You should buy the DLC, there's Samara-relevant stuff when you complete it.  All of the characters have stuff.  I can't be any more specific without spoiling things.

From what we learn of Ashley in ME1 and her turning down Shepard on Horizon, I believe Samara would find several things to like about the Gunnery Chief:

1) A strong attachement to family (something Samara would have envied in her pre-justicar days,
2) A strong sense of duty and clear moral compass that has her walk away from a lover rather than compromise her principles,
3) Solid martial skills,
4) A capacity for self-sacrifice for the greater good of her people (includes alien allies), never minding that the Alliance brass would never give her credit for it.

Ashley would initially be shocked by the whole Ardat-Yakshi thing. She's spent most of her life and career among humans and shares in the widespread mistrust of aliens among Alliance soldiers. The Turians fired on Humans first, without obvious provocation; the Batarians raid our colonies for slave labor; the Salarians thought the genophage was a great way to resolve the Krogan Rebellions, the Krogans just fight for the shear joy of it... Aside from the hot-looking blue babes, there's nothing too friendly-looking towards Humans out there, at least from a planet-bound Earthborn or Colonist' pers[ective. The Spacers know better, of course, but they are a minority and Ashley is not one of them.

No doubt she would put her foot in her mouth... she's not known for being tactful or diplomatic. That's why Anderson likes her: a good solid soldier, direct and forthright, loyal and dutiful. And not above letting her fists do the talking when necessary... But I think she would totally get why Samara HAD to kill Morinth, in spite of her personal feelings.

Of course, she die of shock if she found out how old the gorgeous Samara is... but she'd get over it.

EDIT: And yes, I think Samara would see a few things in Ash that would remind her of her maiden years... The both enjoy dancing, for starters.

Asari Relationship Outlooks (A Short Story)

Shepard: Samara, have you heard the phrase "wearing the pants in a relationship?"

Samara: Ah yes, its a derivative of the Asari saying "True generalizations are merely estimations"

Shepard: .......wat?

Samara: Pardon me, the translation wasn't very accurate, it simply means that the wearer of the pants overestimates the functional value of the pants-wearing.

Shepard: ......uhm, how would you describe the Asari outlook on relationships?

Samara: A charming scientific pursuit  *____*

Shepard: Mhm , I'll be going now...

I really like Samara's character, found she had great depth and like a samurai she follows her code, regardless of who she kills or what she does, it is all very defined. She also has a the "sexy matured lady" totally going for her.

Ashley probably wouldn't approve of Samara's outfit.  I guess it's for the best that no one comments, in-game, on Samara's choice of clothes.

Samara "danced the night away" in her maiden years... probably more gracefully than Ashley (the military-issue dance moves she shares with Shepard speak for themselves). But they both enjoy dancing.
While we can't compare the severity of each one's familily issues, both seem to value family very highly. Both feel a sense of responsibility for their children/siblings.
I think the sight of Samara's outfit would stun her speechless (thinking "How on Earth is she pulling that off??? Thin-foil skirts and thigh-high boots indeed!!!")

This is why Samara needs an alternate appearance pack treatment.   Not because she should cover up, but because she might look good in some bulky armor.  I guess that, considering how squishy she is (as squishy as Jack), they designed her outfit as it is so that people wouldn't think that she can take the kind of punishment that Grunt and Zaeed can.

Her "Barrier" should be very strong, as a mechanic, I think.

I was actually referring to her astonishement at learning Liara's age and how she envied her looks in ME1... Which I thought was a very feminine comment. Considering that Samara is several centuries old and displays a cleavage many 40 year old human women would envy, she would definitely be shocked (in an admiring kind of way).

While mass effect shields have greatly reduced the need for bulky armor, I can imagine circumstances where Samara would prefer a bulkier hard suit (in hard vaccuum or corrosive/radioactive amospheres, for instance...). Her current outfit looks like some type of light armor (with shoulder pads and some neck protection) well-suited for mobility/agility-fighters, but that gravity-defying cleavage totally ruins the effect!
Not that we mind it, from an aesthetic viewpoint...

Very heartbreaking if I do say so myself. I remember reading a fanfic that was almost entirely the same as the dossier. The dossier didn't really give us much more on the justicars though.
