seeing as how Liara and Ashley/Kaidan were virtually unchanged in appearance from ME1 to ME2 (this is 2 years we're talking about, and the same bloody outfit?) I don't foresee any kind of significant change with Samara. If there is any kind of change, I hope nothing changes form the neck up, because it is aesthetically flawless (so is the rest of her though :D). Sure, anything below that can be altered depending on whether they want to go for realism. But truthfully, I really don't have any problem with her appearance as is.

Thats a good point. I also hope they don't change the neck and.... well face ornaments=]

I could use it before diving into a juicy steak....

Or before I say good night to somebody. Might be a bit fatalistic though.

Besides which, when you're as hot as she is at 700 years old, do you think she really needs some catchy line?

Not everyone does. I don't object to her appearance. Boobs are boobs. Maybe it's a woman thing. When you have your own boobs, you really don't care about other people's all that much.

I care because I think it detracts from the character. Easier to some here up as just a big boobed paladin. But then again maybe thats the wrong philosophy...:?

The better question is, how do big boobs distract from someone's character? :D

detracts was the wrong word. distracts is what i meant. but as i stated perhaps its the wrong philosophy to pin importance on the opinions of those who would disregard her character because of 'big boob paladin'...

You can look at it this way and compare her to Thane. Both these characters are identified to be more appealing to mature gamers. Now whether that was the purpose I don't know, but I do know that Thane was supposed to be the guy all female gamers would want to romance atleast once. They hammered out a pretty intriguing character there who has a memorable look, and an engaging story, so I'd say that was a success. Nevermind that he was completely useless on the suicide mission but thats another point. But Samara as his "mature gamer" counterpart, is the cerebral warrior-monk character, who's appearance is unavoidably notable, maybe to make her more striking and appealing, but not for the reasons most people would think. While she is "visibly accessible", she is far from lets say "personally accessible", unless you're willing to work for it. And even then she won't give you too much; thus making her more appealing.

If any of that made sense, kudos....kudos.

I think her appearance would only distract people who are disinclined to look beneath the surface to begin with. So there is a bit of a dichotomy between her appearance and her character, if anything it should make her seem more dimensional, not less. It makes you wonder why this asari would cultivate this appearance, given her personality. I think the asari in general are far less concerned about nudity and exposure than most species, since they only have the one gender. Samara probably doesn't give it a second thought. She would find humans' attitudes about cleavage mildly amusing and then dismiss the thought.

True, True, and True.

I do like that she isn't romancable in ME 2, it will weed out alot of the people who only see her boobs.Image IPB

Samara has no patience for wandering eyes. She's testing us. The second we glance down, our innards get reaved. Or in Shepard's case, she just walks out of the room.

Damn you Shepard. I told you not to stare into the blinding light that is her bosom.

One thing i do envy from other characters. Their catch phrases. ie 'kelah salai' 'the prize' 'guddamnit' 'big guddamn heroes'(
samara doesn't really use any idioms or say anything catchy.

Find peace in the embrace of the goddess? Wasn't that one?

For all we know, Samara leaving her bosom a bit exposed might have some benefit to her biotics or something. We don't know how biotics works, perhaps having a bit of skin exposed boosts her biotic corona and powers a little. Who knows? And the high heels aren't THAT high, so they don't bother me. I like her outfit. I'd wear it if I could just lose that last 5 pounds. :D

*admirative* 5 pounds? wow... you must be as stunning as my wife! Image IPB

I agree. The female outfits are obvious eye-candy but they're also part and parcel of the impression the creators wanted the players to get. Yes, they're obviously not as practical-looking as the armors of ME1. But the suits helped give a reflection of the character's inner self. Jack wears her soul on her skin, Miranda's appearance is as engineered as her genes and Samara projects the same aura of attractiveness most asari radiate. Their physique is a part of their character, working on a metagaming level. I think it was pulled off rather well.

Actually I think all discussions about appearance, behaviour and standards (morals) represent a much to human point of view. After all those ETs and their civilizations might have totally different standards - of which we unfortunately know little to nothing.
Even on Earth we got quite a few cultures who wouldn't even notice Sam's outfit (or rather lack of it) because it's meaningless to them ...

The only gameworld excuseoid I can come up with for the ridicolous Justicar comic book superhero uniform, is to intimidate foes with a: "I can take you down, even wearing this hampering gaudy **** and here - I'll leave a big giant hole in the suit, right over my heart (not that I'm familiar with Asari physiology) - take a shot, I dare you.", kind of approach. :P

Can I really be the only one who can't stand the pieces of shiny plastic Samara's got glued to her forehead, by the way? It seems every aspect of her appearence, is designed to contrast with her dignified demeanor.
