I'm just going to make a point of reminding myself that my shepard doesn't have that in mind...

:D!

A humorous take on what a near thousand year old women's menopause may be like, so that's where she gets her biotic prowess from

York, you should DEFINITELY post the link on the Mass Effect Funny Cartoon thread. The artist deserves the exposure! Posted Image

(and my wife is also entering the early stages of menopause herself, so I totally empathize).

Makes me love Samara even more! Posted Image

I am surprised by those who think Samara is black & white.
Don't they realize that some characters don't wear their heart on their sleeve?
With some people -- the deeper ones, the more subtle ones – you must look past
the edge of the image they present to the world. You must forget what they say
about themselves, what others say about them – you have to look at the subtle
details in their interactions that *unintentionally* reveal their inner life.

;)

Yup. That's exactly why I like Jack. Initially I didn't, but then when I heard her story about the space station, I did. Much more so than Miranda, my first romance.

Also, would you guys support a romance with Samara? I feel like she is the female character I most identify with, and as such feel the biggest connection to.

I would also like to give her another chance as far as settling down goes. She got kind of screwed over on that front, I feel almost like she deserves that chance. Her goal of starting a family was shattered by something she couldn't control, and I find that really tragic.

Samara give up everything to become justicar, it will be like another reboot of her life if she can be romanced. (even the code allow romance) I rather to see if Shepard have the chance to visit her daughter on behave of Samara. There should be a person to do what Samara can't as a justicar.

By the way, it would be cool if Shepard can detaily intorduce life of justicar, which should do a great favor to Asari people. At least others will now know about the code, understand and respect what justicar is doing for the entire universe.

I sure want to see Samara has a role in ME3, not only she is an interesting character, but also would love to see Rana in actor once more. :D

I think it is the tragic nature of her character that makes me want the option to have a relationship, a real one, with her. Out of all of the romances between the two games, Samara is the most hurt, the most torn and emotionally destroyed person.

Which kind of makes me feel that she is the most deserving of someone than any of the other characters. I just feel so much for her situation, my empathy center in my brain is simply burning to assuage some of her pain.  More than her appearance, or her physical prowess as a warrior, it's her pain that makes her stand out. She spent 400 years hunting her own daughter to her death, her dreams of starting a family were destroyed but an enemy she couldn't fight, despite her martial skills.

It's just so tragic, out of all the characters in the series, Samara is the one I would do the most for, with Jack coming in a close second. She promised to come if I called, but I feel like it should be me making that promise.

I love this comic. For ever and ever and ever and ever and ever. Posted Image

I love the character designs and the Shepard in there is pretty damn cool.

Hey, quick question. I'm sort of a new comer to the Samara forum (we'll to the forums in general). I've a question about Samara..well, two actually.

I've got some decent characterization on the Justicar, but I'm stuck on, given her views and philosophy, how she would percieve and view the other squadmates, like Jack, Grunt, Thane, Miranda, Garrus. Any information or insight you smart souls might give me would do me good.

This thread can be very slow at times, Skyline.

It's a difficult task to anticipate what Samara would think of each squadmate.

Jacob, she tells us, will either become a great man due to the difficult tasks he faces (I guess she might be referring to balancing his own morality with the questionable ethical practices of Cerberus?), or he will be destroyed by them.

Miranda, she tells us, she respects.  Samara calls her a proud, strong woman, who internalizes her issues to keep them hidden from to others, because she has confidence in herself that she can deal with them herself.

Thane, she might respect his philosophy, and the thought he gives to the moral quality of his actions, but she would probably take issue with his solipsism.  He views himself as a weapon, a tool of his employers.  Separating himself from the consequences of actions is probably not something she would look kindly upon.

Mordin, she probably respects.  He has a head for ethics.  As a doctor with a gun, he is sworn to prevent harm to innocent lives, and to treat those who need his help.  I wonder if he is impartial, though.  Mordin is known for his ruthlessness.  Would he provide aid to a wounded enemy, if that enemy was incapacitated, or disarmed?  Mordin was willing to kill his student to prevent the genophage cure from getting out.  I wonder how Samara would view that.  I'd like to hear Samara discuss the ethics of the Genophage with Mordin.

Jack, she probably dislikes.  She would understand that Jack is the way she is due to the immoral/amoral actions of others, but Samara tells us that the Code demands impartiality of her.  She tells us that she cannot care that the criminal she is about to kill is the good father of many children.  Jack kills criminally, and she must be stopped.

Zaeed goes where the money is.  He has a conscience, as we can see if he's taken on Jack's loyalty mission (he thinks it's sick what was done to the children there), and he tells us that he even rescued a child who had been captured by slavers.  He is reckless, though.  I don't think being told to "hate the game, not the player" would fly with Samara.

Grunt is only a child.  We just don't see enough about what Grunt thinks about morality (if anything at all) to make judgments.  He seems to value honor, which Samara would find to be respectable, but honor is a morally nebulous thing by itself.  Gangs kill out of honor.

Kasumi is a thief.  She seems to dislike killing, and prefers to sneak around, but she apparently knows her way around weapons.  She is still a criminal.

Legion presents Samara with a moral dilemma.  It's revealed to us that not all geth are heretics.  Geth are made of many processes however.  Does each process constitute its own individual, with its own conscience?  How does she calculate that?  Samara probably wouldn't tolerate geth heretics.  They threaten innocent lives.  Non-heretic geth, however, will leave others alone if they themselves are left alone.  They do not lie to each other, they do not steal, they act on consensus.  They are a pure democracy.  The asari are a pure democracy, too.  I think she would, at the most, be indifferent of Legion.

Garrus, it depends.  He can be swayed by Shepard, but he regardless has it out for Sidonis.  His father has imparted in him a very strong sense of duty.  Garrus tells us that he believes in justice and morality, but when he himself is wronged, and when he is put in to a situation where justice can't help him, he begins to see the universe as morally ambiguous.  Samara might agree that Sidonis deserves to die, but would she let Garrus kill him?

Tali, Samara might say is a promising young woman.  Quarian issues are beyond Samara, though.  Samara can't blame Tali for what the quarians did hundreds of years before she was even born.  Tali has a very strong sense of duty.  She's willing to obstruct (quarian) justice to preserve her father's memory, though.  I think Samara would be neutral towards Tali.

I think that's everyone.

WOW.

Thanks a bunch for that. Haha, now I just have to see if I can't get Samara's voice down and get those kinds of viewpoints across when trying to write little interactions with the team. I felt as though, while the squadmates individually were very well thought out, they didn't really interact with one another.

I understand that this is a mission where people have to put aside differences for the greater good, but like Shepard, you're going to need to know about the people you work with so you can draw on thier strengths. I feel the squadmates should do the same for each other, like Shep does for them. Hence my attempt to write this fanfic where such scenarios happen.

Well, I think we had a link to them in the Samara Off-Topic Discussion Group, but that Group was...lost.  Instead, you can look through the thread, right-click on a signature you like, click Copy Link Location, and then use img tags to put that sig in your sig, on your signature page.

Why does Samara always do the quick biotic glow thingy? She even does it in the almost-romance scene!

Is it to impress Kasumi because samara knows she's hiding in the corner recording with her omni-tool?
