Looks like you chose the appropriate composition. A very somber-moving occasion.Metal-Dragon-Kiryu wrote...

Is this Samara finding out about her daughters being AY?
Yup.
It was quite difficult to decide how to portray it, but in the end I decided to go for a very basic, almost boring composition, to add to the clinical way her life was destroyed.

In the case of human serial killers, parents could be forgiven the often vain hope that their child could be healed somehow and made innocent again. For many of these serial killers, however, there were no parents left to mourn what they became: their psychosis was often driven by an unhealthy/abusive relationship with their parents. They became serial killers because they never developped the empathy that keeps "sane" people from hurting others without cause.AshiraShepard wrote...

I can imagine a human in Samara's position. Imagine how the parents of Jeffrey Dahmer, John Wayne Gacy, Ted Bundy, etc. must have felt. Presumably the parent of a serial killer might feel that their child's death is a necessary thing, though of course in the real world such things would be left to the authorities. Of course in the ME universe, Samara IS the authorities.
When I told my mother about Samara, and the story around her (because I knew she would have some reaction to it) the first thing she said, genuinely, was "What a good mother." Because my mother isn't that strong, and she's told me before that if I ever killed she would help me hide the bodies, purely on the grounds that she doesn't want anyone to hurt me in spite of what I might have done.
So there's one human parental view point.
Then again my mother is crazy about her children, but what mother isn't to some varying degree?
Samara's case is a bit different. A-Y is a genetic disorder, which the victim can either choose to control (isolation) or embrace (Morinth). The latter is medically proven to be unredeemable, whereas the parents of a mentally-ill killer can always cling to their hope of having their child's condition fixed somehow.
Nevertheless, I wonder if Samara's decision to become a Justicar (and forsake her old life) wasn't driven by the knowledge that without her oath and the Code, she wouldn't find the inner strength and resolve to kill Morinth. Consider: she was already an impressive warrior before she became a Justicar (ref. the slaver incident); she could have taken the hunt for Morinth without it... but I think she needed to strenghten her resolve somehow and taking up the Justicar's mantle was what she needed.
With her hunt resolved, she may come to view her role as a Justicar differently; perhaps she will derive some happiness from it and "loosen up" a bit (perhaps in time for ME3, or not).

I know how I'd start such a fanfic, but I have now idea how I'd fill it out. I'd start with a Cerberus Daily News report, addressing the human backlash over the pairing. It'd also address the asari reaction.
I imagine that most Asari would be proud, actually. Sheps recognised as a Hero by most of the Citadel. The vast majority of the human backlash would likely be from the knuckle-dragging Terra Firma people and other such Earth First morons. Everyone else would either a) Not really give a damn who Shep has a family with, or
Remember, the loudest screaming idiots generally represent the smallest section of society.
Personally, I'd be far more interested in snippets of "flashback" interspaced in current-time storyline detailing how the hell Samara dn Shep ended up together. There's already mutual respect and admiration, but Samara made her stance clear. I wonder what would make her change her mind.
Then again, I'd alos love Timmy's response. I dare TIM to try anything on Shep and Sam's family. Aside from the hell-born wrath of those two, the backup they'd have would make whole armies pause.
