I just wish Bioware did more to Morinth's character than just turn her into the secret squadmate that she is now, with the same 3 conversation options all the time.

And Morinth belly-aching about her mother all the time, instead of being her own person.

This. Or i might have kept her in more than one playthrough.

Does anyone remember Samara saying that Ardat-Yakshi have a small but reduced chance of occurring in asari/non-asari pairings? I could have sworn that I remember her, or someone else, saying that.

If that's the case, it makes Morinth an even more tragic figure than she already is. She's still a serial killer, and thus raises little sympathy. The fact that she cannot stop herself from killing is tragic, and so is the fact that asari consider it more "humane" to kill an addicted A-Y than locking her up in isolation until withdrawal symptoms have her crack her skull open on the cell walls...Posted Image

Your posts are always good to read, Flame. That last bit reminded me of Supernatural, where one of the main characters is 'detoxing' after an addiction to demon blood. I find the first set of uttered lines in this appropriate.

The closest is 'Ardat-Yakshi only occur from purebloods like myself', and a musing about how that might account for the cultrual movement towards alien pairings.

Dean is correct. The Codex entry on A-Y itself makes no mention of this possible relationship, so Samara's quote is the only reference we have.

Weird suggestion incoming.

When Samara talks about how Morinth can subtlely manipulate her victims (Inducing emotions long hidden etc.). It made me wonder.

Would it be fitting if Morinth had subtle changes (emphasis on subtle) such as having slightly diffrent dialog, when you meet her during the loyalty mission. Depending on certain factors for your Shepard? Such factors could for example be Shepard's current romance (if any).

As far as I know it wasn't implemented in game. Mind you, Shepard never revealed his identity to her, so he/she never gave Morinth any clue about him/herself. Morinth can subtly manipulate but also directly Dominate weak-willed individuals (it's her "loyalty" power after all). And since she already has the Dominate power when first joining your crew, it's fair to assume she may have had this power all along (even if it's a "loyalty" power in terms of game mechanics).

It really depends upon whether or not asari, especially Ardat-Yakshi, can feel around people's thoughts without needing to join minds.  It seems to be a mind-joining thing only.  Gameplay mechanics really have no bearing on the game outside of combat.  Aria says that she used a certain talent that her species looks down upon, to influence Patriarch's men in to betraying him.  That's kind of ambiguous, though.  She could be referring simply to seduction.

Samara attributes Morinth's persuasive (dominating) abilities strictly to force of personality. Nothing more. Morinth has learned the traditional RPG hero skill of persuasion.

The context of Aria's takeover was definitely sex.

This.

It is interesting that both Samara in ME2 and Liara in ME1 suggest that willpower (as in determination, strenght of personality) is considered by asari in general to be an admirable trait in an individual. The ability of A-Y to litterally project its willpower would generate an unhealthy attractiveness similar to that of human vampires. The parallel is obvious.

Besides her physical appearance, what else do you like about Samara?

She's the somewhat aloof, but grandmotherly presence, every ship needs.

Don't let her hear you calling her "Gramma-Sama".  And, I agree, Samara and Wynne, for example, serve a similar role.

I never seen the connection between Wynne and Samara. Aside from the "old, wise and powerful" aspect. Wynne felt like the grandma of the team, Samara didn't.

I'd love to learn from her how things are different for her, if at all, now that Morinth is dead.  She's ripe for character development, in that respect.

Her daughter deserved to die but it wasn't a hard choice for Samara to kill her.I appreciated that.Morinth is very dangerous.

Yeah, but I meant more like Samara's thoughts about her role as a Justicar, and her future, having the potential to change.  They probably wouldn't, since she tells us that she doesn't intend to die peacefully in her bed, but they could elaborate more on her though-process.

Also, before, Samara didn't have much experience with humans.  Having worked with the Commander, have her thoughts on humanity changed?

It should've been changed.

How do you think her thoughts on humanity would change?  Samara had a pretty good understanding of the way humans work, even before she met the Commander.

Dont forget that shes not just seeing Shep...she also sees Jacob, Miranda, Jack, Zaeed, Kasumi, Kelly, Joker and Co. They all form her opinion about the humans...I think she would feel confirmed about her "2 humans 4 Opinions" statement.

She sees that all humans are same anyway.Maybe except Shepard.
