Who knows? One thing is for sure regarding ME3. They don't have to be near as strict with following continuity, and they have a lot more flexability than the previous two.
What makes you think that? I'd think that Bioware would have a lot of variables to consider for transfer from decisions made in ME1 and ME2. Even with Samara alone there is a lot of outcomes that will need to be considered.

I watched one of the devs saying it on an interview. I agree that they do have some variables to consider. I'll see if I can dig up the video.DirtyVagrant wrote...

Haven't found the video yet, but the best I can remember is that the dev said something to the effect that they had to really pay attention to the continuity with ME2 because they still had to plan the game and bridge it between ME1 and ME3. Whereas ME3 is the end of the trilogy and they don't have to plan ahead of it.

Hmmm, interesting, it makes me wonder whether or not if certain decisions won't have as big an impact as we think it might and whether certain characters already have their path already plotted out for them as well as the extent of their involvement in the next game.

Well personally I never had much hope for the "Big Decisions" and the ramifications of them. If they pull it off, then that would be great, but it's been linear so far if you think about it. Not saying it will not happen though, and I like the game just fine too. Who knows?DirtyVagrant wrote...

WoW stands for World of Warcraft. It's a major fantasy MMORPG with a huge river of lore and 11 million players, at least if their adverts are anything to go by. I wouldn't doubt it; the game is frighteningly addictive.

If you were a renegade, surely they would have to keep Samara to her word that if they crossed paths again she would kill you?

I hope this is true, i doubt Samara would say something such as that and not keep her word.

*mental image* *snerk!* *tries to keep a straight face*
Sure she would...
Btw, that movie is awesome.
On note of Samara fighting/killing a renegade Shepard; unless Shep was a biotic as well (even then that's a freakin' stretch) wouldn't she just completely own the commander?

At least put up a fight as good as Benezia or better. In the ME universe one would think so, but you know how Shep is the galaxy hero. Her character in the ME story is indeed powerful though.
Unfortunatley if renegade Shepared fought Samara in ME 3, Shepard would be the one walking away from the fight.

lol ok maybe not, but I hope that if she does come to Shep in ME3 that she doesn't have to swear some oath that handcuffs her to Shepards wrist....she comes from her free will

It would be kinda neat to have Samara in your squad for at least a mission or two in ME3 wouldn't it? Take Samara with you to go take down a rouge Justicar. I keep thinking in the back of my head that perhaps Seryna will be recruitable or play some larger role in ME3.7Makaveli wrote...

It will be interesting to see if there is any DLC coming down the pike that will further enhance the ME2 story. I have heard a lot of people say that they do not want this because it could detract from the ME3 story. We don't know yet what ME3 entails yet though. Shep will defeat the Reapers somehow of course, but that is about all we know. It is possible that Bioware could have a ton of content right now for ME3 and are able to shave some of it off so to speak and insert it into ME2. All just speculation of course.
I am very curious as to how Bioware is going to handle the squadmates in ME3. Let me assume for the moment that Samara will indeed have a substantial role in the next installment. We don't have any indication right now what that role could be. She fulfilled her oath to Shepard in the ME2 mission. I assume that she will continue her role as a Justicar seeking injustice where she can find it , and punishing the criminals while protecting the innocent. To assume that she will have any other type of role other than that of a Justicar or somehow helping Shepard at his/her request seems to be a little out of her character as we know her now. There just isn't enough information available to us IMO.
Whatever happens, I hope it does not detract from her deep character in any way. I would just assume have her as a squadmate all over again with a new recruitment mission and perhaps another side mission that involves her, but also revolves around the plot somehow. That is just wishfull thinking I suppose. We might be able to finish off her character with two missions devoted to her and exhausting all availabe dialog with her throughout the game. Like I said before though, it's all speculation.
