Right, but Ashira said that Samara doesn't have any dialog on Horizon and Mordan just talks to himself. Her not having dialog on Horizon makes me think that she wouldn't have dialog on any of the recruitment missions prior to Horizon, but that isn't the case though.yorkj86 wrote...
No characters other than Jacob and Miranda have dialogue for Freedom's Progress and all missions before that. Besides, having any other characters besides Jacob and Miranda before Freedom's Progress causes the game to crash.

In the early stages, everyone was recruitable from the start, and so Legion/Thane/Samara/Tali all have dialogue for the starting recruitment missions after Freedom's Progress. But I'm guessing by the time they got to doing Horizon, they changed their ideas and just left the hidden dialogue in there when they moved the aforementioned characters to being available AFTER Horizon.

I thought about this as well, and came to a conclusion.

That makes the most sense, if their first plan was to have them all avaliable from the start that would explain why the "hidden" dialogue was there. I wonder why they changed their plan.

I read somewhere that the game was going to start off on the planet where Shepard's body was recovered. The player was going to start off as playing Legion with Liara also on the planet. That would have been real neat to me, but Bioware decided that it would be too confusing to new players of ME. I'll have to try and find where I read that.

They likely made certain characters available later due to having to split the game up into two discs for the 360.
I don't even get why they needed two discs for the 360 version.

There are a lot of theories as to why the game is structured like it is. Some of them involve the original, unused beginning to ME2. Most likely, it was just the hardware limitations of the 360, but I'd like to know if the rumor of the original Liara & Legion beginning to ME2 is actually true.
I personally would have enjoyed this as the beginning. Would have given Liara and Legion better roles in the story as well, they got trash roles in ME 2.

I understand why they did this though. If you think about it, it makes the game a lot easier to develop. If you made different decisions in your import to ME2, they really only slightly affect the storyline and you get a cameo so to speak from Wrex, Council, Conrad, etc...
@york
I guess only the devs could confim that. I'll see if I can find the info on it.

Tali and Legion dialog on Archangel mission
I just skimmed through part of the threads and did not see any confirmation of this.

Hmmm, I'm curious. Let's just
hypothesize for a minute... and let's say you were to create a
Samara-centric mission. A secondary loyalty mission, if you will, could
be for ME2 or in post-ME2/ME3 type territory - up to you!
But
What kind of story would you create and/or like to see that could open
up a chance for Shepard to learn more about Samara or about Justicars.
Any ideas? Thoughts?
Seek & Destroy mission with Samara:
Shep receives a message from Liara to come to Illium and asks Shep to bring Samara along.
The Normandy docks on Illium
Shep, Samara, and Garrus form the away team.
Liara tells the squad that she intercepted several communications that indicate an Asari Justicar may be working for the Shadow Broker. Liara informs them that this Justicar has used her clout to play galactic politicians against each other in order to obtain highly classified information. Samara has known the Justicar for 300yrs and can't hardly believe it. Liara seems convinced that this Justicar has become indoctrinated and that she has been able to obtain information about Cerberus, Capt. Anderson, Udina, Shepard, among others, and the possibility that another Reaper or similar entity exists in the Milky Way.
Liara notifies the team that taking the Normandy to pursue the Justicar is too risky because part of this information that the Justicar has received is the ability to track and locate the Normandy when the steath systems are engaged. Garrus uses his contacts to book passage aboard a Turian freighter and the teams goes undercover.
What do you think?

There isn't any "canon", Ashira. It's just a default setting.
I know that, but the "default" setting if you want to make a new Shepard without playing through ME1 again for 50 hours; still sucks.
Uploading some fresh screens to photobucket; will post soon.
Captured a few interesting shots.

I enjoy this image more than I probably should...

Thought she looked pretty cool here.

Final screen, and I don't know why this capture intrigues me so...

Which brings me to a general wondering, if you have Morinth with you, and she dies in the suicide mission - does she still, even at death, act like Samara? If she does, that would've been a missed chance for BW o_o I like little moments of "OOC" deathbed thoughts. For some reason the thought that she may actually say something with regret or even just whispering "Mother..."
*shrug* I think too much on these things.
