Samara is probably the closest thing we get to the "fellow Spectre". It's also nice she makes it clear that she's not available as LI, although you do get the impression that there's a bond between her and Shepard regardless.

Yes, for a paragon SPECTRE she is a kindred spirit; an equal in dedication to service. A renegade SPECTRE would probably end up having to shoot her before she killed him as the Code demands...

When you think on it, being a paragon SPECTRE is a daily struggle against temptation. A SPECTRE has few rules to bound him, beyond loyalty to the Council, he/she can perform just about any criminal act as long as it is in service to the Council. You'd expect most SPECTRES would sooner or later max out their Renegade points after a couple of years in the business...

I think Samara is fascinatedby/attracted to a paragon Shepard because he/she has no Code dictating his/her conduct yet remains a paragon in spite of being unbound by rules. A paragon Shepard displays uncommon willpower and determination, traits asari seem to admire (as Liara, Samara and Morinth all mention). Her loyalty to Shepard is a mixture of admiration, respect, a hint of sexual/romantic attraction and brother/sisterhood in arms.

A very mature character, and equally popular with both male and female players:

She was spectacular, and that black and gold outfit really was something else.

I wanted to remain true to Liara but I concede I did try it on with Samara only to receive a pleasant but final (or so it seemed to me) "no thanks"

Wow, you always seem to put words to how I feel about these characters.

You always make such well thought out posts. You (as well as others) are a bounty to this thread.:wizard:

Flamewielder deserves a cookie for the fantastic input :3

And yes...this thread needs more supporters :< Too many people distracted by romance characters - or Tali and Garrus. (no offense to any fans, I love them too =P I just like Samara more)

I don't really understand it when other's bash her and pick Morinth, one of the reasons I saw because she was a mother killing her own child. I was sitting there just thinking "And so what...? You think she enjoyed it or something?" Not sure they understand that there is no way, in any possible lifetime, that a mother would enjoy doing that. Unless one is a parent, you probably can't understand the kind of pain that inflicts on a mother. You can at least be empathetic to the fact that she suffers though :<

Most wouldn't have the strength to go through with it, and then bare the scars through what remains of their life :(

For the most part they're the people who talk about Cerberus being right too.  Then to justify picking the heartless serial killer with the career spanning four centuries, they'll try to say Samara's a hypocrite because she'll kill ruthlessly when she needs to.  Completely missing that Morinth kills because she wants to.

Hey, I liked working with Cerberus and I still found Samara to be one of my favorite characters. I could never pick her daughter, who literally tried to sex me to death moments ago, over her. I don't even understand why it's an option, seeing as you've been trying to kill her, and she would have killed you. Not even a renegade would overlook that. If anything they'd be even more pissed about it.

Yeah, I've heard the hypocrite arguement plenty of times as well; I end up rolling my eyes and making a swift exit of whatever thread its in.

Maybe the "Renegade" option could've been killing Morinth yourself? Just a thought, if they so desperately wanted to include a paragon/renegade choice there.

The only way you could justify it is if you failed a willpower check when she goes into "Embrace Eternity" mode and were hyponotized.

In a weird way, I kinda think greasing Morinth yourself would be mega-Paragon. I mean you do to spare Samara the pain of ending her daughter's life.  Don't you think?

It must be painful sure, but I get the feeling she'd be pissed if you did. I mean, she just spent centuries chasing her down, she gave her whole life to the code and devoted herself to bringing justice to 'her mistake'. Here comes some 30 year old who does it no-problem. It's hard to say, really.

Hmm, so maybe letting her do it herself is the renegade option? Damn you Bioware with your shady morality!

However she herself says "My redemption lies in killing her." So...taking away personal closure anyone?

True.  It's another one of the many things I could see doing for Paragon or Renegade reason.

I know, I mean once I realized that there was a major Paragon argument for keeping the Collector Base and major Renegade arguments for nuking it I knew Bioware could probablyt melt my brain with some of the choice coming down the pike.

If I had the option to give the base to the council, I would keep it. But as you can only keep it for Cerberus, anti-alien, ruthless, torturning, souless bastards that they are...no thanks.

I prefer being buddies with aliens...which is why I avoid the human squaddies like the plague.

I wonder what choices we'll get in ME3, probably ones with immediate effect since it's supposed to end after the third game.

All I know...more Samara please.

New to this thread, and probably an already answered question, but...

...do any of you believe Samara will receive a romance in ME3 on par with the best in the trilogy so far? and if so, how will it happen?

It wouldn't surprise me.  Frankly I'm not I understand why you can't romance the squad mate of your choice.  I'm sure someone was upset they couldn't romance Mordin or Wrex.

As for the quality of it, I think it'd be great because it be the first Shepard romance where he wasn't this dominant personality.  He'd be with someone who views him as an equal.

It really upsets me when people dismiss samara as a shallow and cold character. They miss the entire point of her personality; a mother who has had to lock away her feelings in order to kill her daughter for the good of ...alienkind....

She is such an amazing woman, one that can fend for herself rather than playing the usual damsel in distress card. Its a fresh outlook for a female character, so it is frustrating that people aren't letting go of their ideas of what women should be like in video games, i.e. dumb, blonde, big breasted, useless and helpless etc.

Ok Samara has the breasts too... but they can be reduced if need be!

Keep the support up, I want this on page 30 by the end of the week, keep it up!

Love xxx

I don't understand the demand for a breast reduction.  I don't think it takes away from the character that she has a bust.  I don't think that just dismissing sex appeal for female charecters is somehow improving things it's just saying that to be interesting you have to dismiss the sexual.

Samara is a great character, i love the fact that she is an unyielding warrior for justice but would drop someone without blinking if they were evil, this and her subtle personality make her a compelling character.

Im glad bioware made her interested in you but denied advances in this game, this makes her less shallow than other characters in the game, but i do hope in ME 3 there will be a romance option for her, not a cheesy 80's porno flick type but a very intimate and passionate one.

If you do want cheesy 80's porn, talk to Miranda.

Hell, I wouldn't mind just a friendship ending where you offer to join Samara in her travels as a Justicar after you kill off the Reapers.

To be honest I'm not really against breast or anything, but it just gives others an excuse to fit Samara into the blonde big breast bimbo category.
I'm quite happy how she is now, although I personally wouldn't mind if she had just a little less boob... maybe, but that's just my point of view and taste rather than anything else.
