Hiya Kelmar, we're discussing what would have been Morinth and Samara's relationship had a cure for A-Y been found, and the relative morality of justicars and their code.

I think that if a cure had been found, wait for Justicars, when can they end their "contract" so to speak. As in, if they want a normal life without being a Justicar anymore, would they be allowed to call it quits?

I would imagine they can retire from service, if you wanna compare it to public/military service. On the other hand, it might also mean lifetime membership. It's never made explicit one way or the other.

Of course, if A-Y were cured, they'd no longer need to be put on the justicars execution lists unless they were already convicted of murder. In which case they'd simply be considered as fugitives.

See, if they can retire and the cure is found for A-Y then that's what I think Samara would've done. Samara never got the chance to know her daughter because of A-Y. I think she would've meant more to her than her Justicar code. I would've liked to have seen their relationship if that were the case. Though of course, in my eyes there is no if, ands or buts as to whether Samara survives or Morinth survives. Samara is the only one who can win that fight. End story. =]

What if you could try to have both survive?

Honestly I dont think Samara would allow it. Knowing that Morinth would eventually start killing again with out a cure in sight, and since allowing her to live while she has A-Y would go against her code. If a cure was created before you meet Morinth though, I'd be all for have Morinth survive. Less pain for Samara to deal with. I honestly think Morinth is much like her mother, but A-Y changed her deeply.

Hypotheticals for ****s and giggles. Samara is romanceable. You go to Mordin for "the talk". What advice/warnings does he give?

I think the best "talk" would be Mordin describing the mechanics of the asari "mind-joining," and how the asari and her partner can feel each other feel, but, more importantly, they can "see" each other's thoughts and memories.  Samara's much older than anyone aboard the Normandy, and she's probably seen more things than anyone aboard the Normandy.  Bonus points if Mordin knows about the Justicars.

Long story short - Mordin might caution Shepard about the "intensity" of joining minds with Samara.

Not to mention sharing the Prothean beacon's vision, which Samara might be able to make even clearer than young Liara could...
But for the LULZ:

Yeah, because first and foremost Mordin's job is to keep it light in regards to medical advice. We can't have him being too serious, where's the fun in that.

I'm guessing it's to GeneralSlotts' comment.

So, hm. Does anyone have anything else to say about Morinth in relation to Samara?

Well, Reave's a bit redundant if you're strong in Warp.

Also, Morinth is the only squadmate who won't ever go into calibrations mode.

sorry people, i didn't mean to sound like an sarcastic ass. I just meant that any sex advice Mordin gives in regards to Samara would need a funny comment or two, to stay true to his character.

and again my apologies

Morinth just has replay mode instead.

In all seriousness. What benefit is there to picking Morinth over Samara? Other than the Renegade points?

Roleplaying reasons, some say.

Well.. I have no clue who would choose Morinth over Samara IRL if that was a real situation. Morinth is obviously severely F***d up, and for one, I wouldnt trust her around my crew. 2. she just tried to kill me... so why would I want her as my friend...? But since this is a game I guess people will do what they wish to do. Even if some choices make absolutely no sense.

What about making a bad decision in the moment, based off your relating to Morinth as someone rebelling against a parent, and Samara is pretty cold in that moment, justifiably so but cold none the less. And then you talk to Morinth on the ship, and yep no redeeming qualities here, whoops.
