I think I was wondering if young asari are actually less empathetic than most humans of the same age range if they do indeed rely on bonding to learn it vice learning it by more human methods. Of course I'd imagine that just like humans some of them are naturally more empathetic than others from early on. Ug that's poorly stated, hopefully it made a little sense.

I understand what you mean. Consider this: since the A-Y condition is only diagnosed upon reaching puberty (or maindenhood), it stands to reason than all asari children develop some empathy through "human" channels, i.e. touch, voice and social interaction. They are "normal" children until they reach maidenhood.Kudara wrote...
Hmm before I got distracted by work and then by Ashira's album cover, I was thinking something about asari maidenhood and their propensity for experimental melding and the commentary Flamewielder made about AY's and their issues learning empathy because they cannot bond.

I would therefore lean towards the opinion that adult asari develop deeper empathy and pychological insight than adults of other species of equivalent age. This would explain why the wisdom of matriarchs are typically held in such high regard.
Consider Samara and her composure: while she was celibate for most of her life following Morinth's escape, she did go through the maidenhood melds that accompany casual sex among asari. Like humans, asari have casual sex that doesn't result in any progeny. Now approaching her matriarch years, Samara has profound insight into her life choices and the "human" condition. The reason her *-* is so mesmerizing is not limited to her looks... If eyes are the windows to the soul, hers are a window into several centuries of experience and introspection. Somehow I doubt that Giana Parsini would be able to make Samara (or Aria) "squeal like a girl"...

Liara apparently makes a comment on whoever Shepard romanced ME2, if s/he romanced Liara in ME1. Wonder if she reacts to Shep "trying" to romance Samara?
I don't expect so, but it would be nice to see it acknowledged. o.0

I don't see how she would know, unless someone aboard the Normandy is a blabbermouth, and/or unless Liara herself has been keeping tabs on everyone aboard the ship.
I don't know how she knew about Jack being a "tattooed woman with anger problems" since I didn't bring Jack on the missions. I guess they just assumed that you would bring your LI with you on the missions...?
EDIT: Hey, look! It's LiquidGrape. What's up?

Curiously, most of the asari we interact with in ME seem to be young.Kudara wrote...
Haha, no I imagine not. Hermia struck me as still being in the maiden stage.
The few matrons we encounter are:
- the one we return the lost locket to on Illium,
- the one from the Shiala mission who lost her 2 daughters on the Citadel,
- Sha'ira (the Consort),
- Samara, who is getting close to her matriarch years
- Aria,
- the asari chatting with the salarian wanting to purchase a fish for her daughter on Illium.

Detective Anaya is a matron I think.
I suspect Tela Vasir is in her matron years or very close to it, as is Shiala.
Edit: Let me add the Rachni Queens Messanger to that list of my suspected matrons or almost matrons.
P.S: that's one reason my character wouldn't flirt with Shiala unless they were serious, she struck me as looking for 'father' material not one night of fun.

Blue Fever (A Short Story)
Samara: And here we are, the lair of the Shadow Broker
Liara: We are about to enter the hideout of one of the most notorious figures in all the galaxy. Who knows what lies awaiting. We must be prepared for anything.
Shepard: You're right, put these on *hands both a pair of blue shades*
Samara:
Liara:
Shepard: What?
Samara: Why are you asking us to wear these rudimentary human creations?
Liara: What purpose does this serve?
Shepard: Because we've got to conceal our identity from the Shadow Broker, DUHH!
Liara:
Samara:
Shepard: WHAT NOW?
Liara: Its the Shadow Broker, he knows....all
Samara: Why are you really asking us to wear these? Hmm? *__*
Shepard: Gah, dammit, because I need to be focused in there, and when you do...that
Samara: What? This? *___*
Shepard: Gah,
Samara: Very well. Speaking of knocked, I hope there aren't any tables he can throw at me in there <_<
Shepard: What? Why? Nevermind, anyway, Liara, are you in accord?
Liara: Well, you didn't specify why I have to wear these....
Shepard: Don't you wanna be in Blue Fever?
Liara: We have a squad name? Why didn't you say so?
Shepard: So are you in?
Liara:
Samara:
Shepard: Blue Fever out
Fin.
