I have this grand vision of a Bioware writer putting on their Thinking Cap and brainstorming an unspoken romance for Samara & Shepard in ME wherein there are no lines that directly address it, only subtle things, like facial expressions, camera-work, and seemingly-innocuous physical contact.
I don't invision it right now, but I have not really thought about it much. I can see your point though. Could you do it? If so, you probably can't describe what needs to be done just by typing it out in a post I suppose?
I can't describe it entirely, and I have no experience with formatting narratives in to script-form. I just have vague ideas.
We know that Bioware's programmers are familiar with camera-work trying to convey to the player an emotion or sentiment a character is feeling. The Jackolytes claim that when Jack is talking to Shepard about Murtock, the camera focuses on her and circles her. Shepard is pushing, and Jack feels trapped, but she doesn't push back, which is something remarkable, knowing Jack.
What I'm talking about is something like their personalities, not their characters, interacting with one another. Samara expects people to move out of the way when she walks past and typically, they do. But what if Shepard doesn't move? I think of Samara's response as being her putting a hand on Shepard's arm and looking in to his eyes, and then stepping around him, or Shepard meeting her gaze, and then stepping to the side.
All of this assumes that Shepard did express his feelings for her in ME2.
