It isn't taken far enough IMO to be a romance. I am not talking about engaging in sex either. They do form a bond, but Samara rejects Sheps advances and has the discipline and the strength to not let herself get to the point where she is emotionally attatched to Shep. She has chosen her way of life and although she was very tempted, she didn't give in to it. They do seem to share a bond and mutual respect for another.volly0071 wrote...
My stance has always been that you do have a romance with Samara. It just doesn't culminate in a cheap hormone driven encounter at the end. Love doesn't have to end up in bed to be shared.
This is a special type or romance one I think B/A actually did very well. If she is in the next installment of the story I don't see where B/A has to change anything with the char to allow for a furthering of your relationship with her.(not that I want that) My only request is that they make anyone who pushed it with her pay. Meaning you shouldn't get more than friendship out of her if you weren't mature enough(too horny) to let it go in the first place.
I support the idea of her as a LI, but only if the char stays true to itself. No pandering to the relationaly challanged.![]()
@ who ever: posted the screens, cool

Probably wrong of me to feel mildly offended by this, maybe because whenever I'm writing or playing, my Shepard isn't driven by lust. Having developed her more as a character by now; very difficult for her to show emotion and feel love for another. But she fell for Samara, and fell hard.
Maybe it's a personal fault for being young :<

Consider the reason she did become a Justicar is because her family was torn apart rather tragically. She felt is was necessary to atone for the monster she created, and felt it was her own fault. Now that she has closure for the first time she understandably needs time to put it all in perspective. That is the main reason I think she denied Shep, not because she has lost interest in love, after all she still loved Morinth deep inside. Had we been able to romance her it would have substantially hindered her portrayal in this game. But the thing is it seems they only planted a seed for a romance and left it at that. With Tali/Garrus you could tell they were young ambitious people that had so much more fleshing out to do. Which made it appropriate for them to come back as romance options. At this point I don't know where Samara's character development can go. She's truly at peace.

Like volly0071, I see Shepard's relationship with Samara as a romance, even if both decided to treat it as a friendship. Samara's duality (duty versus emotions) lends itself very easily to a complex relationship. I always smile as I picture Shepard toeing the line between friendship and romance; friendliness with flirtiness... as a secretely amused (and flattered) Samara politely acknowleges Shepard's affection without ever giving in (but allowing herself to biotically "blush" when Shepard touches her heart).
We have a human conception of intimacy, which differs from the asari notion. Human couples share intimacy through touch, undressing to make love, etc... Asari become intimate by touching eachothers minds, which really doesn't require undressing eachother. Perhaps Samara draws strength from the affection she can feel emanating/radiating from Shepard. She is content to bask in this affection, which probably feel as intimate to her as a lingering caress.
