Honestly, I never liked Samara. I find her character quite boring. Just like Liara, boring. I never kill her and take Morinth instead but still, Samara is just boring to me. I think Bioware should have more colorful Asari join the team, and I don't mean skin. I mean come on, you've got a race of all blue woman, who can screw anyone, ALL have GREAT biotics, now they have vampires, come on. They give us a bookish scientist, and a monotoned, depressed policewoman. Really? REALLY? You create a league of all powerfull special ops SWAT Asari from hell, who can do ANYTHING they want and you give us one whose depressed and tone deaf?
Do you have a more interesting proposal and/or suggestion?
I'm sorry if I came across like a jerk there, but all I said was I found her boring. I never said I hated her character, it's just that I saw the potential for a character with a background like this, and I was disapointed. I've gone through all of her dialouge, just like every other squadmate throughout the game in all of my playthroughs. and if you don't believe me here's your proof: About the third time you talk to her, she mensions something and you wind up talking about how she fought Nihlus Kryik for two weeks and he escaped by using her code against her. An innocent or him. Honestly, she reminds me of a jedi, which is a good thing, if she didn't I wouldn't lkie her at all. Her loyalty mission is one of my favorites though. it's just that, well you guys have my complaints up there ^ lol.
That is perfectly fine. I can understand why people may not like her character, but I also see how much depth she has to offer. She deals in absolutism. She's 'good,' but still kills in the name of justic, which can present the player with issues of moral ambiguity. A Jedi is merciful, killing only when necessary, and believing that people can be redeemed. (Honestly, she reminds me more of a Vulcan than anything.) Samara carries the same 'Paragon' demeanor, but is
not merciful, striking with a righteous vengeance underneath the control that she has mastered. And even more so, with a deep-rooted sadness, when it comes to her daughter. A daughter who merely went on the run for being persecuted (albeit a psychotic one). "The genetic destiny" of the Asari also brings up some interesting questions.
I feel as if we have only begun to scratch the surface that is Samara. She has lived for nearly a millenium, is the only crew member to refuse the romantic advances of one Commander Shepard, and even more interesting is the prospect of her attempting to bring a Renegade Shepard to justice in ME3. I believe her character has plenty more to offer.
