More M-29 Sniper With Allies (They do the work)

As you can see from the second half, they are doing the same amount of damage as a Shepard who has a sniper rifle equiped. I mean, its awesome that your allies can be this good, but according to the Gamefaqs gun stat post, these guns should not be functioning at 100% but at 50-55% power. I'm going to post this around and maybe I can get a response.

What do you think? Intentional or not? Is this perhaps a reward for those of us who paid a little more money? Or is this a DLC programming oversight?

I agree with you, actually. In watching your video, I can see why you'd think that was broken - especially considering that your allies don't run out of ammo like you did at the end there. Vicious.

Not necessesarily a bug actually... some consider the collectors rifle a bit overpowered.

And remember its a DLC item, Bioware is known for slightly overpowered DLC items, thats part of the enticement to get the preorders...

Why go through all the trouble to get the collectors edition or the preorder if your items is normal or underpowered? Besides looks?

And not a lot have that particular item **cry** I ordered the collectors from amazon and a normal from Gamestop to get my DLC's... I was not going to pay another 50 bucks for a downloaded game just for a sniper rifle....

Plus the rifle is probably overpowered specifically to entice people to purchase said downloaded game. Since the game cost as much as gong to the store without the added perks of having a game box, instructors manual, hard copy, etc.

It IS a bud if it's true . Need to test it myself, but squad members are supposed to suck when firing weapon and from the look of it a squadie firing the incisor sniper rifle deal more damage than shepard would.

A single burst should do around 160 damage, much less than the 260 from a mantis, so it's not even supposed to be that strong when the player use it.

Eh, the squaddies are great with snipers anyway. I can't comment on the M-29 though because I didn't get the Collectors' edition.

Shenanigans.

I'm going to do another test with this rifle at lvl 30 on the collector base, see if that is easy mode too.

Yeah on allies this gun is probably a bit OP

It's balanced for the player because you run out of ammo so fast, but your squad doesn't have that problem.

This is why I wish Garrus could use the Widow. Their aiming skills are impeccible. I remember wondering how Miranda manages such perfect aim with her SMG given the recoil, and Garrus with the Collector Assault Rifle and a few AR mods? Tears through defenses like butter.

Thats pretty intense. Unfortunately, I dont have that item :-( . This brings up a question I have had though. Do allies do more damage with sniper rifles or assault rifles? Logic tells me that they would do more damage with sniper rifles. Sniper Rifles are balanced for Shepard only because ammo is so limited, but allies have unlimited ammo, so they can just go off with the snipers. That would indicate to me that snipers are best for allies. However, I assume allies also do not get headshots which hurts the sniper rifle comparatively. So does anyone have any insight into whether allies do more damage with snipers or assault rifles in general?

i think allies do get head shots, and that thats why allies are so powerful with snipers, because they always hit em smack in the face. legion with the widow is funny, ruins harbinger, absolutely ruins the sucker.

Actually, I've found that the uncanny accuracy and unlimited ammo count the squaddies possess let them do things you just can't with weapons.

- Sniper rifles, especially Legion's Widow, are insane in their hands.
- The Claymore for Grunt is stupidly good, even at ranges which would make my vanguard completely ineffectual.
- The SMG seems to out-perform assault rifles (I swear Samara kills faster with an SMG in her hands) at times. Do squaddies actually get recoil?
- The hand cannon is deadly. My sub-par gun fighters like Jack, Tali and even wussy Jacob suddenly start taking down things faster than I can target. It seems heavy pistols are even more effective than shotguns (claymore aside) for dealing with husks!

BTW, note the fire rate comparison between the two. Its like my allies ROF with the Incisor is amped up to the same speed as the vindicator.

I'll probably swap Zaeed for Thane when I get him, but so far... recruiting Jack and Horizon... was fairly easy. I died only once on each mission. My fault on the Jack mission, heavy Drone rape on Horizon.

I wish the 360 users had access to the Incisor. While most of the pre-order items are comparable to what everyone can access, I'd still spend a few cents to unlock the few extra weapons I can't get since I pre-ordered the CE from my own workplace and not Gamestop.

To the person asking how to get the M-29 Incisor.. You have to have the Digital Edition for PC which I think comes through Steam?

360 users do have access to it. If they also purchase the Digital Deluxe Editiion. I got mine through steam and activated the incisor, it shows up on my 360 copy too.

Yeah, I noticed this when I took Garrus and Thane with me. The combination of snipers is killer. I did have them equipped with the Viper though. I don't have the M-29.

been using garrus and zaeed with the incisor on my infiltrator insanity playthrough and while they are alive they shred through everything they took down habringer in the time it took me to take down 2 drones

if i could just figure out how to keep them alive it would be easythey just don't seem to understand when i put them at a wall it means go into cover and when you are injured to wait and regenerate not stand and get shot...

but still it's made my playthrough go quicker

Allies understanding when to be in cover and when to sit and just duck is a little sketchy at times when you only manual control. I find it especially frustrating when an ally will refuse to go past a certain invisible point unless your shepard has already crossed that point. Horizon seems full of those kinds of situations.
