Sounds like the writers just applied variances of various Earth religions to ME aliens. I doubt the aliens would regard the human religions as extreme or very strange.Pacifien wrote...
The Asari seem to have two dominant
religions: the pantheistic siari and the monotheistic Goddess. I get the
feeling that most references to the Goddess are more a figure of
speech, though.
The Turians have something like a spirit worship.
Each entity in whatever form has a particular spirit or aura to it.
Mordin
mentions Salarians have a belief similar to the Hindu belief of cycle
of life.
Then there's the Drell polytheistic beliefs, though
Thane implies that its a dying religion among his people.
Obviously,
the Hanar think the Protheans are where it's at.
I can see why
siari seems to be a dominant religion across all Citadel species. Most
religions confine themselves the the making of a single world. Siari
encompasses the entire universe.
I get the feeling from the various non-human religions in the ME universe that they are not as anthropocentric as human religions can/tend to be. By that I mean, their religious perspective tends to not focus on themselves. They don't deify themselves, or aspects of themselves. Most of the non-human religions that were about the deification of a species are on the way out, as with Athame-worship and the Asari.
