ETA: Oh yeah, and which squadmates are you bringing with you?
And I suppose I should mention my two alternate infiltrator strategies. One is to run immediately to the platform to the left of the entrance to the battlefield. Be constantly vigilant on telling your squadmates to keep their butts in cover with you. Reign fire and bullets on the scions as fast as you can.
But my preferred strategy is to tell my squadmates to go for the left platform while I run to the right where most of the husks spawn. Then its a combination of cloak and arc projector/avalanche. The scions will do their slow creep towards you. Soon as they get within pulse attack range, I cloak and then run over to the left platform. I have no idea what I like doing the start of the battle that way.

Erm... depends on your playing style. Are you a heavy power user or like to use your weapons more? How many of the classes have you played so far? And by last stage of Horizon, do you mean the whole battle sequence starting with the scions or the last stage of that battle with the praetorian? I think that battle on Horizon is a **** for any class unless you have a fine-tuned system already set.
You can avoid the scion/husk fight all together if you open the door and kill the scions from a distance (before going through the door... you can see them barely popping out of the comm tower). The husks won't spawn if you do that. As for the Praetorian... run over to the communications tower and just have the praetorian follow you around it (it only focuses on Shepard). Place your squadmates at opposite sides of the tower (out of it's AoE damage/barrier recharge) and they will destroy it for you.

I have played all of them. I never have had a complete playthough with a Vanguard though. My favorites are Engineer and Sentinal.
The whole battle sequence. In particular, the starting sequence with the scions. The husks were giving me a hard time. I had Grunt and Kasumi with me. I think the husks will sometimes spawn from anywhere. I ran up into the back of that truck to the left right past the door one time. The next thing I new, there were two husks that appeared in there with me. I am almost certain that they didn't run to me into the back of that truck from any direction. This was new character, not an import or NG+.

Really? Never heard that before. I'll have to try that. So you just got to make sure that you don't go through the door? Will the husks ever spawn?NICKjnp wrote...

I'm quite fond of the Engineer class on higher difficulties, but I'm a combat drone spammer. It's great to have Harbinger telling everyone to concentrate on Shepard while he's distracted firing on your drone.

No they don't spawn. You can also fire powers at them (Reave is especially effective). Your squad's powers are more efffective since they just have to see the part you are aiming at. Shepard's warp can be less effective (because of the curving part) but Miranda (warp) and Mordin (incinerate) are good ones to use.

I do love that combat drone. Man that thing is a life saver at distracting the enemy. Bring Legion and Tali with you, and those drones make it fun.

Why is Vanguard better than Adept on harder levels.NICKjnp wrote...
Vanguard is a good class on harder levels (Not Adept... unless your an experienced at playing Adept). Also... squad mates that sometimes suck on easier levels (like Jack or Tali) for some reason play much better on harder levels.
I have heard that Tali is better on harder levels. I wonder why though.

This is similar to the Collector Base right before the final Boss. If you keep your distance, you can fire away at those two scions and they will not come towards you.NICKjnp wrote...

Weapons damage, incendiary ammo and shield recharge (from charge).
I think the enemy AI is more likely to take cover so you can get your squad in closer. That and I play the game enough that I could probably play lone wolf by now. I did that on the Collector platform with Jack and Kasumi. I can't believe that this happened... but Jack went toe-to-toe with Harbinger. It was the funniest things I saw. Squad warp ammo is a thing.

If you visit the character build forum, you will find a wealth of information for vanguards and infiltrators, specifically geared toward the harder difficulties. I think they're just popular classes.
Vanguard is hardier than an Adept, I think, particularly with Charge boosting your barrier. Shotgun to the face is nice, too. Most of the builds and guides I see for Adepts place heavy emphasis on the correct use and placement of Singularity. Without it, your Adept lacks proper kung fu.
Again, it has to do with playing style. Someone who plays a Soldier will think Sentinels, Engineers, and Adepts weak, I suspect. Since I'm a heavy power user, the Soldier class is useless to me.

So you let Tali use her shotgun on harder levels? I usually switch her out with the pistol so she won't try to get in too close to the enemy on veteran. On harder levels though, I assume her shotgun is better since the squad can get in closer then?NICKjnp wrote...

So you'll take warp ammo over AP?
I don't fool with squad ammo poweres any more because that damn glitch that Bioware has not patched yet.
Go Samara!

I don't have much use for the soldier either. What I don't like about the ME2 Adept, is the time it takes for the powers to reach the target, with exception of Reave, which any class can use.Pacifien wrote...

Only Jack's and Grunt's ammo powers. Grunt when I'm an Adept... and Jack always. Jack's shotgun is good when she is close to targets (like the collector ship platforms).
I prefer warp ammo because as an Adept or Biotic you are going to be using powers that cause enemies to be affected by biotics (warp ammo does double damage to enemies affected by biotics). Pull field for a vanguard and wide singularity are both great for warp ammo.

I did hardcore run through the derelict reaper with Samara, Jack and my Sheploo vanguard. Jack died once and Samara took down half the health of a scion in under 15 seconds. It was crazy. Lift field is a great tool for killing husks. Use warp ammo (or area reave) to strip their armor then just hit a group with lift field. Also... vanguards don't fight from a distance (so the time they reach their targets isn't noticable). Shockwave (which I barely use) is designed to go a distance.

Warp ammo does double damage to enemies who are being affected by pull, singularity or slam (which is a pointless power because it doesn't have a long duration). It doesn't matter if they are organic or not.

Warp ammo will damage barriers, armor, and shields, I believe. Armor piercing does better at damaging armor than warp ammo, but it only provides the bonus against armor as opposed to all three defenses. Plus the extra damage to an enemy suffering a biotic effect.JohnnyDollar wrote...

Which glitch is that? I haven't had a problem since I learned how to get rid of Thane's bloody shredder ammo.JohnnyDollar wrote...

I love Reave, but only when Samara uses it. She's, like, a super biotic. It makes sense that she has this insanely powerful biotic attack. Overpowered for Shepard to be using it.

I love using it (then again I play biotics... and vanguards need a damage type biotic power).

Shepard: Hey, can you teach me Reave?
Samara:..why?
Shepard: It would help me out of a few jams
Samara: Under one condition. If we are both on the battlefield, only I may use it
Shepard:.....k deal.
*later on the battlefield*
Samara & Shepard: Reave!
Shepard: Jinx!
Samara: <_<
