I quite like Samara, so I bring three gifts, gifts of content.
First, apparently Samara was modelled off of this women. The eyes certainly seem like proof enough.

Second, concept art! I don't know if it's been posted in this thread already, haven't gone through the whole thing yet.

I would really like that other design if not for the hip cutouts. That's just bizarre.

Third, a theory. I was thinking the other day that Samara seems to be a superhero deconstruction. Red, blue, and yellow design, triangle shape on her chest, she can fly, has a strict moral code, children want to grow up to be like her...sounds kind of familiar...

Very interesting stuff, good find! She does indeed have the qualities of a traditional superhero. I didn't really think about her armor being superhero like until you mentioned.

I'm sorry, but I have to snicker at her making a point of saying, "it's based on my face only."  Like, yeah, I think we could have guessed that pretty easily. :)

Samara is great, man! I don't know why I didn't like her at first, but now on my second playthrough I'm really starting to appreciate her. She's composed and in control at all times, not to mention she kicks butt. Plus, she's dedicated her life to a worthy cause, and she has the discipline to really honor that dedication. She's just so... together, in a way that not too many people in your crew are.

I like Samara, but like Dishwasher64 i noticed her in second playthrough . And im disappointed that there is no romance option. BTW: I know a girl, that has exactly same facial bones and eyes. And she is not that model.

Heh, I guess superhero does fit, but she always seemed just to the left of being called a "space paladin" to me. Maybe just me though.

Nice find :)

Thats probably because she seems so cold about it. Perhaps the difference is some thing like this: what normally comes to mind when i hear the term 'space paladin' is someone motivated sympathy and outrage at injustice. Samara on the other hand seems motivated by devotion to the code, thus she is 'cooly' deals with wrong doers. She punishes wicked because she is following the code exactly, not becuase she is outraged or feels sympathy for the victem. I'm not saying she's incapable of it, It just doesn't seem to be her motivation.
Well, atleast thats what I have gotten out of it.

Wow, after coming to this realization, now i feel extra bad about trying to make her disregard her own self-discipline, because I see how its that much more important to her.

Best looking character in ME2 by far in my books,I also though her almost romance was better than the other real ones.

I do love that moment, seriously who the hell would've answered "Foe" after watching her fling those mercs around?

Kelmar, maybe its better to stop thinking things through at a certain point. But now I get what you're saying as well, damnit o_O'' See this is why if Bioware does make her an LI in ME3, they better make damn sure it's not as relatively easy or simple as other LIs - hello, challenging romances 101?

It was not challenging to get nearly a kiss from her.She seems to love shepardt, but didnt think that it would be right to start a relationship with him/her:

Note that it was an "almost" - any other character probably would've just gone through with it. I'm just thinking that if it did happen in ME3 that the BW dudes handle it properly. How? No idea, she's not my creation.

I think Samara chose the path of the Justicar not only to hunt Morinth down but also because following a Code allowed her to insulate herself from the emotional pain associated with the necessity of the hunt.

She obviously feels great sadness for having killed her favorite child. I do not think she could have found the resolve to do it if she hadn't had the Code to act as her moral compass. A Code of 5000 rules may seem complex to us, but to Samara it "simplifies" things... otherwise she'd likely go mad with grief.

I was touched by her admission of potential romantic interest "...your curiosity is most welcome..." and even more by her final scene where she almost gives in to her feelings before turning Shepard down. Letting down her Justicar reserve to allow herself love would have also released the flood of sadness and grief over the unfairness of her daughters fate. In the end, she denies Shepard in spite of her feelings. Nicely done!

Should she return in ME3 and be romanceable, I hope they'll pace it right... I don't see her "giving in" to Shepard's advances without a lot more bonding. She'll need time to mourn Morinth and make peace with herself before she allows herself to love again.

You found words for what i tried to say earlier.

As for Making peace, If she does that in between ME2 and 3 then maybe she won't be a justicar when we see her next. After all, hunting down morinth was originally why she became one. With the code out of the way and herself at peace with her daughter's fate, then that might even open a door for Renegade sheps.

Actually, I'm kinda hoping Liara's mysterious "father" will turn out to be Matriarch Aethyta... it just makes so much sense really: she's as foul-mouthed as her krogan father, she's looked down upon by the other "wiser" asari Matriarchs... No wonder Benezia wanted to keep Liara ignorant of her lineage...

And having latent Krogan personality traits might explain Liara's newfound ruthlessness. People keep mentioning similarities between Benezia and Liara in ME2... what if this "renegade" Liara was just letting her grand-father's heritage loose? And Aethyta DID have a pureblood daughter as one point...

Actually, she explicitely states that the Code allows romantic involvement, presumably as long as it doesn't interfere with the Justicar's duty. Justicars only forswear family (children) and earthly possessions (required to raise children). To which, in Samara's case, you can add the fear of giving birth to another Ardat-Yakshi.

Asari essentially do not require birth control in the conventional sense. No DNA is exchanged, only mental imprints of both parents that may influence the child's personality in later life, or not (see Aethyta). So Samara could develop a life-long romantic bond with a compatible (paragon) Shepard, she just cannot have a family.

So there's hope yet for both Shepard and Samara... That observation deck may yet see sweet lovin' under the stars! Posted Image

Wow, I'll say. Nice find! Ever since I first saw her I thought Samara was absolutely stunning, her eyes are so exotic and catlike... really beautiful and somehow they seem to fit her as a justicar very well, like they can see into your true motives.

I'm a total fangirl for Samara no doubt, she's my favorite female crewmate. I've always had a thing for "crusading" type characters, and Samara fits that to a T. She's strong, loyal, always composed... and that just makes you want to get to know her more. In my opinion she's one of the few people Shep can really admire because of all those things, plus she's completely dedicated to her code just as Shepherd is to the mission - I'm sure they can relate on that aspect. I really want more of her in ME3!
