Right, because I'm sure she feels utterly delighted with her life, you can just see the rainbows and daisies popping up around her whenever she walks into a room. :bandit:

You said it yourself, it was a way to "give her life a purpose", i.e., makes her feel better (to whatever degree doesn't matter). Thing is, Morinth or otherwise, she already had a purpose.

Oh and I'm not sure about that dank fortress thing, it was said by the equivalent of a angry teenager. For all we know it's the equivalent of the Ritz Carlton stuck in the misty highlands.

I'm not saying it's not I'm just not quite ready to take the word of an angsty teen.

See my point above, at this time it has been 430 years since she last spoke to them. They are matrons, they have spent 9/10 ths of their lives without her presence. 40ish years vs 430.

Which could have been avoided to begin with (the lack of communication).

I imagine she's convinced they probably don't want to see her anymore and she would have to give up being a Justicar to even be able to ask if they would even talk to her after all this time.

It's the logical choice now that Morinth is dead (if this is the actual storyline).

Shrug ok it's obvious that we aren't going to persuade one another on this. You think she's terrible for not going back and I think that after 430years she's probably cringing inside at the thought of trying to talk to her daughters. She's not a perfect fortress of strength, maybe after more time (after her killing Morinth) has passed she might be able to consider it.

Why would she go back now? Reapers, remember?

Well of course they would help the new recruit who might have killed a shipful of them instead of doing a slave trade. /sarcasm

Mercs go where the money is.

Justicars are the only ones who could hunt who they want, and kill who they want. As long as it's permitted by the code.

She'd only be killing one person. One that wouldn't be missed in all likelihood.

Eclipse are also a legitimate business, they aren't going to send there men to murder someone publicly.

Legitimate in the loosest sense of the word, maybe. You're saying they're above murder? Public or otherwise? That's funny.

The children are stuck there forever regardless.

Stuck there, sure, but without the Justicar career decision, they'd be allowed to have her visit and so forth.

And Samara is nowhere near deranged, she is one of the sanest people we've met in the Mass effect galaxy.

Was referring more so to Justicars being deranged, rather than Samara herself. Starkly black and white world outlooks are hardly ever feasible/sympathetic.

Not really trying to 'convince' anyone of anything. Just thought I'd open up some discussion. This thread could use it, surely.

I'm still sticking by my point that after 430 years there's a high probability that her daughters don' need or really want to talk to her anymore. They're not children their adults and they've learned how to live without her after all that time.

Then its just me who thought you were coming across as harsh; hardly a surprise on my part, that's what I get for being soft.

Yeah, but the point I was trying to get across was that situation/estrangement could have been avoided altogether.

Maybe it's the lack of those little face icons. Wouldn't be the first time.

Mercs go where the money is.

Still, she would be selling priceless things that probably wouldn't be enough to go on a multi-system chase to kill someone.

She'd only be killing one person. One that wouldn't be missed in all likelihood.

But at the time she was still in asari space, murder is illegal there. Morinth would notice a large group of armed mercenaries coming after her. Remember the loyalty mission, when you had to trick her and go unarmed? How she has lots of escapes planned?

Legitimate in the loosest sense of the word, maybe. You're saying they're above murder? Public or otherwise? That's funny.

We've only seen them in the worst light. To be allowed to walk around freely, they would have to keep the killing to minimum. They do things legally to get some of there income.

Heh I'm still sticking to my point that if Samara left when they were 16 and then came back when they were 47 (human year equivalents) their answers would probably be in line with take a long walk off a short pier on a high cliff.

I just can't imagine they'd be like yay moms back!

I'm sure they'd be happy at some point, but I don't think Samara can quit justicaring now. Can justicars even quit?

I have no idea, that's actually a good question. I mean Shep asks about it but it's not like she/he would even know if she could.

Shepard asks if Justicars can quit? What does Samara say?

No no, I mean at one point in I think the third? conversation (or maybe it's after the loyalty quest) doesn't Shepard ask what Samara is planning on doing now and she replies that there are still innocents out there to save or something like that. Shepard then says something about her still directing the course of her own life and she replies that she is at peace with her decision.

From that I got that Shepard was asking if she would remain a Justicar, and Samara replying yes, but that doesn't necessarily mean that she can actually make that decision.

I'm unsure if she could if she wanted to. She says they "give up their old lives" so I agree, it sounds like this is a permanent thing.

She does have her family, if she could break the oath of seclusion. I don't think there is any rule against visitors at monasteries.
