If there was a third peice to the dossier for Samara, what would Samaritans have liked to have seen? :D

I would most certainly want more info on Justicars, possibly Samara's profile prior to becoming a Justicar, what kind of vetting process takes place and what were the key points identified in her personality. And also more on the training process, maybe a journal log Samara kept throughout the training.

But I would also want something quirky and humorous, like some of the other characters have. Samara's dossier is mostly sad, apart from some curious beqeathed possessions :bandit:

Samara's a very tragic character.  Apart from alluding to her past as a bootyshaker by mentioning the frilly things she bequeathed, what amusing things can one possibly say about her character?  I can't think of anything.

Anyway, I would have liked some kind of letter that mentions the results of her training - either the whole process, or parts of it.  Something like a report card, with remarks from her instructors and superiors, if that's how it works.

Was just replaying LotSB today, which meant rereading the dossiers. True to form, just as Samara's loyalty mission kicks me in the gut, so does the part of her dossier with her last transmission to her other two daughters. I know that Samara said she had to give up everything to become a Justicar, but didn't really hit me that she meant ceasing all contact with her family, her daughters. Her daughters didn't seem all too pleased with their living situation either, sounded very much like a prison. I doubt anyone has much sympathy for the Ardat-Yakshi who do live in seclusion simply because of the suffering caused by the Ardat-Yakshi who run free.

Heaven Scent (A Short Story)

Thane's also a tragic character, but he had a humourous element in his dossier regarding his different take downs. I don't think its out of the realm of possiblity they could have played at Samara's brutal tactics angle. Besides, tragedy doesn't define a character, it makes them multi-dimensional, sure but every character has quirks.

I may want to explain how exactly Mak's latest story was inspired, I was asking what scent the guys in the waffles group would attach to Samara for my latest one-shot.

I settled on Sandalwood.

Curiously though, what scent would you guys attach to Samara?

IMPERATRICE—Softly muted, light spice notes intermingle in a long-lasting and very subtle fragrance indicative of quiet elegance.

I agree, I mean I knew she had to give up her family because she told us that right off. It didn't really sink in though what it meant for all of them until reading that dossier.

Do asari need to sever ties with their Ardat-Yakshi children anyway, once they're put in to work-programs or monasteries? Maybe I didn't read it correctly, but it seemed to me as if the connection Samara and her children were using to communicate wasn't provided to them by the monastery.

Has everything already been spoiled for you by now?  If not, in the DLC, we learn some heart-breaking things about Samara.

No, because I've been avoiding the forums since it came out.:P  I've finally downloaded it, and will probably play it over the weekend, though.

Enjoy it.   I think it's best to play the missions before the suicide mission, and then take Liara up on her offer to visit you on the Normandy after the suicide mission.

What would happen, in ME3, if a player recruited Samara, didn't do her loyalty mission, and managed to keep her alive on the suicide mission?

I'd assume she might go after Morinth.

Either that or Shepard helps her in ME3 and she aids in the final battle somehow.

I'm not sure...

Do not want. Comic relief is for characters like Tali and Grunt, the ones aimed at the kindergamers. I'd prefer Samara to stay a dramatic character. I was really put off by the dossiers on Tali, Grunt, and Legion, and to a lesser extent Miranda. Too much like "just for fun" Easter Eggs, but this info is supposed to be legitimate insight into the characters. I was not amused.

Yeah... I can't immagine comedy being connected to Samara either.

Yeah, comedy and Samara don't mix very well. I can't even hardly imagine Samara laughing.

same. I can't imagine her being stone cold without a sense of humor, but her laughing hysterically would be way too OOC without some or of gas.Posted Image

Yes, a soft laugh or chuckle is more Samara's style.  She chuckles a little, politely, during a conversation with her.

If one (an actual laugh) did escape for some reason I'd imagine her stifling it very quickly and maybe even being a bit embarrassed about it.

With an adorable, embarassed snort, followed by the asari equivalent of blushing?

Well, I thoroughly disagree with the general sentiment that you can't comedically play with the Samara character, or any character for that matter. I hope everyone isn't thinking I wanted some slapstick or cheeky humor to be applied to her, because that is far from what I consider appropriate in this context. Actually in my other post I alluded to Thane's file about his different takedown maneauvers as a fitting angle to explore for Samara; the different brutal tactics she may apply on the battlefield, and how her enemies cower when she approaches them with no weapon in hand. I have a broad sense of humor and appreciation for comedy, I see things like Samara's offhand "you're curiosity is most welcome..." comment as humorous and charming, and that subtlety is the key to bringing about the humor with this character. Obviously she is a graceful warrior in a brutal field and a victim of tragic misfortune, and though her judgment is necessarily independant of contextual circumstances her idle observations don't have to be. She is not past irony, observational humor, wit/wordplay, satire/parody or even deadpan snarkiness, I place those forms above the rest if you follow me. We're in no position to be closing off expressive avenues for this character, so yes, while there isn't much to laugh about in-game with regards to Samara, I think you can easily apply comedic concepts to her, you just have to be creative.

And that's why I haven't stopped posting quickfics :D

I can imagine her laughing quite heartily, actually, if something genuinely humorous crosses her path at the right time, you can come out now

You are of course correct, she does show that she has a sense of humor, albiet a subtle one, throughout the time she's with Shepard.  I suspect it takes the right circumstances and people around her though for her to let herself relax and show that she's more than just the stoic face of justice that she shows to the rest of the world.

I can't believe the $5K has been raised already, I'm excited to see some Samara cosplay, with the model the character is based off of. :D
