You know, if there is a way they choose to write Samara out with a cameo, I would hope it is in an empowering way such as this. She should end up in a position where she can share the powerful experiences she has had in a way to help others, and maybe that would be a way to justify her secret journey of atonement. It would be a much better and practical way to go out than say, "she is back on Thessia rooting out pockets of injustice", it doesn't provide any closure to me. She aims to remain a fighter, so it could be a role where she fights up the ranks of a corrupt government system of something of that sort. But continuing this lonely road doesn't seem like much of a character resolution to me. Am I extrapolating too much?

Thoughts? Comments? Bueller?

Would training new Justicars be a satisfying end to her career?    Or some powerful position within the Justicar Order bureaucracy?

Samara would be a demanding, tough loving teacher, that's for sure. I'm sure there is a set up for older Justicars to spend more time in developmental roles and such, they need to obviously open up more lore in this regard.

I should never have mentioned Police Academy and Samara together in one sentence. Now I'm picturing her in Mahoney's cut-off jeans and "One in the Oven" t-shirt. That last bit doesn't even make any sense, considering her character and the tragedy.

Yeah it reminds me of that blond instructor wearing that white T-shirt with big breasts and mirrored sunglasses.  I was actually going to upload a photo, but couldn't find one of her.

I don't know. I think Samara could deal quite efficiently with politicians. She would shoot them.

Let's talk about ME1, 2, and 3 for just a little while. Who is the biggest demographic? Teenage male shooter fans? Or did Bioware try to grab more teenager shooter fans with ME2.

I like ME 1 and ME 2 about the same, but i still have now idea why they stripped away so many RPG elements in ME 2.

Like i said i like both, but i don't know why they did it.

Well I assume it was to draw more shooter fans, but I don't know that.  With that said though, I like the combat better than ME1 overall.

ME2 is DX9, does anyone think that ME3 will be DX9 & 11 compatible.  There are already some games like this on the shelf.

The combat improved in ME2, but the obvious drawback was the RPG elements. That being said, I don't recall having similar missions to Samara and Thane's loyalty missions in ME1, so that is something I would like to seem more of in ME3. If they're able to put it together in the third game, then that would be enough. It's all we can ask for really.

My favorite mission is probably Okeer/Grunt Korlus. Second would probably be the Thane recruitment to me.

You know what stinks? Wrex was my favorite squadmate. He was best sidekick of the year in Xbox magazine, and he is dead in the default.

That is the main reason I worry about what will happen with the squad in the next game. They reduced him and Liara to quest givers, and the virmire survivors to a cameo, and they were core members in the first game. Now they have 12 more characters to fill a game with, its just not possible. A few fanbases will be disappointed no doubt, as you can't have everyone come back in a full fledged role. I liked what they did with Garrus, and even Tali, but they had to really force that progression and make them break out of their shells a little, so that takes a bit of writing to do. I can't expect that kind of writing to happen for even 6 more characters without it being distracting to the main storyline, so its going to be interesting.

What I'm really curious to see is if we'll start off with any squadmates other than the two standard human members. If not, then they have to write out and possibly write back in the other alien characters. And if we do start off with some of them in the squad (which prolly won't happen) then its hard to have character development, and they'll just be cardboard cutouts following Shepard around. Squad recruitment is one of the main features of the game, so I bet there is going to be more of it with new or old characters. But what plot elements could they use to have Shepard get abandoned again? They've already used..............death. So what's next? Imprisonment for treason?

It's a mistake to assume that the GoW-crowd has the patience and the attention-span for the RPG elements in ME2.

Adjusts his monocle.

Mm-yes.  Plebeians and riff-raff, the lot of them.

I wouldn't worry about Liara... but Wrex... Image IPB.  The LI's from the first game (that survived) will likely be squadmates in the second game.  Wrex on the other hand will be a hard one to pull off... but you never know with Bioware (this is the last game so they have lots of room to work).

From what I understand, ME3 picks up where ME2 leaves off.  If you think about it, they really have done a pretty darn good job considering you can import the character specifics and other decision flags.  My guess is that Liara, and Ash/Kaiden will be available as squadmates.  The only thing I have to go by is the fact that they are not dead in the default in ME2, and they were not killable in ME2.  With the exception of Shep's gender of course.  Wrex on the other, is dead in the default in ME2.  Which stinks, because I can only draw the conclusion that he would most likely be dead in the ME3 default.  Which makes me think the he will be relegated to a cameo again.

I just wonder if Bioware had any idea just how well liked and popular he would be when they decided to make him killable and thereby making him dead in the default.  Bad coincidence, or are we in for a surprise in ME3?

I played Vanguards and Adepts.  Wrex and Kaiden were a great squad.  Biotics work well with each other after all.  Also... Wrex had the best defenses in the entire game (I just wish he had lift instead of stasis).  If you gave him the Spectre shotgun he could practically snipe with it.

The justification for that is that new players to ME2 should not be given Wrex as alive, cause that is a decision that your character must strive to make in the first game, while the easy way out is to kill him and the harder way is to keep him alive. Same with the council apparently. So I guess the felt that by keeping him alive in the default would kind of degrade the folk who imported their character in ME2, because then their canonization of the external world is not really exclusive to them, only their character itself is. So in a way, the reward for saving Wrex exists moreso in the first game than in the second, which is the problem I have with it. Because by saving him you only secure a brief cameo and warm welcome from your buddy. They wanted characters to have personal struggles this game, and I guess they felt that they had to let Wrex go to deal with bigger problems, because tbh when you save him his personal struggles are pretty mich resolved, and you've earned his loyalty.

Yes he was one of my favorites for sure, and I'll look for him to have a decent sized role, but at this point I'm not counting on him being a squadmate. Who knows, maybe they will surprise us like they did with Garrus. But would they really want to write his character out and put him into imported games when they'll be getting a lot more new gamers that will not have him in their game?

You know Vanguard was one of my favorite classes in ME1.
Wrex could take a beating man.  He could dish it out too.  I never put points into his stasis.  I maxed out everything else except for shotgun and ar.  I split them in half the best I remember.  Shotguns up close, and ar's at further distance if you liked.  Bring him along on any mission, and he was suited for it.  I liked his VA and his one liners along with his dialog exchanges.

So much UNKNOWN with this.  That is similar to how I feel about the ME2 squadmates and them being killable in ME2.  If they can bring any of these squaddies that were killable in ME2 back as squaddies in ME3, then are they alive in the default?  If they are dead in the default and they can still be in your squad from a carryover save file, then I would think that Wrex could come back also as a squadmate from a save file.  Just pure damn speculation though.

Gahh! I would pull my hair out if I tried t determine every possible permutation there can be regarding squadmates. Whatever little twister they've written themselves into they've gotta find a way out that satisfies the most people. Glad its not our job ;P
