Do Asari head tentacles/crests move like human ears do? :D

What, you mean perk up when they hear something, or wiggle when they're trying to be humorous?

They have ears, they're pits in their skulls, as with snakes.

I wish Bioware would give Asari headcrests some biological function, even if it is only science-fiction technobabble.

"Oh, their, uh, eezo nodess are located in their headcrests, and their close proximity to the brain lets them, uh, have greater biotic ability.  Yeah, that's the ticket."

I think it would make them more distinct from aliens, which clearly is needed regarding their appearance if they want to move away from the "Mary-sue" thing. I don't want alot of movement up their, but little twitches here and then would be kind of cool. Obviously too late for that now, couldn't imagine how they would try to retcon something like that...

ok next question, do Asari facial markings really denote the "father" asari or are they just a novelty like green eyes? :D

Image IPB

i realize this borders on the topic of discussion whose name shall not be mentioned (it rhymes with masari phonetics) but hey...I'm bored k?

I don't think they're genetic, or we would see a lot more Asari with them.  The Asari with the Salarian father doesn't have them.  Matriarch Aethyta doesn't have them.    Unless they're a statement of "Hey, look at me, I'm not a Pureblood", they're probably for aesthetics.

Freckles, because Samara and Liara.

I want to know what the Asari and Humans first thought of each other when seeing each other for the first time.

In unison: "Hey, they look like us!"

hmmm...good choice, but I dunoooo, Shiala and Tevos have nice facial markings.

If there is anyone out there lurking that is also a very talented artist, I hope you take the initiative of drawing Samara with facial markings for us to see :D

haha, the Asari probably thought...."hmm they have different versions of themselves, one with long hair and wider hips, and the other with shorter hair and wider chests, so wierrrrd, but so..interesting"

And the humans thought "....blue space babes! all this toiling in space was worth it!"

That would be weird if they could open up those tentacles and expose their brain.

I see no evolutionary advantage to exposing your own brain.

Me neither, it doesn't detract from it being weird though.

You know... Liara's helmet is bigger than Ashley's and Femshep's. Her helmet extends at the back of it.

I wonder if anyone has down asari art where they show the tentacles somewhat mobile instead of their static sculpted look...

You mean like tentacles flowing in the wind? I can't say I would find that appealing.

Looking at the Asari concept art in the Art of Mass effect book, their headcrests look like they do now, though they didn't always have headcrests in the concept art.

I like this part:  "To capture a familiar element of science fiction 'fantasy' fulfillment, one of the main species of Mass Effect was to be a race of beautiful 'green alien girls'.  An extensive exploration of ideas was needed to make them appear exotic and alien while still retaining human qualities allowing them to be desirable as potential love interests."

I guess Bioware just took that idea and ran with it and made them desirable to all species through pheromones and features common to most upright-standing bipedal species in the ME universe.  Also, "mind-control"  (derp).

*ahem* Can anyone dig up their screenshots or "the" screenshots or Samara smiling? I made a caption for the lulz in one of my groups - because we act like insane children 90% of the time - and it went somewhat awry=P

As seen here-> BAH! Quoting fail. Just see the page.

Part One
Part Two (finished)

*ahem* Anyway. I need a better picture of her smiling, must have a better image for the caption!

Sadly, I'd have to be a member of the group to see the screenshot... but I think I have something on a backup somewhere. I'll look for it when I get home.
