I thought it was an excellent scene, and I hope BioWare does it more where you can express your love for a character but they can reject you. Shepard looked so lonely, I felt bad for her. It's a pity that you can still pursue the other LI after you do this though, kind of cheapens it.

Another problem is that if you picked the paragon "friends" option you kind of get the sore end of the stick. The scene is nowhere near as powerful. She could have given my character a friendly hug or say her version of a prayer or something.

By the way, does she actually go somewhere when she leaves the room or does she just disappear off the ship until she returns to her room?

No actually when that ends, she's still meditating at your feet! I just did that scene and I was like 'wth?'

Friend or foe?

Friend, of course. Who wants a Justicar for a foe?

I love Samara!!!! I don't think she's cold at she is as she describes herself: controlled. Her emotionality is subtle. You can find it in her word choice and I think just how well thought out her dialog was, was excellent. There wasn't a single word out of place.

I loved how tragic her story was and how they showed that her strength and resolve came with great personal sacrifices that you can see still have an affect on her hundreds of years later. She's one on a list of characters that I think were better written than Shepard. lol

I like the way they built her up before her entrance in the story. Asari children grow up seeing them as legendary heroes, while adults are deeply wary of them. Then when she finally shows up, she's merciless and terrifying.

yay!!!!

yes I think liara should become this super powerful asari and join shep and all the rest of the crew. hopefully (while ME3 is being made) she finds and gets rid of the shadow broker (who i think is the illusive man.. or the chef on the Normandy   ) and then can come play with shepsy!!

I was so distressed that we didn't get to spend time on illium.. she just had me run around and hack stuff then blew me off.

next game is going to blow our minds, I'm sure of it! wooot!!

Thats another reason I want her on my side for 3. Be cool to travel to Asari planets with her and get reactions. And if we ever get put in jail id know I only gotta spend a day then she will kill the guards for me haha.

I know!  Samara's far from cold.  In fact, she's one of the friendliest people on your ship.  And, she has an awesome sense of humor (though subtle).  I'm playing the game for the second time and I'm just now trying to get my head around her character.  She's become my favorite ME2 character.

One of Samara's appeals is that her moral code is similar to mine (and the Shepard I roleplay).  She believes in justice and protecting the innoscent, but will not pull any punches when it comes to the wicked.  At first, she comes off cold and heartless, but once you get to know her, you find out that this is not the case.

it also helps that she's 1,000 years old and has already learned all her lessons the hard way. some of the stories she tells sounds like some of Jack's work

I feel she's a very emotional character, but she always keeps that  'professional' wall up; she can't afford to let anyone in having taken that oath of the Justicar. Not that she can't love anyone but she just won't 'be' with them. Like she tells Shep, she knows her desires and can keep them under control.

I for one was really wow'd when I first met her on the recruit mission. Just the way the creators had her carry herself and talk- perfect match. The outfit was kind of a strange choice, given that she's bound to the code and all that, but hey- she doesn't look a day over 900 so it's all good

I really hope to see her in ME3 because I feel she's a very strong character and will add to the depth... so we'll see!! Cross ya fingers and meditate!

It's going to be very useful for Shepherd to have the support of a Justicar when s/he has to convince the Asari to join the fight in an all-out war against the Reapers.

I loved Samara. She is hands down my favorite asari character, both character-wise and design, thus far. I didn't expect to like her either when I first saw a picture of her before the game's release, but after the promo-trailer she really started to grow on me. By the time I got her in game she was one of my top five favorites, grant it, it's really hard for me to choose - I like all of the characters.

I hope she returns - I prefer her over Liara, though I've got nothing against the latter. I just find Samara more interesting in appearance and character.

I like all the characters too... well okay Jacob is wicked boring    but everyone else is good! I just felt like Samara deserves her own thread because.. damnit, she's worth it!  ^_^

Jacob? Who's Jacob? ;) Oh you mean the mindless drone!

Anyway yes, Samara totally deserves her own thread. She was one of the more interesting complex characters for sure. Here's some angst!

LMAO!  Agreed.  I'm hoping that if you had a high renegade in ME2 that she comes after you in ME3.  The final battle comes to another cut scene wherein the justicar caught Shepard by surprise and Liara comes to the rescue.  BIOTIC BATTLES FTW!  If you hardened Liara (even more lol) earlier in the game she kills Samara and it's revealed that Samara is actually Liara's father who left because she couldn't bare to think she was going to have yet another defective offspring.  Ultimately, Liara has to come to terms that she killed both her parents (if she wasn't ur squad mate in me1 then that she let her mother die).  DRAMA!

ok jk but a gal can dream.

I would take Jacob over Kaidan any day. He might be somewhat generic, but he's likable enough in that he's easy going and not pompous or self-important. There's nothing overly complicated about Jacob - just a normal guy without the typical baggage or sob story. It's kind of refreshing really.

But back to Samara. She's under appreciated so she needs all the support she can get.

omg- wow!!! but wait- Liara would've fried Shep's brain if she was Samara's daughter! or maybe it skipped her??

OOOOOO!!!! :o

Oh but maybe the SHADOWBROKER is her dad!!! and it's really a lady (which it usually is if they keep them hidden and they're powerful, e.g. Bond's boss lady) and it's Samara!!!  It could go on forever.. it's like a soap opera!!

I am with you- the biotic battles are great! I think they appeal to me so much because I want those POWERS!!

Imagine you have to move a couch to the 10th floor? Just levitate it and pop it in the window!! Simple!!!
