*wanders back into the thread after a hiatus*

<3 Samara. The more times I play ME2 the more I like her.

Wanted to ask a question and bring up a topic that may have been touched upon but I want some other Samara fan opinions on my suggestion.

First the question: Anyone know where I can find some good Samara fan fiction? There isn't a lot on fanfiction.net.

Secondly, in the Samara group I joined today there was a topic regarding Samara as a love interest in ME3. I'm sure this has come up but I just wanted to get some opinions of my take on it.

"I think it has something to do with her past. I've wondered about the age difference between her daughters. Did she have them so close together that by the time the first was diagnosed the other two had been born or did she give birth to her second or third daughter with the knowledge that they could be Ardat-Yakshi? I think the latter would better explain why she not only became a justicar but as to why she denies herself romance completely. This is just speculation of coarse but it's fun to muse over.

No matter what the circumstances were, if love had clouded her judgment in the past then it's safe to assume she doesn't want to risk it interfering with her interpretation of the code.

I would like to see her as a romance option in ME 3 however I think it shouldn't consummate like the other romances (despite how much I'd like to see it). Samara is too wonderfully complicated to just find some loophole in her reasoning to use as an excuse to be with Shepard. I would like to see scenes as complex as the justicar wherein the romance isn't blatant but subtle with neither of them ever fully acknowledging it out of fear of scaring the other off. In stead of obvious one liners the love would be read between the lines. In stead of cut scenes that included kissing/sex there would be cut scenes of 'almosts' or the slightest of touches. The greatest expression of Shepards love for Samara would be his/her respect for Samaras self control and in doing so maybe wins him/her one firm affirmation of their love for each other but not at the price of sacrificing who they are as people.

To much to ask for in a mere video game? Probably, but it would be nice to see something different. I actually liked the fact she shot Shepard down in ME2 and would be displeased to see a complete 180 in ME3."

Man how I was hoping for her to be a LI when she was announced as a squad mate. Sucks that she wasn't but I still thoroughly enjoyed her as a character nonetheless. She provided a nice insight to an aspect of asari culture.

Plus I love watching her as the biotic specialist in the suicide mission blasting those Collectors away at the end.

juxtaposed joker, I like your thoughts on the possible romance in ME3.

This was a response from one of the devs in another thread to answer one of your questions.

"The true illness is in Samara. She can only have Ardat-Yakshi children, and she did not find this out until her oldest child came to reproductive age. By that time she had already had her other two children. This is why she became a Justicar. She'll tell you all this in her dialogs on the Normandy."

If there is a "romance" in ME3, I agree the progression would need to be subtle and sincere. I think that if written well in ME3 this relationship with Samara could be one of the most emotionally engaging and satisfying LI subplots in the series. It just has the great potential there right now.

Also somebody during the game states something like whoever she was before she became a Justicar is long gone now. I believe in ME3 its possible Shepard could awaken some of this person too. I think its possible that she still could develop and progress as well. Plus theres so much more that we could learn about her. Out of all the characters in the squad in ME2 I want to talk to Samara first in ME3 not just because of what happened when Shepard last spoke to her but there's so much more I want to know and learn about her.

I can see her deciding to stay after what they saw on the Collector base and the information about the Reapers they obtained.

Not much Code to uphold if the asari and everyone else gets wiped out now is there? She's a protector and defender foremost, I can easily see her deciding to stay on for the fight against the Reapers.

Gamewise I'd love to see her again in ME3, either as a friend or a LI. She's just great all the way around.

Someone linked this in a different thread, thought I would post it here -

The model for Samara's face - www.modelmayhem.com/1049977

Beautiful model, they really look alike - even her eyes are the same. :)

Anyway, I think Bioware did a great job with Samara's character. She is definitley one of the most facinating in the Mass Effect series so far.

Man, Samara is my second favorite character in this game. I didn't think I was even going to like her from the trailer I first saw, but wow, she is just plain awesome....Really wish I could have romanced her....The only other character I wanted to really romance besides Tali. :-(

She's my favorite new character. She's a beautiful character, not in the physical sense, but more in what she represents and how she lives. I've always fancied self-sacrificing for noble ideals, and she is the embodiment of that archetype. And her VA is flawless on the delivery of what I would expect. As someone said before me, "regal."

I want more from her, but perhaps not a romance. She obviously see's Shepard being very unique - even like her. I wish she was given more dialogue to flesh out her own background and go back and forth with Shepard, which would've been more awesome considering it would've tied into our choices for Shep.

Well said - That's definitley what makes the character interesting.

And yeah, the VA did an amazing job!

She has GREAT BIG LOVELY... eyes. No, seriously, it's something she shares with the model she is based on. They're wonderful.

It's like she is, I guess, a Paragon "romance" where as Morinth is a Renegade "romance", neither which end the way you would like. I highly doubt I'd ever choose Morinth over Samara, it's nice to see her warm up to Shep after years of working on her own.

I wanted to throw my support in for Samara. As someone who was more or less disenchanted with the asari, I was surprised to find how much I liked Samara as a character. She was regal & fascinating, and I hope they find a place for her on Shep's squad in ME3. Liara can stay on Illium for all I care.

Also, as a female player who only plays as FemShep's and who only has eyes for Garrus (and sometimes Thane & Kaidan!), if Samara had been a LI option I would have promptly created a MaleShep for the sole purpose of romancing her. She's that awesome.

How do you get the cut scene with Samara saying she doesn't want to be involved with Shepard?

I liked Samara from the first time she entered the screen. I do think she would be a bad LI though. The reason is because she just does not seem like someone that would make any sense to have a love affair after a few conversations. She is a strong and self assured woman. She always has just a aura of strength about her. Well that and that all her children are all ardat yakshi.

One of the last (or the last) conversations you have with her, she says Shepard has been a great friend and there is an option for "I'd like to be more" (or something to that effect).

I really enjoyed Samara's character. I loved the fact that she saw you as a friend instead of a lover; something she has never really had due to her life as a Justicar. I appreciated talking to a character that I knew wasn't going to get hurt if I didn't chose them as a LI. Plus her eyes are truly paralyzing...just something about them that no form of beauty can define

I think my favorite "Scene" with her is the failed romance thread where she walks out of the room into the crew quarters and can't talk to you.
