It was somewhat sad to see her that way, probably the one act she does that showed a little weakness, some realism in her character. She was quite moved, rather then disturbed I believe.

I'm not quite sure.  There's a very, very very thin line to walk between romancing her without making her give up everything she holds dear, and romancing her with the unintended side-effect of making her doubt her own fortitude and determination.  That's why I'm hesitant to encourage and pursue any romance with Samara.   I have no clue where the line is, myself, and I'd be afraid to walk it.

If someone has a video, please upload it.

Hmm thats interesting considering Shepards lines during that scene. His message gets redundant, and he basically repeats two lines to the effect of "you can let go..." and she still doesn't.

"We have a connection..."

"It can be, you just have to open your mind"

"You've kept tight control for a long time, you still have needs"

"Galaxy won't end if you find a little happiness"

"You've been strong through so much, now its your time..."

Its obvious Shepard doesn't really know where he can break through to her, he was just throwing out words that possibly meant something. Its definitely something that would come from spending more time with her. Maybe if they allow a romance Shep won't take a headstrong approach next time. But yea you are right in the sense that line is hard to find with her.

there's no video of her returning to the observation deck if that's what you mean. Its when you go to another level on the Normandy and then back she will be back in the observation deck.

7Makaveli,

Shepard was definitely feeling around in the dark in trying to find a way to get through Samara. He finds out that he can take a seat when speaking to her, and soon after he's trying to sweet-talk her?

The line is indeed thin, i hope Bioware can pull off a romance thath doesn't ruin her Character.

The ending of her "almost romance" is interesting in that she leaves the room. Its almost like she knew if she stayed longer she would have given in to her feelings. Even with how strong she is she still needs to remove herself from the situation to maintain control of herself. I honestly thought that it wasn't over at that point, so when I found her in the crew's quarters I was a little disappointed you couldn't continue the conversation. I wonder if there was something in place for that particular scene that they cut out.

I also would love to see a comic or even fanfic about Samara's encounter with Nihlus the Spectre, who she chased through the jungles. Sounds like an awesome story.

I  didn't know that she could be found in the crew's quarters after that.  Huh.  Well, there is no bed in the Observation Deck, unless Samara sleeps on the couches in there.  She probably has a bunk in the crew's quarters (though there don't seem to be nearly enough beds for the whole crew).  She tells us that Justicars have little else other than their armor and their weapons.  It sounds like she went there to distance herself from Shepard, not because she's creeped out, but because she needs to regain composure.  She was so close to betraying everything that gives her the ability to continue on as she does.  In fact, your Shepard probably made things even worse for her by following her, from a roleplaying perspective :(.

If Bioware goes the DA:O route by showing the fate of the different characters by giving them each their own summary screen at the end of the game, it would be nice if there was one for Samara and Shepard, if Shepard had no ME1 love-interest, and expressed his interest for Samara in ME2.  Some small trigger in ME3 would trigger the summary screen, stating that Samara and Shepard continued their duties at each other's side, and continue to do so long after the events of ME3.  There would be no mention of children, or settling down, just a mutual, distant and endearing attraction to one another.

(I hope Shepard would at least be able to steal a kiss from her every so often, though.  Imagine being able to look in to these beauties while kissing.)

Her eyes are hypnotic...You know, I didn't notice she had no eyebrows until very late in the game.

Just Matriarch Benezia and her daughter, Liara, and there's no indication as to why they have eyebrows, either.  Humans haven't had even 50 years to impress upon the Asari our standard of anatomy and beauty.

Yea, I like to see Shepard turning into this eager young fella not really knowing what he's shooting for only to be shot down gently. Its a huge contrast from the other romances (again, not  to bash) where he is in the upper hand and you're basically deciding if you want to make yourself available to them. The other romances are where the squad member comes across as the awkward, shy and eager type, while in this situation its Shepard that assumes that role.

I wasn't implying she looked strange; it was just an observation. Samara is beautiful just the way she is.Posted Image

I  know, and I wasn't saying that you think that she looks strange.

Sometimes my eyes have tricked me in to thinking that Samara has giant, angular red eyebrows from those doodads she has glued to her forehead.

Ok. How do you know Samara was modeled after that woman? I believe you (the resemblance is definitely there); I'm just curious.

She says so on the website link I posted one post up.  I assume that Bioware was looking for a face-model for Samara, wanting someone with strong, angular facial features, and found her on that model website.

Interesting. I thought characters were just designed, not all modeled after real people. Thanks for the info!

I heard somewhere that Bioware had real-life face-models for most of the PCs and NPCs in the  ME games.  Characters that are the obvious exception are aliens that have very dissimilar facial features to humans.   I  heard that Jack has no face-model, but that the animators pored over animating her facial expressions.  They did a good job.   Jack is beautiful, and her facial animations are great.

Speaking of Jack, how do you think Samara would respond to her and the other members in general? I think this was a detail ME2 lacked-squad interaction.

Jack would be a moral quandary for Samara.   Jack is Jack because it's the way she found to survive.  She turned to criminal behavior because it was the way things worked in the world she lived in growing up, from the very second she caught a shuttle off of Pragia.  Samara would be faced with the age-old question of whether or not a person can be moral if they engage in criminal activity because they have no alternative, because they have to do it to survive.

Some of what Jack did was mostly inexcusable, and excessive.   Crashing a space-station in to a moon?    That's not exactly stealing a loaf of bread to feed one's family.  I think Samara would be highly intolerant of Jack.

My Shepad would speak ethics with Samara for hours.  I'd dump all of my J.S. Mill texts on the floor next to her and just start reading to her.

I hear you yorkj86. Any time with Samara is good time. I'd love to just talk to her. No one else on the Normandy has the same effect on me. Do you think she would disapprove of Grunt? I think she would. If you take her along to Tuchanka she says she would like to teach the krogan compassion, but that she would need many bullets.Posted Image

Grunt's impartial himself.  He believes in savagery and the glory of combat, but also the concept of honor and friendship.   I don't think Samara would mind Grunt, though she might be bothered that he doesn't seem to follow any code apart from "survival of the fittest".  She would probably be concerned that he would turn to crime, or become a mercenary, as most Krogan do.

I don't think Samara was being sincere when she talked about returning to Tuchanka.  She does state that she doesn't like the barbarism of the Krogans' current state on the planet, but there's no room for alternative, anyway.  Samara states that she hates the way the Krogan make the Varren fight in the pit.  She probably thinks that the Krogan don't care about compassion for all living (innocent) things, but why would they, on Tuchanka?
