During the conversation after Samara kills Morinth, Shepard can try to console her, but Samara resists his help. She's not a jerk about it, but if I remember correctly, what she says basically boils down to "I've been alive so long, Shepard, and I've endured so many hardships. I know how to cope with all of that by now. I thank you, though."

the writers really knew this character inside out, I can't point to one conversation where she seems out of character.
I also like the fact that she praises her daughter after killing, not something you can say happens when you make the "other" choice >_>

Yeah, definitely got the "I wish I didn't have to do what had to be done" vibe off samara, and it was one of the moments that doesn't bash you in the head with a huge CLUE sign either, so it was one of the better story moments in ME2 for sure.

I'm sure it was not an easy thing to do for Samara. But she ultimately did the right thing, Morinth couldn't continue doing what she was doing.
