hello all, just your neighborhood lurker here poking his head out to show some support for one of his favorite characters.

now in the spirit of contributing to this lovely thread.

question/topic: if you could have Samara along for the ride during one stage of ME1 which would it be?

For me it would have to be Noveria simply for her reaction to Benezia, my Shepard releasing the Rachni queen and the loads of other interesting/morally questionable characters and quests the player encounters there. (administrator anoleis, the asari eavesdropper lady, hanar smuggler and captain motsuo etc.)

Though feros would be a close second to see her reaction to the thorian and how exogeni/jeong effectively used the colonists as lab rats.

I agree that Noveria would be a good one. There are so many disreputable and corrupt people there that Samara would just have to...kill so many of them! It would be great.
Also if she was there when Udina locks the Normandy right before Ilos... I don't think he would argue with a Justicar.

I like your question Firestorm. I agree Noveria would be awesome, and would probably have the most different situations.

• Maeko Matsuo and Kaira Stirling would be much less confrontational when the group arrives.

• "Dull stone" Mallene Callis would quickly scamper away if she caught sight of Samara.

• The hanar merchant wouldn't ask Shep to smuggle in cargo.

• Administrator Anoleis would be MUCH less sassy. Or he'd regret it.

• Captain Ventralis wouldn't be able to hide behind a locked door.

• Alestia Iallis would probably not confront Shepard in the med lab.

• The Benezia fight would also be a LOT easier, especially if Samara AND Liara were present.

On Feros, the only real difference would be the scene with Shiala the end. Undoubtedly, Samara would not have allowed Shiala to live.

On Virmire, Saren would have his hands full dealing with Shepard AND Samara. He'd be much less confident during his monologues.

On Therum, that krogan battlemaster would probably address Samara rather than Shepard. For that matter, Liara would probably think that Samara was leading the expedition to rescue her rather than Shepard, and she probably would be a little more confident during the fight with the krogan and the geth.

Haha thinking of Malline Calis abruptly sucking back her attitude is amusing. I was like who is this stupid asari who thinks coming off like some stuck up bi*** is going to make me want to do anything for her?

As for some of the humans, I doubt they would understand what Samara is, much like Shepard didn't understand at first. They would just recognize that she's an older (and therefore likely powerful) asari.

She is, Lizardviking. Sorry you missed her last night.

She came to the forums to thank everyone for their support in her cosplay for sick kids. She's still accepting donations for that as I hear she'll try a Morinth costume after the Samara one is done. Holly Conrad, the one responsible for the awesome animatronic Grunt costume at Comic-Con and PAX this year, is going to help her out with it as well.

At any rate. Ranamary has my respect, for being the model that Bioware based on of my favorite ME characters face on, and her charity work to supporting sick kids.

Perhaps, but one might expect most of these characters never heard of Justicars (except for the asari). And while Spectres are an acknowledged authority as Coucil agents, Justicars are not. Confrontation would have resulted, unless Samara was acting under the provisions of the Third Oath.

The Codex apparently deals mostly with on the spot judgement, dealing with immediate situations, not long term consideration that would require in-depth analysis. Samara would stop Thane from killing someone whose guilt is not established beforehand (i.e. Justicars have no choice but to presume innocence until proven otherwise). Likewise, Samara was forced to kill dominated individuals (i.e. acting against their will) because there was no other alternative available to her to protect herself and prosecute Morinth. As such, we can expect she would spare Shiala's life once it became apparent she was free of endoctrination. She would spare the rachni queen, as she is innocent of any crime (at the time) and slay Benezia out of sad necessity ("Find peace in the embrace of the Goddess, Matriarch...").

Samara likely leaves complex forensic investigations in the hands of professionals, dealing with mostly with criminals she happens to catch "in the act". She would applaud Shepard's choice of assisting Gianna Parasini in prosecuting Anoleis and frown upon helping the hanar merchant smuggle cargo.

Alestia was likely indoctrinated, as were Benezia's commandos, so I doubt attacking a Justicar would have given her pause...:(

Rana, have you played the first Mass Effect game? Also, was it disconcerting seeing your own face in a video game?

I adore Samara, the face, voice, writing, everything really came together to create something that is more than the sum of its parts. She's really a compelling character, my favorite in the game (but one could probably tell that from my avatar).

<<-- gonna lose some points for this but no, I haven't played the first one! It's pretty surreal to see my face in the video game especially since it's not my voice.. and of course the fact that I'm blue!

I think Samara is amazing too! (all parts combined) Thank you!!

Hehe, no problem. It's a good thing you're doing.

So how did Bioware contact you? Did they just call you one day and said "Hey Rana, we want to put your face on a video game character who is a blue alien?" Or how was the process?

Yes!
.. ok no.. they put up a casting for it on "model mayhem" (a modeling website) I submitted and sent them some pictures and they picked me!

Hmm.. So after you were picked for the role, did they then proceed to invite you to some place so your face could scanned? Or did they simply just use the pictures you sent them?

Also: I suggest you pick up and play Mass effect 1. It's a good game and if you can get past the gameplay, have an even greater story than Mass effect 2 (just my opinion mind you). Beside, it grants you the ability to import the Shepard into part 2. Making the story sligtly more "personalized".

I was going to say someone needed to get Rana a save game for import stat, because without it she has not experienced the glory that is Wrex.

Anyway, I'm actually curious to know when Rana was asked to have her face scanned because the development time is so long. I mean, if it was over a year or even two in advance, you go through your life like every day, all is normal, and then suddenly every single gamer wants to know everything about you.

Rana, if you can get it, you should definitely play Mass Effect 1. You're missing out on the glory that is Wrex, as Pacifien says, but you're also missing out on the awesomeness that is Kaidan, and the nifty-noodleosity that is Liara. (Okay, I ran out of synonyms.)

yeah I went in for a 3D scan in March of last year so it took almost a year to see the results! They also took some pictures to see the range of motion in my face..

I decide to take a break from the internet for a while and I miss Rana? That would happen.

I just replayed me1 + me2 to set up for a possible me3 romance of Samara or Shiala. If bioware makes me choose between them, I may cry.
