Btw, for the deep thinkers in this thread, an articulate fellow gave Shepard a line he/she could have used to counter Samara's "In another time, another life."

How do you imagine Samara would have reacted, or how the scene would have played out, had we been able to say-

"I'm already on another life."

Stolen a kiss just a second before Shepard gets his/her neck snapped? =P
Just curious...

Well I am not a writer, but here goes.:wizard:
Shep: I'm already on another life.
Samara:  *pause* You are still following your path of destiny as am I.  Nothing can change this.  The forces that guide us through our lives can be cruel and often times unforgiving.  This is how life is.  You must accept that.  To ignore this would only bring more chaos into one's life.  Shepard.....excuse me. *dramatic*

Ah, Scot people!

I actually received an offer from edinburgh university, so who knows, maybe I'll end up theretoo!

I think if Shepard had said something like 'I've already had a second life', that mood would cease being serious and would become a bit more light; Its a bit of a joky comeback no? and I think Samara would laugh it off

Shepard: I'm already on another life.

Samara: Yes, yes you are, and you'll start your third if you keep pushing me for casual sex....

Joking there, (you never know...)

Hello all, bit of a lurker here this being my first time posting in this thread. Just thought i would throw in my support for samara.

started off thinking she was a fairly flat character but after i took the time to play around with her dialog tree and reflect on her loyalty mission she really grew on me. yes i am probably just reiterating what a dozen people have said already but after delving into her character i really found myself digging her personality, motivations and back ground story more than any of the other characters.

yes i loved tali's geeky personality and awkwardness, the unique perspective brought to the table by legion and moridin's comic relief/bluntness but samara was really the only character that seemed genuinely interesting/unique to me.

Anyway really hope we get to see her in a legitimate roll for the finale. It definitely seemed that (if you delve deep enough into her dialog) she plans to stay/reunite with shepard at some point in ME3.

EDIT: if its relavant im 20

I'm 24, male.  I live in NYC.

I'll be posting my own Samara screenshots as long as my (free) online photo-storage account holds up.

Here are some pictures of the Justicar smiling, so you can see what I mean when I say that her smiles are special:

Oh, and I'm in Scotland =P

I would like to hear york86 and Flamewielder.

The whole scene is memorable, if you watch it there's actually two music tracks
The End Run, followed immediately by Shepard's Death. It's the kinda stuff I relish in movies.

As the Grey Wardens say, "In War... Victory. In Peace... Vigilance. In Death... Sacrifice".

In similar heroic fashion, I wouldn't be surprised if Samara sacrificed herself to save paragon Shepard (and whatever his/her LI would be) at the end of ME3:

<Shepard> "Someone has to manually trigger the device! Go!"
<Ashley>    "Not this time, Skipper..." [backs up against Shepard, covering the hatches with her battle rifle]
<Samara>  [throws Shepard and Ash through the farthest hatch, which seals them out] "In another life, Shepard..."

[she turns towards the console and begins activating the device]

[scene switches to Shepard and Ashley, with Shepard banging on the sealed hatch and Ashley pulling him away]

<Shepard> "Samaraaa!"
<Ashley>  "She's sealed the hatch, skipper!  We gotta get out of her before the whole place blows up!

[Shepard pauses a few seconds  and casts a last glance at the metal hatch]

<Shepard> "Let's go... " [End Run music and countdown timer starts...]

It would be the perfect surprise ending for a paragon Shepard. Sad, but also worthy of Justicar Samara.

Beautiful illustration Flamewielder.  I don't suppose you write do you?

Not well enough to make a living out of it... Posted Image But I do enjoy writing and I'm an avid reader.

But going back to Samara, it's nice that the writing staff at BW bothered introducing such a complex character. Some people complain there are simply too many characters and that ME2 might have been a better game with fewer, richer, characters.

The problem this raises is: what if none of the characters appeal to you, as a player? A comment I often read about the ME1 romances is that people chose their romance because "the other LI was worse". As if people should "settle for" the least annoying partner...Posted Image

The reason you put in more characters is just so you increase the chance that you'll find 2 of them you REALLY like, regardless of what type of Shepard you play.

Samara has a maturity that appeals to older, more mature players. They relate to Samara and understand her better. Younger players will relate to other characters better, whose personality/emotions touches them. For example, there's a lot of angst and inner rage at the world in Jack, which any young adult will relate to to some degree. That doesn't make Jack's character any less interesting, it just makes her more appealing to players younger than myself (of which there are many, I'm sure)...Posted Image

As to the age difference between a player and Shepard (who's around 30-31 by the time of ME2), I'd say I've known some very mature 30 years-olds (some who actually ended up dating/marrying older spouses)  and I've met more than my share of immature thirty-somethings whose antics would have felt quite in character for a college frat house... Me, I just play a mature 30-year old Shepard and it works all right so far...Posted Image

True one of the reasons she appeals to me is because I'm older myself, of all the possible LI in ME2 she's the only one that appeals to my FemShep.  But Alas....

Personally, I really liked the part where she says your a good friend and can call on her at anytime for aide if ya'll live thru the suicide run. She seems to genuinely like/respect Shep and the talks up to that point. She's not fatalistic about her own life as she was earlier. I hope she either comes back as a squaddie for the entire game of ME3 or at least have one mission you can do with her.

If Bioware goes all-out with ME3, everyone who has ever played and enjoyed a ME game will have a reason to buy the final installment. It's really that simple. Spend money, make money.

Unfortunately, I can't think of what else Bioware could do with Samara's character in terms of development, apart from developing her romantically, if the company decides to go that way with her. She's an incredible and invaluable companion for a Paragon Shepard, but what else is there to do with her? Bioware would be playing right in to the hands of critics of Samara's character who say that she's plain, boring and unnecessary if they were to leave out any of her development in ME3.

And why would it have to be romantically? Samara's lived long enough to witness many "historical events" first hand. I hardly think we've even scratched the surface of the character... My male Shepard never romanced Kaidan yet I thought his story was interesting. Some will say he was a whiner, I certainly didn't get that impression.

I'd argue any writer worth his/her salt could create something out of Samara for ME3. Such as paying a visit to the Asari Councillor and testifying to what she saw on the Collector base, for instance... "Tell me, Councillor: are you doubting the word of a Justicar? Pray consider your answer VERY carefully..."

An Asari Justicar would present an interesting challenge to Council politicians, especially Asari ones... Politicians have to compromise a lot in order for a Councilar/democratic system to work, some of these compromises might not be considered morally acceptable by the standards of the Code... The Nos Astra police was certainly happy to see Samara leaving! I rather think there's lots of room left for Samara's understated brand of commentary.

Do Justicars act in concert when a threat is considered too large to be handled by a single individual? Will the Justicar order be a "recruitable faction" in ME3? Will Samara play a role similar to Tali or Legion, as a liaison with the asari species? Have we aslo explored all the possible squadmate interaction possibilities? I rather think we haven't... which I think sounds rather promising for ME3.

The idea of her speaking for you in rallying the Asari as a race is actually rather interesting.  And I'd love to see a confrontation...uh meeting between her and the Council :police:

I'm just wondering what they are going to do in regards to squadmembers. I am pretty 100% sure that Liara will be a squadmember, as she is not only popular, but also the only character who cannot die in either me1 or 2. As to the rest of the potential squad, unless they introduce an entirely new crew, which i hope is unlikely since they wouldnt have time to introduce new characters and get away with it (fans...), then they will have to reuse me1 and 2 squaddies. Considering all of them can die (exception liara), then it looks like they are gonna be busy. I mean do you really think they are going to leave tali out given her huge fan base (ps. I still dont get her popularity...)?
I think this bodes well for samara, or at least I hope it does anyway![/quote]

Actually early indications may be that they will not bring in any new characters but focus on the ME1 and ME2 ones.

You are correct: In latin, the plural of dominatrix IS dominatrices. Posted Image

And yes, Samara shares some of the traits of the archetype: aesthetically pleasing appearance, a regal composure, inflexible demeanor and absolute self-confidence.

Kinda makes you wonder how someone could be stupid enough to do something bad within 10 light-years of a Justicar... but as the say: "common sense is sadly uncommon".Posted Image

I notice with that image, that when Morinth dies, her eyes are wide open the second before she dies; as if in fear. (when you don't have the magic of split-second screenshots, it looks like that)

When Samara dies, her eyes are resolutely shut.

As far as ME3 squaddies go...I'm hoping that most if not all will return. Given that Bioware must realise that everyone will desperately be trying to get the "No One Left Behind" achievement. So by the time ME3 comes out, 95% of players at least should have a playthrough where the whole team is alive.

Walkthroughs, peer advice, doing your bloody homework = All Squaddies Live for ME3.

Edit: Oh and Rikketik? *laughs. hard* XD

I agree, I think most of the players will have a save where everyone lives.  It's not that hard to achieve with all the information out there on exactly how to do it.  Those who don't will be either diehard they think someone should have died or just don't care enought to play through again and make sure everyone lives.

At least that's my personal opinion on it.

That was neat what you wrote up there, but I am little confused.

Which part are you talking about? I was talking about that video

that I posted the link to where Samara nearly gives in to

Shep and tells Shep "another time....another life"

Ashira was asking us about our thoughts as to what

would Samara say if Shep counters by saying:

"I'm already on another life"

Or maybe I am just mixed up.
