I'm so glad you guys like the pictures! I'm bummed they are getting messed up in the mail :( it's my first attempt at sending these out.. but I'm hoping when the costume is all finished I'll do another photo shoot in costume and then I'll enclose a piece of cardboard with the picture? Trial and error. I'll make it up to you somehow!

Wow, the model for Samara just posted on the forums. That's beyond cool.

Thanks for the concern, and cardboard would probably be sufficient. You might also want to mark it as Do Not Bend if you haven't.

:D
Sadly the "Do not bend"  didn't help! I even used the red "do not bend" stamp from the post office
 Cardboard it is!

Well, I just donated, so we'll see if it works. My aunt survived breast cancer, my father's friend died of bone cancer that spread to his lungs, and our cleaner has a nephew I believe that is 14 and suffering from bone cancer. He recently underwent a hip replacement.

A good cause, and also relevant to me. I'm looking forward to seeing you in costume, Samara is my second favorite character, beaten by her foil Garrus Vakarian. I salute you ma'am, for a job well done.

I plan on donating to the fundraiser, but I was just curious on how long it took for you to recieve your signed picture. Also, by this picture, it looks like an 8.5 x 11. Is it?

It took around 2 weeks and the photo should be as large as a letter size paper.

Thanks for the help.

I'm curious, did you donate the $3,460? Just kiddingPosted Image

If I'm that rich, I wouldn't mind though. :)

Btw, Rana,

If you are going to use cardboard, may be you may want to put a thin layer of "plastic" (or something else) on the photo surface, for the protection of the photo.

Probably some wax paper would be sufficient.

Also, would you guys support a romance with Samara? I feel like she is the female character I most identify with, and as such feel the biggest connection to.

I would also like to give her another chance as far as settling down goes. She got kind of screwed over on that front, I feel almost like she deserves that chance. Her goal of starting a family was shattered by something she couldn't control, and I find that really tragic.

Samara give up everything to become justicar, it will be like another reboot of her life if she can be romanced. (even the code allow romance) I rather to see if Shepard have the chance to visit her daughter on behave of Samara. There should be a person to do what Samara can't as a justicar.

By the way, it would be cool if Shepard can detaily intorduce life of justicar, which should do a great favor to Asari people. At least others will now know about the code, understand and respect what justicar is doing for the entire universe.

I sure want to see Samara has a role in ME3, not only she is an interesting character, but also would love to see Rana in actor once more. :D

Yes, an impromptu visit to Samara's 2 remaining daughters to help them get some closure might be appreciated by Samara, even if she never acknowledged it. She no longer HAS any family, from the Oath of Solitude's perspective. But she privately acknowledges Morinth as her daughter, indicating there never was an emotional severance, only a legal one. Not that she would break the rules over her emotions: she didn't do it for Morinth, so I don't expect she'd do it for the other two.

A private visit by Shepard (alone), acting as a neutral witness to the conclusion of Samara's hunt and Morinth's end might be welcome.

Y'know, that would be nice, as Samara is easily as formidable as Shepard, gorgeous, and certainly a worthy partner.

However, even that brief attempt you can pursue crushes that grand lady.  Your interest brings her no joy.  If anything, it just underscores how lonely she is - how lonely she has to be.  She walks alone.  She must.  She's a Justicar.

Samara's integrity as a Justicar is what she is, and I can't see her giving it up, even for Shepard, as elegant a romance as that would be.

Just not gonna happen.

An aside:  Is it just me, or do most of the asari you meet seem to find Shep really fascinating?  Does he do to them what others suspect asari do to everyone else?  ;)

This is why I still maintain that, in some small way, Shepard pushing Samara about their "connection" is sleazy.

Anyway, Shepard has the Kirk Genes.  That's why the asari are all attracted to him/her.  Also, millions of years ago, during a time-travel episode, Captain Kirk entered the Mass Effect universe, had children with the ancient asari, and that's where "asari mind-control" comes from.   True story.   Not really.

Eh.  I'm not enjoying it thus far.  Why not?  No Samara, of course!  But seriously, what could they reveal in the last five pages that could possibly make the comic worth the cost of production, and the reveals valuable to the plot?

Also, USA Today is like the Sesame Street of news journalism.  *adjusts monocle*

Well I enjoy anything mass effect related. I'm hoping for some DLC, since it's mentioned in the mission report for Thanes? loyalty mission about a "recruiting possibility."

Maybe it'll be Aramas, of the Aracitsuj Redro, a newly-formed organization of asari corporate-defenders dedicated to the tenets of materialism and hedonism.

The bolded. soooo much.

I so much prefer the friendship dialogue with a Paragon Shep when she tells you that if you ever need her. She'll be there. That sealed my liking of her. She says it and it's not flowery or a big show but it felt so powerful. (Or maybe that's because I was so desperate for an actual friendship in ME2 with the new characters.)

That's easily one of my favorite scenes in the game.

And I don't get why people say Samara is as much of a danger to the crew as Jack is. Samara tells you herself "your morals are her code" so...no danger of her attacking during the mission. If someone screws up in front of her and she chases them after the mission is over she can be my guest. Shep could careless. My Paragon shep has nothing to fear and my renegade Shep will take a lesson from Nihlus if need be.

I definitely agree York. I have done it once after about a dozen playthroughs and I felt so bad I reloaded a save and did it the right way.

@Jake, Yes. Shepard's mojo is so powerful, he can control the masters.

And yes, I hated that movie.

Well, I can certainly understand his/her fascination.  Everytime I do a run through and get to Samara, I spend half her cutscenses just staring, and muttering, "Daaamn, she's gorgeous!" - and it's not eyes-boobies - that lady is a lady - she has poise, grace, and elegance all powering a formidable butt-whupp'n machine.

But I can't bring myself to try and romance her.  I wouldn't call the effort 'sleazy' inasmuch as 'hopeless' - Shepard should know better (I try and play Shepard as not a putz), and only know of the romance from vids (thanks, YouTube), which simply reinforced my desire not to pursue it.  If you have any respect for that lady, you won't.

However, if in ME3, the option comes up and it's Samara herself that initiates either the willingness or the indicators that she wants to be pursued (hopefully intelligently arrived at by the writers), then I have a Shepard or two that hasn`t romanced anyone from either game that would leap at the chance.

True story.   Not really.

If you mean that it seems like you're the only one who liked the Samara romance then no, you are not completely alone. I also enjoyed it, even if some of Shepard's lines could use some improvements.

But if you meant something completely else then I guess I have to ask the question:
Am I the only one who liked the romance scene (if only for the near-kiss alone), and felt that the last conversation with her as a paragon is anticlimactic if you choose the friendship path?

That's what I meant :< I do agree that Shepard's lines could've been done a little better...and why, why did the animators use "CREEPY UNDEAD GRIN TIEM!" ?

Ah, what would the world be without zombie smiles? Probably a lot better...

And to answer your question anyway; I found it heartwarming when I first ran through the game. Mostly from being too much of a chicken to go for the "romance" as I didn't know what would happen.

Being told by Samara that, if she survives the suicide mission, she will return to aid my mostly-Paragon Shepard was definitely one of the most touching things I encountered in ME2.  As that was my first playthrough, and everything was new to me, I was simply awed by Samara.  That my Shepard had been a good enough friend and comrade to her, that a woman as powerful as she would swear to dedicate her time and abilities to him once again, that was a truly profound moment.

Shepard's lines could have been delivered better, and his/her lines could have been better-written, but it still seems the tiniest bit sleazy to me, pushing Samara about their "connection, and her "feelings".
