Fair enough. I haven't read the entire discussion you've been having about fanboys or whatever, I just decided to jump in and offer my opinion.
P.S. This and the Garrus thread are my favorite threads in the forum.

The groupthink talk led us astray I think, it was supposed to be about obsession relating to the characters in this context, but we got too general and started to talk about psychological aspects and society (moi partly to blame). Points taken tho.

Perhaps we should return to discussing Samara then? :P

Though at the moment my inspiration is a bit dry. Thinking about how she's not one to dwell on the past, aside from whatever guilt she feels about what happened to her daughters, but do wonder what the Justicar Samara would think of the Mercenary Samara. Don't think mercenaries automatically qualify as targets for a Justicar because mercenary work doesn't have to be about hurting innocents.

ETA: Also wonder if she's a cheese and wine sort of lady. Just because I'm eating brie at the moment.

While mercenaries do not have to threaten innocents, they aren't unable to. A lot of what they do does threaten innocents. So considering that mercenaries can and often do threaten innocents, I do see Samara as disapproving of her former life, especially since her mercenary company traded slaves.

On another note, I suppose the question is also dependent on what kind of mercenary we're talking about. Eclipse mercenaries are required to murder someone in cold blood. Unless Samara has a good reason to believe that an individual of the group did not follow this requirement, there seems to be a good chance that she could judge them as targets on the murder requirement of Eclipse.

But reading through some of the planet descriptions, I think there was one where the Eclipse were regarded as heroes for overthrowing some regime or freeing slaves.

That was most likely simply part of their contract, someone with a lot of money hired them. Just as Zaeed is generally regarded as ruthless and dangerous yet he is part of the team set for the noble goal of getting rid of the collectors.

Justicars act out of oath to their code, instead of desire for material posession. And I don't believe that one supposedly positive incident with the Eclipse would override their history as having members who are nasty murderers.

Yeah, but my point is that Mercenary Samara could have easily been the type of mercenary that a Justicar wouldn't bother with. I don't think making a living as a mercenary would be considered a crime. And then when confronted with the trade of slaves, Samara chose to wipe out her fellow mercs to save the slaves. So I guess even before her Justicar days, Samara followed her own code.

ETA: Found it. That would have driven me crazy if I brought up something I saw in the game as an example without being able to fully remember the details.

I agree, it's very possible that she would not regard mercenaries automatically as targets. However, I think that Eclipse mercenaries may be the exception. Their uniforms are earned with the blood of murder.

I like that.  The incongruity is funny, and the clothes make her look adorable.

Her face is modeled after a real person, but she's quick to point out it's only the face, not the bluebs.

Shepard: *walks in*

Samara: *arms spread* I'M QUEEN OF THE WORLD!

Shepard: ....

Samara: Oh Shepard *dusts self off* ahem, what can I do for you?

Shepard: Just checking in, noticed you've been quite jovial lately, I like it ^_^. But the crew is complaining of too much noise

Samara: They don't understand

Shepard: Understand what?

Samara: *spreads arms* THAT I'M QUEEN OF THE WORLD!

Shepard: Uhuh, yea, look that's great, I'm glad you found peace and all, but our mission isn't over you know

Samara: Oh right, the mission, I want you to know I'm fully focused and will do whatever is necessery

Shepard: Good to hear, Samara, keep up your cerebral and collected attitude then?

Samara: I will do my best

Shepard: Thanks *walks out*

Samara: *spreads arms* I'M THE CEREBRAL AND COLLECTED QUEEN OF THE WORLD!

Shepard: [from outside] Goddammit!

Great, I just had an image of Aria flash across my brain with her arms outstretched claiming to be Omega. So now Samara is staring out into the empty void claiming to be the universe.
