Oh, derp. That's the artist drawing the picture of Samara & Shepard that I commissioned.

And then the final moment came..."I want more". I honestly didn't want more at first. I choose to be her freind the first time, and right after just couldn't bare to think about what little fountain of dialogue may have gone unexplored by me. So I bailed and reloaded. I wanted more. Not in the sense of a romance, but just more from Samara the character. And she delivered. At one point I even thought to myself.."this isn't really going to happen is it? Shepard and Samara can't really be together at this point." Not only would it be a domestic nightmare, but it would also be too good to be true. I got the feeling Samara thought this as well, and she acknowledged just how much amount of "want" she has, but also what was "needed" for her. She needed the stability of what Justicar life offers. That may sound like an oxymoron, but she could not give up the life of a Justicar just because a woman who "has reawakened those desires" in her demands it. That's just not right.
And what about Shepard. Not only can you have the audacity to push for Samara's "sweet" love" as someone put it, but you can just ask quickly as for casual sex. How many people here would go up to a warrior of an ancient monastic order whose experience trumps yours ten-fold and ask for some quality time like that? Not only is it innapropriate, it is totally awesome. Yes, another oxymoron, but this little exchange sparks some inner "forbidden fruit" desires in me and I like to play my Shepard as a kind of sucker for those. I reloaded and played this as well
As for the future of Samara in regards to a romance. No. Although initially I was neutral upon the matter. I don't think it can happen, although I'm still open minded towards it. But not after the awesomeness that was the romance scene in this game. They made Samara use the "too good to be true" card. How do you come back from "its too good to be true, but no"? Any ideas? I thought not. Simply put, this phrase is a trump card when it comes to romance dialogue, I've seen it in every facet of literature. It is equivalant to the "in another time, another life" phrase which consequently is also used by Samara. So that's two trump cards people! That's checkmate. My Shepard was daunted, but she accepted it. Though not quite heartbroken, because that would entail that it was mutual. But Samara would not let it get to that. She cut off the bud before it could grow into something glorious, not because she was afraid or selfish. It was purely a matter of principle and honor. There was only The Code.
I also think that the writers fully intended this to be a stand alone aspect of Samara's character, and I would not put faith in them to try to attempt and come back from the enclosure they gave it. It wouldn't hold true to me. I'm not trying to say that making her a romance option would destroy her character or something. But I find it hard to see, in the grand scheme of things considering how they develop these romances, how it wouldn't come off as forced. I quite enjoy the dissonant harmony in this result. I would like to leave it as that.

My favorite episode with Samara of Nine is the first episode she is in. The Borg try to betray voyager in the end and Janeway is ready for it. She gives Chekote and predetermined "kill order" phrase (Scorpion) and he jetisons (except for Samara of Nine) them out of the cargo bay... pure awesome.

You had the same exact reaction I did. I was on my 3rd playthrough of Mass Effect 2, and I thought I would try and romance Samara because she was my favorite character. I had gotten used to the formula of "talk to them, go on their loyalty mission, talk to them more, get the cabin scene" and when she said relationships weren't forbidden by the code and she "appreciated my interest" I thought she was romanceable. When my shepard got rejected, I was a bit upset. I checked these forums to see if she was romanceable, and when I found out she wasn't, I joined a few "Samara for LI in ME3" groups and gave my support to similar threads. But when I started to think about it, I wasn't really sure I wanted her to be an LI. Unless it was done in a tasteful manner and with some artistic skill, I think it would take away from her character. I just hope she remains in my squad for ME3.aamy wrote...

Yes, aside from the romance aspect, I absolutely want Samara to be back alongside either of my Paragon or Renegade Shepards to fight the Reapers. Its just a matter of whether they want the squadmates to have a personal story of their own in the next game. At the same time, there is no way we can expect the same level of character missions in the next game, but it is impractical to have characters return without a personal inclination to Shepard or to the cause itself. That is a matter that must be resolved first and foremost. A game without Samara and Jack, although they are characters more for enrichment of the story than for plot progression, would still feel somewhat empty to me.

I hope she is Romancable but in a well thought out and non-cliche romance. If a meme is spawned from a poor romance of her in ME 3, i will strap several kilos of C4 to my copy of ME 3 and make it go away.

I tend to agree here. I have always said that I think that Samara is out of Shep's league. At least the way her personal characteristics are presented, and how the relationship between the two of them unfolds in ME2.aamy wrote...

No one from ME 1 got a good role in ME 2 except for Tali (who is my least favorite out of the originals) IMO. Garrus was in your squad but he had almost no Dialogue which was a downer. If they do this to Samara in ME 3 i will facepalm so hard i may die.

well that was rather articulate. I more or less agree with your analysis. It is a "too good to be true" type situation. Writing a romance on top of what happened here is not only hard, but probably would require some unrealistic character changes I wouldn't want to see. I would want them to make an attempt at it atleast. Its no harm, maybe this one romance will allow them to break free of their formulaic romance writing and give us a worthy affair
