An interesting thing.

-From ME Wiki:

On Illium, when Jack comments that the place is full of soft people who will make good victims, Samara interjects that had Jack really committed the crime then she would have to stop her, to which Jack replies that she would certainly see Samara tries.

Didn't she also say something like people come to Omega in hopes of a better life? I thought that was rather odd. Who would come to Omega for salvation, do the general public have a completely wrong impression of Omega? And once they land there they realize how seedy it really is. There is also the notion of some residents believing that the Omega 4 relay has a paradise on the other side. Its probably this kind of distorted perception that leads people there, we already see the "crazy religious" Salarian down there.

I'd like to open up discussion on the different places we explore in ME2, specifically the aforementioned Omega, Tuchanka, Illium and Citadel to an extent. And what they may represent. They all seem to resonate a dark atmosphere. Omega is the more obvious example of anarchy and blatant corruption. Illium has the dark undertones, and subtle corrupted systems in place. Tuchanka is like Middle Europe after WW2, left very much destroyed and bleak. Citadel is pretty much like Washington DC, which ironically has one of the highest crime rates in the US. Thane, Garrus, Samara and others mention some of the major flaws that the Citadel has in its security system and Samara says it "has many dark places that people ignore, but she tries to seek them out for justice."

Thoughts, Comments, Bueller?

Sorry, I didn't see that. I read Johnny's post and I decided to look on the wiki for more Samara dialog, and that's what I found. Didn't realize that it had already been posted.

No worries, I'm basically regurgitating information anyway. Its been strikingly dull around here the last couple days, unsurprisingly.

This isn't what you asked Mak, but Tuchanka felt too small to me. Bioware did not give the illusion of a big enough world. Not with the Krogan themselves, or the individual Clans. Did anyone else have this impression?

The entire game felt like a smaller world.

Absolutely, it feels like a big shack. Might be the smallest environment in the game aside from some levels on the Normandy lol. I guess they didn't really know what to put in the homeland of the brooding warriors. I mean they were kinda stretching it with that Krogan engineer :D. I wouldn't mind if they included some kind of Coliseum or Arena where Krogan train. I would think they would be pretty much akin to Spartans in this sense. Dedicating a substantial amount of resources to their fighting prowess. What do you think?

EDIT: Samara really needs to go down there and whip those Krogan into shape :D

@Maka: That would be really cool. Some huge arena would benefit the sense of scale, because as it is Tuchanka feels small and closed off.

Need to look no further than the substantial shrinkage of the Citadel to see this. I think the biggest level in the game then is Illium right?

Out of all the places in ME2, which would you all most like to revisit in ME3? I have a feeling we haven't seen the last of Omega. And seeing as how many of the characters have a certain link or interest with it (Mordin, Garrus, Samara) I would think there might be a little mission down there to tie it up. And of course Aria, if they are this invested in her as they seem to be, we haven't seen the last of her. She is from my view set up to be a "Pride comes before the fall" archetypal depiction, but there is a couple of routes they could go with her. Anyone want to go back to Illium? Honestly, aside from scooping up Dr. T'soni, I don't really want to see that place again. Then again, it is full of those Asari :D

I kind of want to return to Illium. I just love the atmosphere and the colors (that isn't an Asari joke). The environment is the reason why Samara's recruitment is possibly my favorite recruitment mission in general.

Of course the place I really want to return to is the Citadel but that's a given. After that, it's Tuchanka because I want to see how the Krogan turn up. Then the Migrant Fleet because I want to see how the Quarian/Geth subplot develops. After that...Noveria I guess.

That would be interesting.  Perhaps even a medium scale inter-clan battle.  With Shep and his squadmates playing a role.  Similar to Haestrom in scale I suppose.  Show a cutscene of Wrex kicking a little butt.

In ME lore anyway, those Asari Matriarchs/Justicars can handle a Battallion on their own.  Who was it that told that story about that Asari that wiped out all of those Krogan?  Was that Grunt?

For the first time I heard comments from Samara in the Omega market. Close to that balcony overlooking greater Omega around the corner from that Elcor's shop.

What's that she says?  That she might return and clean the place up?

Something to this effect:  "The conditions at Omega etc..  These people need protection.  If I survive your mission, I may return here to clean it up"

"People come to places such as these seeking a better life.  Instead they find this, violent people forcing them into destitution.  If I survive your mission I may return here to help them."

Something close to that.

How could it be Grunt JD? Dude just came out of a tank :P. I don't think he's up on that "Asari owning Krogan" history. I think its Wrex your referring to. Though I don't particularly recall this instance.

When I saw Tuchanka, I was immediately reminded of Earth in WALL-E, right down to the dust-storms and dilapidated highways.

The problem with Tuchanka is that it lacked the sense of scale that I would have wanted from a planet that's supposed to be completely covered in ruins.

On the other hand, killing Pyjaks was totally worth it <_<

There should have been a boss battle with a big Pyjak :o

I remember Kudara's, but I could have sworn I remember a squadmate or another character talking about this.

I didn't find out about that mission until after I had stopped playing ME2.  Where do you get it?
