But while being a ruthless killer connects her somewhat to her equally ruthless daughter, I'm unsure if Samara really wants to kill. She does so because the Code demands it for certain situations.
I agree that I don't think that Samara wants to kill. But in Morinth's defence for her motivation to kill... does an addict really want to do drugs? Or do smokers really want to smoke? I know a lot that want to stop but can't. Sure they have cravings, get peasure from it... but often they don't want to do it. Maybe Morinth once resisted... but eventually gave into her genetic destiny and embraced it.
Again, I think ME3 will flush out the topics further and we will find that Samara and Morinth are not so different.

We don't really know what was going through Morinth's mind when she first started killing. Was she both horrified by the death but excited by the rush? Were her first few kills a dramatic struggle of what she knew was wrong but what felt so right?
The Codex implies that Ardat-Yakshi lack empathy, but we don't know if this is something they are conditioned not to have because it makes the killing easier or if they're truly born without the ability to empathize. Or, alternatively, if it's asari propaganda to turn public perception against the Ardat-Yakshi.
Whether Morinth ever had empathy, by the time we meet her in ME2, she certainly has lost the ability. Talking with her as you wander her apartment tells me that much. In the end, that's the major difference between Samara and Morinth. Samara feels guilt and sorrow for the destruction she has wrought. Morinth doesn't.

To add: Samara kills her daughter, but loves her. Morinth kills her mother, hating her. Samara dies loving her daughter. Morinth dies hating her mother.

I thought I might have come across a good song for a Samara romance. It's a really pretty song, but I'm not so sure if it would be fit for a romance theme (and it is definitely not sci-fi), it has a bit of a tragic tone to it as well...

The clear middleastern tone given to Samara's theme in the game reminds me of the music composed by Brian Tyler for "Frank Herbert's Children of Dune" miniseries produced by the SciFi Channel:
"Inama Nushif": a beautiful piece for a Samara "romance" or death scene
"Farewell": same musical theme, instrumental, death/farewell/epilogue scene
"I Only Have Now": Samara's private grief and rage at the universe over her daughters' fate
"Sign of the Bene Gesserit": Samara recieves dire news, shares with Shepard, dreadful conclusions are drawn...
"Children of Dune": the "acknowledged but unconsummated romance" scene we envisionned in this thread

I thought it would be even more interesting if Jack's parents were famous criminals somewhere, and Samara has come to stop them for some reason. That would be a real roleplaying moment - choose between stopping Samara from killing Jack's newly-found parents, perhaps killing Samara in the process, or choose to help Samara, get Jack's parents killed, and maybe even get Jack killed if Jack retaliates. This would be even worse for a Paragon Shepard if Shepard romanced Jack in ME2, not to mention if he had befriended Samara in ME2.

The Justicar Order may be a group of she devils that rule the underworld. They present Samara to infiltrate Cerberus to defeat the Reapers. Morinth is actually a fellow Justicar(she devil), but has crossed the ruler of the underworld. Part of Samara's mission is to send Morinth back to the 9th plane of hell.
Ok... now I've joined Ashira in the confusion department. I don't know what you are talking about.
