you know whats funny when I first saw that scene and the way she says "really? you'll be with me?" I thought that was sweetly innocent and figured there was actually some depth to her character, the need to be loved or w.e And then it turns out she gets up and kills you in cold blood. They should have had some sort of small after scene where she has a look of shock on her face or something, but I guess they wanted to maintain that she is a killer till the end.

Samara better be default in ME3! Not that it matters to me anyway, but its a matter of principle dammit!

Not going to matter much in the grand scheme of things, at least for me and seemingly most of you. I saved Samara every time and I don't intend on changing that.

That's only to get rid of references that new players wouldn't understand or fully appreciate. For Samara you either save her or Morinth, so it's not the same as wrex, council, etc. I fully expect default Shepard to not be retarded - meaning he won't kill Samara.

Its a different choice with this one, you definitely make out with one or the other, so they wouldn't make a renegade choice just because. Atleast that's how it should be. The reason all the other choices are renegade is because they want you to feel the impact of your shepard canonization, which can be argued is minimal cause its mostly filled with cameo's and emails lol. I imagine ME3 to be the same :/

EDIT: I mean they want imports to feel their canonization...

It's not so much every renegade decision was picked as the default for ME2 so much as keeping as many references to decisions made in ME1 to a minimum. Having an Asari call out to you on Illium and say she has a message from your friend on Noveria might confuse someone who hadn't played ME1.

So I'd go with Samara as the default survivor, because trying to explain why you have a psychopathic Ardat-Yakshi hanging around would be more confusing than saying you have an Asari who's sworn an oath to fight your foes with you.

I don't totally buy into that.  What difference would it make to a new player if the coucil was left alive or killed?  The player doesn't know any of the squadmates either.  Tali & Garrus both returned.  Anderson and Udina are both there.  The player hugs Liara, and talks to Ash or Kaiden.

but you can't kill any of the people you mentioned, 'cept ash/kaidan in ME1. I don't follow

Two different scenarios:
Default Shepard does not save Bob = Player doesn't know
Default Shepard saved Bob = His wife goes "Thanks for saving Bob." And the player goes "huuuuuhhhh?"

Tali & Garrus both returned.  Anderson and Udina are both there.  The player hugs Liara, and talks to Ash or Kaiden.

Last I checked there was no rachni-esque choice with any of them.
