Chris Priestley's Fill in the blanks instructions:

If you don’t find a similar problem already reported, consider starting a new thread. Note that most of this information can be obtained by using the game’s Configuration Utility which is available by pressing the [Configure] button from the game’s launcher:

1.      Which Game Are You Playing

  a.      Since this forum is for both ME1 (PC) and ME2 (PC) it’s important to identify which product is experiencing the problem.

  b.     Media: physical disk or digital download (and which vendor)

  c.      Configuration Utility | Game Tab

    * Version Information: MassEffect2.EXE

2.      System Details

  a.      Configuration Utility | Summary Tab

    * Processor / Clock Speed / RAM

    * Display Adapter / VRAM / Driver Version (just saying "latest drivers" doesn't help)

    * Sound Adapter / Driver Version

  b.     Configuration Utility | Platform Tab

    * Operating System (& service pack if applicable)

    * Direct X Version

3.      Problem Details

  a.      When it comes to problem details, think about the five basic questions: Who? What? When? Where?  Why? Okay, so “Who?” doesn’t really apply here, but the others do.

  b.     What? What is the nature problem that you’re seeing?

  c.      When? When does the problem occur? Every time you engage in a particular action or only
after so many hours of play?

  d.     Where? Where does the problem occur? Is the problem localized to a particular planet or does
it occur everywhere?

  e.     Why? As much as possible, can you isolate the problem to a specific set of steps?

If you follow these guidelines, and provide the requested information when posting, it will increase the likelihood that someone will be able to help you diagnose the problem and find a solution.

Please report issues, after checking these steps, in new threads.

You would have read that, if you hadn't skipped the stickies.

I have no idea how to fix the black eyes but maybe you should check social.bioware.com/forum/1/topic/106/index/797393/2#1211010 for your black armor-shadow problem. Not sure if it's what you're looking for though ;(

You've taken the time to read all of the threads?  Or just this one without any answer?  There were 14 total, eight of which were here in the ME-2 tech questions forum.  Was every single one the same?

Edited later:  I've had time to look into all of them.  The answer was already there in six of the eight, whether I'd had to put it there myself or not (some months ago, I got tired of too many people with low end hardware complaining about "black:" eyes in Dragon Age, but in that case is was dark brown, not empty eye sockets.  I found about twenty threads and initially ignored the fact that several were Mass Effect message threads.  )

(I'd added a wrong reply to several of the Mass Effect threads, and had to return later and edit out what I wrote, but whether the correct answer was there before my mistake or not, it was certainly there after I edited them. )

I have a GTX470SLI and with the 256-series drivers (both beta 257.15 and WHQL 257.21) all armors and figures and in most of the environments are just too dark (also in squad display). With 197-series drivers I did not have this problem (and not with 8800 series GPU). And in large open areas with SLI On heavy flickering can be seen. Sometimes I can see heavy pixellation of the main character. Single GPU, no flickering but pixellation yes.

This problem might be with drivers or with the 400-series GPU.

My system specs otherwise: Win 7 pro x64, i7-860 CPU, Asus P7P55D Evo MB, 8GB RAM, Intel 160GB X25-M SSD as system disk, X-FI Platinum PCI card for audio.

Patch 1.02 applied through Steam.

I'm not at all sure I can understand why you wrote the comment.  Aren't the older drivers that still will work properly sitting right there in the nVIDIA archives?
